- Meet the most powerful version of the BMW iX you can buy - the BMW iX M60!
BMW’s M division has got its hands on the brand’s first purpose-built electric SUV, but how much has changed over the standard edition?
Well in terms of the exterior design… It’s pretty much identical! Bar some new badging at the rear of the car and along the side, everything else you see on the outside of the iX M60 is available on the normal car. The only difference here is a lot of things, such as blue brake calipers, come as an optional extra on the standard car. With the iX M60, they come as standard.
On the inside, it’s pretty much the same story! Bar some new driving modes and some slight M colouring on the digital dials, the iX M60 interior is identical to the usual iX. Then again, that’s not exactly a bad thing!
However, there are two key differences with this car. For starters, the power output is HUGE. This family-friendly electric SUV now produces 619hp and 1,100Nm of torque! It’s still packing the same 105kWh battery pack as the normal car though, so the claimed range is down slightly, at 348 miles.
The second key change is the price, with the iX M60 coming in at an eye-watering £117,000!! So is it worth it? You’ll need to stick with Mat to see for yourself!

The reason for the rear windows only going down so far is because of the airbags. The iX is super safe and has massive rear airbags and I’d take that instead the windows going down all the way.

The fact that Mat can spot out little differences such as the little stripes on the instrument cluster tells you how great Mat is at journalism on this channel.
I love how Matt reviews cars finding all the crappy stuff and making it known I can honestly say this guy is the only person I'd look for when looking for reviews on new vehicles
Definitely feels overly positive on BMW & Audis - probably as they each give him a top of the line long termer

That sound it makes is amazing. It sounds totally different when you are inside the car then listening to it on TH-cam.
The massage seats for the passenger is actually just a temporary restriction due to low production of parts.
And the car is actually getting 22kw AC charging as standard as of November 😉
Extra feature Matt forgot to mention is that charging flap serves as an airbrake

Great video, as always. Minor correction re AC charging: BMW does offer an option called "AC Professional Charging" with 22kW (as standard with the M60i)
Leave it to BMW to offer a package. The only company handling more packages per year is Amazon! 😵💫

When in Reality, BMW always did this and everytime BMW made such huge and weird Design Changes, the Reaction was always negative by everyone, then suddenly Years later, People either started to love the Design or just got used to it and think it looks alright.
My Point being: Go check old Car Magazine Reviews of new BMW Models with radically different Designs and how much bad Reactions they got, while it's cars you and me find beautiful ot at least "alright" nowadays.
Don't be surprised if in 3 Years you will see People call this Car good looking

@@chartreux1532 actually i never had problems with the look of BMW in the past, but it started with the actual 7 series continued with the 4 series and M3 and now with the iX, not even mentioning the i3 because this thing comes from from an era all electric cars looked ugly.
Even now, when i see one of the mentioned models, i want to throw up 🤮

I don’t think it’s an issue that it looks exactly the same as the M Sport model, it harkens back to the M cars of old that were basically the same as the non m variant aside from the huge engine and suspension tweaks. A modern sleeper

I am test driving this car over the weekend. I was so against electric before but this is a weapon! I have never felt an acceleration like this!

Matt you should have used the G meter when accelerating. My iX40 has one so I would expect the M would too.
That rear passenger window is a deal breaker. I don't always roll down my windows. But when I do, I prefer them all the way down. (XX 😉)

8:46 this happened 1 time when i was young lol my dad had a Dodge Dakota 5.9 R/T and swapped the motor for the bigger Viper motor that they sold in the Ram SRT/10. Me and my friend were riding in the truck and my friend was in the back seat. In the dakota, the rear window is right behind the back seat. Buddies head cracked the rear window.

The looks of this model has grown on me. It's just a different BMW SUV from the future. Looks better than dreary normal combustion SUVs from BWM imo.

@carwow it's an electric car you don't need electronic stability control since each motor or axle can be individually actuated and therefore torque and traction can be altered on the fly from algorithms in the SW. Hope that helps 😊
BMW styling just isn't it atm. I really haven't liked the look of any of them lately. Sure they will drive amazingly, and you'll probably be chufded with almost any BMW! But they are just so ugly right now lol

How much does the standard iX cost after all the same optional M sport upgrades to match this iX M60? What’s the effective price difference between the two then?
M Sport variant is far better tho.
The M-Sport Edition has most of the interior spec for about £80k. It'll be slower though, oh, it also has a smaller battery.

It would be interesting to know the service cost of these cars. I don't think BMW and Audi can afford to do like Tesla and service these cars not so often. The dealers would go bankrupt.
