  • Today we are going to be selling my products at the most expensive market stall that I've done for my small business to date!! It's super exciting but also so terrifying! I spent so much money to get into this market stall event but it's a step I needed to take for my small business! Will doing these bigger events help to grow my small business!? Let's hope that I make some profit!

80/20 rule! 80% of your sales will come from 20% of your products. Don’t stress too much about the stuff that doesn’t move as much. Learn from it for future products but just know that that’s just how business tends to work.

Hey there! I know the pain of a market that doesn't go as you hoped! I think your totes and pencil cases are utterly adorable. This market just might not have had the crowd that was looking for the those, though. Each crowd and market is different. They could sell much better online. I wouldn't stress too much over it! Keep going, you got this!

for sure! I was a little disappointed but there will always be other markets!

I honestly loved your table display. and it sucks that I don't live in the UK or else I would have bought half of your products 😂 the tote bags look lovely and so does the pencil cases. I think maybe because we are not in the school season so there are no people who would want them at the moment but don't give up on them yet, maybe they will sell better on Etsy.
can't wait to see the mugs! hope you got a better machine. best of luck Abi ❤

considering the summer we've had, I think most people probably changed their plans to go to the beach, I know I did. Sorry it didn't go better for you, there's always next time ❤❤

I really enjoy watching your videos. Its inspiring since I'll be doing markets soon myself. You might want to possibly look into getting rack to hang your tote bags up, so they can seen by customers better.

It'd be good if you add a border or just do dark letters light background / do dark background w white letters for the prices to be more readable.

Oh my friend, I feel you so much. I sold my art at farmer’s market all summer, every Monday for 3 months. Everything there is either home grown or hand made. I know I know it’s a farmers market and people are their to buy food. Although I did sell a few things i realized that next year I’m going to do art markets. Even still it’s so hard when you create good art and it doesn’t sell! We have to keep going so people can see our stuff and get to know our art. I’m proud of you! You keep me going too! Love and hugs!❤

65 quid for a late organiser and No marker lines? You're kidding. In my market days I'd have been demanding partial refunds at this point. I hate organisers who acquire space just to rip off creators. At least you hit your goal for the day, and I think your Mum has a point about the blue walls being a barrier. It's so hard to get the balance by being approachable and visible whilst not also looking desperate to make sales. Sounds weird, but make something at the markets, like for instance make badges (yeah I know you don't have a badge maker) or draw or laminate prints or something. I noticed people are interested in watching you work in some way on the products you are selling when I used to do markets.

Hey, I’ve just started doing markets and the first one I did I sold out but the second one I did I barley sold anything. The moral of the story is please don’t give up, you just need to find the right audience that loves your stuff!! your totes are super cute but maybe it wasn’t the right audience at this market, maybe you need to find more markets that fit in with your business. You got this!!

I like Your strategies so far when it comes to running your small art business. but I do have a question, as small-time artist starting on Etsy, then hopefully expanding out to other recourses for income. What would you highly recommend would be the best approach for someone starting out?

Markets are funny 😅 one market I hardly sold one of my items and sold several of another so I went home and made a more of the seller. Then the next market the seller didn’t sell at all and I sold several of the one that didn’t sell. No worries it’s all different. Just come prepared and try not to have expectations. You’ll never know 😊

Could put a string or a rod through one of each display pattern of tote and hang it from the front edge of your table. Or get some hooks for the top of the grid cubes to display on the sides!

I had a market this past Saturday and had pocket notebooks for the first time. I was hopeful I’d sell out because I think they are so cute! Instead, I sold one. Ya just never know…
On a positive, I shared pictures of them on my fb and had two folks asking when they’d be up in the Etsy shop because they wanted ones! 🤷

hahah everyday is different! Some days my greetings cards sell like hot cakes and others they don't sell at all. you just have to keep putting them out there so the right people can find them!

For your tote bags, get some of those purse hooks, that people use at restaurants when they don't want to put their purses on the floor

Wow I wish our live events were that cheap over here in the US, California specifically.. the most I've paid is $900. The lowest I've paid is $150. Love your videos, keep going! There are some that are less expensive I just haven't been to any of them.. but I still don't think they're that low.
