GIANT Speckled Trout- Indian River Lagoon Flats Fishing
ฝัง
- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 8 ก.พ. 2025
- I have been inshore wade fishing the Indian river lagoon around Ft. Pierce and Stuart for about a year now. This was my first encounter with a gator speckled trout (sea trout). These are smart, elusive and aggressive fish that stalk and landing them generally ends with heartbreak as they have soft mouthes and spit hooks very easily. This was a BIG trout on a topwater lure, but i'm still after that GIANT 30+ inch fanged monster.

We may not be good, but sometimes we can get lucky!
JunoRyan Lol that’s a good one dude!
You guys got into some good ole, down-home, Gulf South Yellow Mouth Brackish Bay & Bayou Busters! When we hunted, and I say hunted, not fished for because that's what you had to do in order to find these veracious saltwater predators, it was the yellow mouth we searched for! For some reason when Speckled Trout reach a certain level of maturity, their mouth turns yellow, and that's what we were constantly searching for in our youth in Southeast Louisiana.
In fact, we dropped the technical name, and just started referring to them as "Yellow Mouths", everyone knew what we were referring to, and it's still that way for my friends and I to this day!
Great Video!
I think @thresherfishing has you on the biggest trout ever. Awesome vid!
That thing was ungodly big
INDEED!!!
Cooper probably does but he is fishing for speckled'z 90% of the time
Tacklecentral Fishing yeah that speck was nuts. My biggest is 21 and a half, I live in Louisiana and a lot of people tell me for some reason the trout are bigger in Texas. I’d love to go fishing in Texas if that’s true.
Nice trout. You're right, it is good to keep your hands wet, it's also good to keep your hands out of their gills if you're going to release them. We had a house on the river at Oak Hill near Mosquito Lagoon in the 70s. A lot of big trout back then and it was paradise for a teenage boy.
The best thing about this video is you caught these monsters at what looks like a place anyone can walk/drive too. No boat needed either
I used to catch those speckled trout off long island, ny and over there they are known as weakfish
Nice job. That nervous feeling set in when you knew you hooked a trophy.
I live here in Brevard county... I love your channel! TH-cam has sent me to you! They know I live in Florida... I am totally buying a set of waders!
I watched this video twice! I just love that Trout and the wadding!
Stonking "Speckled Trout" !!!!!
A BEST in anyone's' standards !!!
Well Done Viktor !!
"Down Under Mike" ...
Haven’t caught one that big in years. Caught a 27” up by the power plant years ago on a red/ white yo-zuri. Nice fish!
Nice fish dude around here those Paul Brown lures are killer especially for big trout in the winter.
Paul Browns are legendary in TX. Small company down by Matagorda made them in a garage. Now owned by MirroLure
Titan5 Point6 we call them corkys right?
Dude I've been working all Christmas break .... I absolutely love your videos favorite part of my day!!
Thumbs up for releasing that awesome fish!🏆
Beautiful trout bro. That's absolutely my favorite type of fishing. Wading for monster trout. Got a 32 in baffin bay tx. Nice job.
Nice fish. It's always nice when you think you have a medium/small redfish only to find it is a gator trout.
This is definitely a great area for trout. My biggest in Ft.Pierce was 28" and in Melbourne I got a 31 1/2" trout.
i live in stuart and there are litterally no trout here I have been fishing for years now and I have never caught one
@@roon1355 try changing your daily tactics. I promise there is trout in Stuart. There is trout all around Florida. I work as a guide in Key West now and we catch nice trout all the way down here.
Congrats on that speckled trout! NICE!👊💥
nice Speckled'z Bru, as always your vidz are some of the best goin'. thanks for the variety
I watched one yesterday, it was a 32 inch speckled trout. He was fishing from a bridge, awesome. Grats on your catch.
Ruben Galvan thersher fishing?
We want the giant ones like you guys caught, my g/son & I got 6 today, only 1 at 16 in…Indian R. Lagoon, off live shrimp.great video
Got 2 like that this fall.... Look like y'all had fun. Keep it up.
Nice I love top water action my best speck was 28 inch 8.5lbs Elizabeth river Chesapeake va
I fish there all the time. Small world.
Me too. My PB is 24 inches, haven't been able to get anything over that. Never had a chance to fish the hot ditch while it was active, I heard a lot of people caught specks up to 30 inches or bigger regularly.
Awesome Catch bro too water has been killer down here the last few days! Cold front is coming this week that spot I told you about should turn up.
Baffin Bay just south of Corpus Christi, Tx is where you need to go to get your 30 inch trout. I’ve caught 2 that were 30 inches. Best speckled trout fishing in the world here
Nice video Victor keep up all your work and that was one amazing trout you caught and a couple days back I meet you inside of West Marine!!
Well done! Happy birthday Vic
Great fish Victor Happy New Year to you and yours
Happy New Year everyone !!! Awesome speckled trout
Man I want to do that! Awesome video! looking forward to the catch and cook
Same
Yes wade Fishing ! 🙌🏻more!
Great video as always Viktor
great video. Hope u continue to do more frequent wade sessions. Happy new year
You can get bigs ones like that off the south side of Redington pier , use to use a balsa wood float and select shrimp, and free float the shrimp about 50 yards out to the grass flats on the south side , very large specs there
That spot, just to the west of the pier, is a 18-22 inch snook honey hole. A blast on light tackle
I live In Texas and here that’s a nice one a big one here is 28 to 30 inches but still that’s a STUD
Awesome bubba...you should come up to Jacksonville Florida some time and hit me up...the trout are ridiculous up here
Damn , i really need to get on some of the fish u guys get on , I've been wading the same area u guys have ,I've only caught jacks and ladyfish
Very nice trout! Braid is generally not very good for topwater speckled trout fishing. The best gator trout fisherman I know throw Super Spooks on 14-17lb mono on baitcasting gear. You'll double or triple your hookup/landing ratio using mono and light drags...tight lines!
