  • While the enlightenment certainly has turned the lights on when it comes to a biological understanding of the human body (which benefits us all!), when it comes to the deeper meaning of the human body, the enlightenment has left us in the dark. . .

    Hello, Christopher!
I was a high school biology teacher who began every class with a prayer. I remembered this prayer while listening to your talk when you said, "We have lost respect for nature!"
    Here is the prayer:
    O God,
Grant me the gift of wonder and patient research that,
working generously with all who seek truth,
I may use all that I discover,
    not for pride or power,
but to restore to man his dignity in the image of The Word, by Whom all things were made.
    Amen.

That insight into the word respect has been so helpful as I used it with my therapy clients.

Thank you Dr Christopher for your divine messages on the Theology of the body. You do it with so much love and enthousiasme and sketch a beautiful mystery between man and woman. I fail to make this mystery my own since my hart is severely broken after hearing from my wife after 21 years of marriage she was raped before we met. This made me lost my whole becoming one in spirit and flesh view for marriage and can not see any mystery anymore. I wish to have your view of it all but developed a blockage inside me. I thought I am reborn and am supposed to handle it but my brokenness tears me apart.

I think that reading Carlo Rovelli might change your mind on how scientist view nature. There is a deep reverence for the profound beauty and mystery of Nature in the scientific world. Galileo was simply speaking in allegory using strong prose, as many biblical writers did, to relate to an audience that is most likely illiterate. Most scientists do not treat Nature as a subject "on the rack" to be interrogated and tortured for information.

What do you think about the gnostic conceptions of the body?
I know gnosticism is a problematic term because nobody call themselves that; but you know, sethians, valentinians, marcionites, etc.
Still, would be very interesting to hear our take on it.
    Greetings from Mexico.
