    The man is averaging a triple double, putting 3 stats into double figures over an 82 game stretch is remarkable. People need to realize how difficult that is.

    Klay Thompson #94 in PER
    Jeremy Lin #81
    Lou Williams #34
    This stat has no meaning.

    • @ssj4randy759
      @ssj4randy759 7 ปีที่แล้ว +60

      lakers1234 yes it does.....klay Thompson is a 3rd option on his team and basically doesn't get any assists or rebounds. Jeremy lon hasn't played a lot of games so his per is inflated also he has the ball way more than klay. Lou Williams is the best sixth man in the league and he got good stats on a bad team so his is also inflated

    • @eddiebitar8421
      @eddiebitar8421 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      lakers1234 I hate these advanced state. even regular stats are overblown nowadays you can't take them seriously anymore. With all these 3's and no defence kobe would average 30 in his sleep. mj would put up about 35 each year and hit 40 a few times. So don't go on comparing players of this generation to the previous ones. Russ lebron kawhi harden KD are great. steph can shoot so he's great although overrated. PG can still be great waiting on him

    • @jackdemetros3224
      @jackdemetros3224 7 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      PER has no account for actual efficiency. It is based solely on things like points, rebounds and assists, which are the places Russel is excelling in. It really isn't that great of a stat

    • @Reeferal
      @Reeferal 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      PER is a calculation based on production in PTS, AS, REBS, counted against your turnovers and field goal efficiency then adjusted for pace. Its actually a great stat to use when trying to figure out the value of a player in comparison to someone with a similar role on another team. Klay is low in PER because his role doesn't allow him to show up in those categories the way he would if he was on a team like the Kings.
      You can't use PER alone you have to use the eye-test and context.

    • @connorsmith6517
      @connorsmith6517 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ali Kobaissi I agree it's not any small feat of averaging a triple double. But that still doesn't make you the most valuable player. Lebron is currently averaging 26/9/9 on 55% from the field and 38% from 3. And is the 1 seed. Meanwhile Westbrook is averaging 3/10/10 on 41% from the field and 30% from 3. While being the 6th seed. Who would you take? And before you bring up Lebron having a better team I agree. But that just shows how much better and efficient Lebron is compared to Westbrook. He's had the lowest usage rate in his career this year. And he's still doing better then Russell. Also just FYI I think harden should be MVP, him or lebon. Westbrook is 3rd, Kahwi 4th, and IT is 5th

    I would still say Curry's season last year was greater. 50-45-90. 402 threes. 73-9. Basically unstoppable offensively. The question is what is "great". I wouldn't say getting 10+ rebounds a game (especially when they are mostly defensive) is anything great. His 10+ assists are pretty amazing but I wouldn't say it is something phenomenal. The idea of averaging a TB is amazing but it's just blatantly obvious that WB's TBs are chased to a degree, in other words the difficulty of achieving a TB for RW is significantly lower NOT because RW is Godlike but because of how his team is playing and how he plays which results in RW being able to get TBs conveniently easier than other superstars. Last season Steph put fear into the opposition the moment he stepped passed half court. If I am the opponent I would rather face this season's RW than last season's Steph Curry. Like it's not even a debate that 15-16 Curry would demolish you if he was hot, he didn't even need the rest of his team to play good to win the game when he was hot.

    • @skating7791
      @skating7791 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oladipo, Kanter and Adams are all better than what LeBron had. Adams is one of the best defensive centers out there currently and Kanter is one of the most crafty finishing centers currently available. I love Big Z but he was not as great as people make him out to be just to discredit LeBron. He was flat mid tier on offense at best and the lowest tier for defense. Hughes was solid though.

    • @eddiebitar8421

    Tracy McGrady, Carmelo Anthony, and Dwayne Wade have had 10 triple doubles in 2,682 games combined. Russell Westbrook has had 10 in the last 12 games. Russell Westbrook is the first player in NBA history with 5 straight 30 point triple doubles. Russell Westbrook is the first player in NBA history with multiple 6 game streaks of obtaining a triple double. When Oscar Robertson averaged a triple double there were 58 MORE opportunities to get a rebound. Russell Westbrook is the MVP and it's not close.

  • @Workin0nit

    I LOVE Russ and thinks he's the most explosive player in the NBA, but this whole triple double thing is overrated. Russ is gonna finish the season having shot the ball 400+ MORE TIMES than everyone else in the league but only makes about 40% of them. He's also leading the league (along with Harden) in turnovers. We have to be consistent and take that stuff into account. Again, I love Russ but we can't just hand him MVP simply off getting some stats and ignoring other important (negative) stats. Also skip saying he's a better teammate than Lebron? Wtf anyone who actually thinks this is ignorant to the game of basketball. Players leave Russ, players take pay cuts to play WITH Lebron.