Nice trout Viktor. Congrats!
Jupiter George Fishing geterdone
Dre Pompey Yessir!
@Landshark Fishing, u are right they go in and “slash” with those teeth when they are really fired up
NICE speckled!
Wet hands good, fingers in the gills, great for starting a terminal infection, might as well keep the fish!
31 inch is my personal best spec... but they are everywhere here in south Texas. Baffin Bay has some monsters
love then care for the fish too. good stuff.
Man I fish that spot all the time halfway between Jensen and fort pierce
I just got that one size. It was following one my dad had on about 17”. Mine was 25” this looks to be similar in size. Maybe 27” actually
Paul brown's aka "corkies" are the best trophy trout lure for fishing down here in texas.
No doubt a good lure, but the world record seatrout was caught on a Zara spook...best monster trout lure of all time in my book.
You should do a challenge where you have to catch a fish on every rod in your arsenal
Love your channel 😍
I live in Brevard County too. If you're a man down one day and want to head out, hit me up. I love fishing fresh and salt!
I agree with you about them stunning their bait first. They aren't goin for the kill on the first strike most of the time. You see it alot. Youll get a couple strikes before they commit
Was fishing back side at Sebastian wading, saw a dark figure approach out of the corner of my eye, I went backwards into the mangrove and passed a turd in my pants. It was a Manatee.lol
Subscribing for the educational aspects. I didn't know that specs stun the baitfish first then return for the kill. Very important to know for hookset.
How cold was it? I’m assuming this was today or yesterday....and it’s cold out there! I totally give up on the topwater bite when it’s cold, but you just gave me hope.
Is that the tsunami reel? I see why your using it for wade fishing since it supposedly can take on water? Have you ever reviewed this reel?
Interested on your input on the reel
I'm from striped bass country up north, very similar to weakfish. Your theory is possible, I even believe sometimes they might even tail swipe at it to stun it then return.
Nice fish, great videos. Are on the Indian River? Like to give that a try.
still get 4to7 weeks between halloween and christmass specks migrate into south jersey bays six to eight pounders every tide , few fish a season ten to fourteen lbs , they are the fattest specks ive ever seen , problem is its a ninety minute window , sometimes not during daylight
Paul brown corky best life for trout in the winter
It seems like you may have given up too soon on the casts with the swing and a miss. I have had them miss multiple times before they really get agitated and nail it. Something else that really works is just letting the lure just sit still after a miss. After about 30 seconds or so just give it a twitch. I really enjoyed the vid!
What's it like around there in July?
What a cool channel😁
Were you able to get a length?
I started carrying a net with me when i wade.been gettin alot more fish.its a heatbreaker when u barely have a big trout hooked and it gets away.the net will help believe me
Sick video
I always stay away from treble hooks as it seems to damage the non keeper fish. But still dig the video.
Damaging their gills can potentially kill the fish to because they allow the fish to breathe.
Go back out and use the gold fleck doa shrimp in the 4” and 3” and I bet you you will catch more. Even under a popping cork do it both ways and I bet you will have a blast.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥video bra!!!!
R u gonna doa review on the tsunami reel?
Hey what video was the one with the rubber band and the lead weight to bring the bait down? I was thinking of doing that with my kayak offshore?
what lure were you using?
Vic, we know fish cheeks are frequently terrific. And we know mammal tongue is a great delicacy, so what about fish tongue? WDYT?
that was a big trout buddy, wish you would of got a measurement of it. those gator trout fight totally different from your average trout its a night and day difference
Is this Bear Point Cove?
Very very nice !
Where did you learn your casting technique?
Nice trout what three name of the lure you caught that gator on👍
Where is that
What is the length, action of the rod you use?
What reel are you using?
What was the rod rated
What reel are you using
Bet u did the intro after your fishing trip
First I compliment your videos and your channel. May I ask a couple of questions? I’m setting up a 10000 size spinning outfit for casting for sharks from shore. I am using mono as my main line and my reel has a capacity of approximately 430 yards of 20 pound test or 350 yards of 25 pound test. In your opinion, which would be preferable? Thanks
Bear Point ?
Hey blacktiph and 1rod1reel fishes there together in that first little spot.
What part of Indian river you fishing at @landshark
Did you measure it?
Same color pattern as the world record was caught on
SpottedTrout(🦇)
the place where you fish i highly reccomend mirrolure suspended twitch baits , think you would outfish your topwater neighbors ,especially because those thirty plus fish dont always like to spend energy to crash surface baits , still know peoplethats all they fish because they like the visual stimulation me i like drag time and bowed rods
Hahaha BEAR POINT FTW!!
You kinda did the old.. hold the fish out trick for a thumb nail. But still a good fish
Is the reel the sheild or the bg?
Tsunami Sheild
I have one its the 3000 and, I have had no issues so I was wondering if he had any complaints?
Bear point?
My pb trout was 24" 5 pounds
fished that area many times and caught some night 26-29 inchers. but last May I saw what looked like a 40 inch trout. it was so big i thought it was a snook.
Awesome vid Viktor and awesome speckled trout and here in maine I catch in saltwater stripers, pogys, and herring and in freshwater I catch brook trout, yellow perch, chubs, sunfish, chain pickerel, common carp, small mouth bass and when I go to my cabin in Canada I catch small mouth bass, sunfish, pike, yellow perch, and catfish and my biggest catfish is 7lbs and my biggest pike is 6lbs pics are on my instergram called Themainestuntdummy96 ☺ 👍
New to Florida sort of where are you around does it have a name or coordinates.
Thanks in advance if you can
Not happening. Do some homework . You'll find good spots. Then it will mean more