    I haven't been able to follow the NBA this year because of work and my friend told me last week "you know Westbrook is averaging a triple double?" My reply was like for the week and he said no for the season. My jaw dropped to the ground. Knowing the history of the game and how difficult it is to average a triple double, Westbrook deserves the MVP.

  • @masewaldrop92
    @masewaldrop92 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Westbrook is the MVP. Sure, his team is the 6th seed. But the Thunder are hot garbage. And to those who says that the Rockets and Thunder are equal without Harden and Westbrook. The Thunder would have the first pick every year without Westbrook and the Rockets would be a struggling playoff team or maybe 8th or 7th seed. Westbrook is making history and people are downplaying that. Plus, the MVP is voted by people who can't shoot or dribble a basketball. If the players voted, then Westbrook would win because they know how hard it is to average a triple double night in night out. Who cares about people like Curry who thinks Harden is MVP because of team seeding. Because in the words of Westbrook,"Who is he?"

    I don't get it.
    I have westbrook on my fantasy team. When you look at the FG attempts he's usually shooting 44-50% a game. I see games with 30 attempts i see games with 40 attempts.
    I look at harden - same kinda numbers
    i look at demar - same kinda numbers
    there a lot of player taking 30-40 attempts a game currently in the NBA. if your shooting 45-50% then i don't see it being a huge problem. he's also getting 10+ assists a game which is huge.

    lmao shannon making a fool out of himself. Lebron in his first stint with the CAVS averaged 21 shots per game and his peak was 23 shots per game (1 less than Westbrook). Considering Westbrooks season this here and the recording breaking usage, if you keep it relative with lebrons season where he shot 23 shots per game westbrook passes alot more....matter fact that season lebrons assist percentage was 32%, while westbrooks is 57% now!!!!!!!!!

    MJ's 96 season, LBJ's 2013 season, and Curry's 2016 season were all easily better.
    His PER is so high because rebounds are weighed heavily, PER is a very poor stat with easy loopholes, if you dip in to the advanced states I.e. Offensive/Defensive Rating you will see he is the most inefficient superstar in the NBA and add that along with shooting 42% and 5.4 TO.

    Lebron could average a triple double, he's a better passer, better at attacking the rim and better and grabbing boards, he just hasn't because it's not what's best for the team, why didn't he average a triple double last year, because he had to pass to Durant who was a more efficient player, for gods sake this guys field goal percentage is less than Curry's 3 point percentage when he's getting bashed for having a bad year. And this might be a shocker but this year Curry has actually been a better defender than Westbrook, he's not anywhere as physical and gets blown by way quicker but he still contests more shots than Westbrook does and his his team defending iq is miles ahead of Westbrook's so can you all stop glorifying a ball hogging, inefficient player who stat pads at every given opportunity

      No team would want them. Definitely not as starters. They're inconsistent for one like most young players. 2 they don't play well on the road like the majority of young players and even some veteran role players. 3 ALL of them can be countered easily. Very easily. Kanter for starters. Can't defend the pick and roll and is not a good defender period. Doesn't have court awareness or vision for someone as skilled in the low post as him. All you have to do is double him or send a help defender. He'll never see it coming. Oladipo...inconsistent and he doesn't put pressure on an opposing defense. Evidence he doesn't get to the line that often. He'll more than likely settle for a step back jumper. Adams...only has two moves in the post and is only a threat in the pick and roll

      raheem Won more, that doesn't make sense. Curry won more with Draymond Green, Thompsom and Harrison Barnes. who does Westbrook have? Exactly. Plus Westbrook has more steals than Curry and wayyyyyy more assists leading his team to the playoffs with a bunch of nobodies. Don't be ridiculous. Getcha ball game knowledge up son.

    Wilt Jordan Lebron And Curry had way better seasons with way less attempts.. Russell is a stat padder... Don't even bring up Curry's finals because at least they went to the finals unlike Westbrook and Curry beat Westbrook with KD to do it

    6th place team should not have a regular season MVP. Get a first round home court advantage and the OKC team was projected to be placed higher than the Rockets in the beginning of the season.

      Preseason predictions are meaningless.

      It's meaningless now but no one was buying that Harden had a better team. Does Harden really have that leap of a team over Russell. He just making his team better than Russell imho.
