Kabutops in the thumbnail makes me excited since that was one of the MVPs on my recent FireRed team! Raichu, Nidoking, Golduck, Kabutops, Flareon, and Vileplume, picked for me by a friend. The funny thing is that in the end Raichu and Kabutops carried most battles, and hilariously Nidoking took a backseat.

I have a fun Kalos team from my playthrough of Y version, it was my second Kalos playthrough so I wanted to try something different and choose some fun Pokemon that I never used before. The final team ended up being:
    - Delphox: Psychic, Flamethrower, Psyshock and Calm Mind
    - Gogoat: Horn Leech, Earthquake, Leech Seed and Bulk Up
    - Toxicroak: Poison Jab, Brick Break, Earthquake and Power-Up Punch
    - Aerodactyl (mega): Aerial Ace, Earthquake, Rock Slide and Fly
    - shiny Kingdra (Chain Fishing method for shiny Horsea): Waterfall, Facade, Dragon Dance and Dragon Pulse
    - Stunfisk: Thunderbolt, Surf, Sludge Bomb and Mud Bomb
I really liked using this team, especially Stunfisk since it took out Diantha's mega Gardevoir.

You didn't mention it but if Vaporeon sets up Rain it is also beneficial for Venusaur and Magneton, as they would take neutral damage from Fire Type moves.

I once did a side by side playthrough with Fire Red and Leaf Green, one team as a more masculine team and one team a more feminine team. In both games I ditched my starter for a Nidoking and Nidoqueen just before MT. Moon
    FIRE RED: Male trainer
    Golem
    Electabuzz
    Poliwrath
    Arcanine
    Victreebell
    Nidoking
    LEAF GREEN: Female trainer
    Wigglytuff
    Dodtrio
    Rapidash
    Dewgong
    Vileplume
    Nidoqueen
I had so much fun as a kid with these playthroughs and it encouraged me to try out some Pokémon I'd never used by thst point.

  • @Queer-Eye

I remember my team for black and white having the fire/water/grass core, and even breeding on a move. I didn’t use my starter:
Scrafty: High jump kick, Crunch, Facade, Dig. It moxie sweep though a lot.
Sigilyph: Air slash, Tailwind, Fly, Psychic. Did fall of a bit at the end, but still very helpful.
Ferrothorn: Power whip, Protect, Leech seed, Thunder wave. Breed to get leech seed, helped a lot.
Crustle: X-Scissor, Rock slide, Sheel smash, Shadow claw. She’ll smash is a very good move.
Chandelure: Fire blast, Shadow ball, will-O-wisp, Flame charge. The increased speed helped a lot.
Seismitoad: Earthquake, Surf, Grass Knot, Rain dance. Surprisingly good at certain points.

I decided to do another run with this team and optimize it further. Besides the blunder with megnaton and light screan I found quite a few places where it could be better.
    Venusaur (same)
    Razerleaf, sleep powder, leachsead, strength.
    Fearow (same)
Secret power, fly, hyperbeam, areal ace/drill peck.
Dugtrio (using repel, you can get one already at lvl 29)
Eq/dig, slash/secret power, rock tomb, aerial ace.
Aerial ace is better used on dugtrio and it's a move besides a 2 turn dig in rock tunnel
    Vaporeon
    Surf, icebeam, toxic, rest.
Rest and toxic can help in a couple cases.
Megnaton (repel you can get a higher level)
    Rain dance, thunder, tbolt, twave.
You have a lot more opportunities to use rain dance and have it be worth it. Plus vaporeon doesn't need the boost in damage as much.
    Kabutops
    Rockslide, slash, mudsport, surf.
Slash is a bit more spamable since rockslide has only 10pp. Anything aerial ace is effective against, you don't wanna stay in on. Surf will still do passable/to great damage thanks solely on stab and base power.
I'd love to know how your playthrough turns out if you decide to do it.

    • @ultimaterecoil1136
      @ultimaterecoil1136 ปีที่แล้ว

You should really be running substitute on venusaur if we wanna be totally optimal even over razor leaf if you have to be using strength on venusaur. Sub seed+ a sleep move is just such an effective combo and leech seed. Like venusaur’s just worse then exeggutor if you aren’t using it as a subseeder since psychic’s so strong offensively but does have relevant defensive downsides.

I'll throw in my Black 2 team since it was the first game I've ever played. I absolutely love this team a lot and they've give me such fond memories of my middle school days.
    Samurott: Surf, Waterfall Megahorn, Revenge
Braviary: Aerial ace, Superpower, Hone claws, Fly
Lucario: Aura sphere, Shadow ball, Close combat, Swords dance
Magnezone: T-bolt, T-wave, Flash cannon, Tri attack
Chandelure: Flamethrower, Shadow ball, Energy ball, Will o wisp
Claydol: Rock slide, Earthquake, Psychic, Energy ball.
Not the most creative team but I certainly enjoyed these guys and the adventures we went on.

Rampardos: Rock Slide, Earthquake, Fire Punch and Strength.
Vaporeon: Surf, Ice Beam, Aqua Ring and Waterfall/Toxic.
Togekiss: Fly, Air Slash, Shadow Ball and Flamethrower.
Lucario: Close Combat, Dragon Pulse, Shadow Claw, and Rock Climb.
Porygon Z: Tri Attack, Psychic, Thunderbolt and Signal Beam.

Here’s my Best Team for Hoenn Specifically for ORAS:
Swampert: it’s the best starter why wouldn’t I choose it, It’s stats are phenomenal, has a type combo that can’t be beat, except with grass which you really don’t need to worry about, and it’s movepool ain’t bad.
*Moves: Surf, Waterfall, Ice Beam, and Earthquake*
Surf is given to you by Wally’s Dad after defeating Norman. Waterfall from Wallace by beating him, Ice beam can be found at Sea Mauville and Earthquake is found at the Seafloor Cavern.
Breloom: I’m quite surprised you haven’t considered it as an option for a Hoenn best team. Shroomish is found really early inside Petalburg Woods and can support Swampert if needed. 130 base attack is really something and while 70 base speed isn’t the best, it’s pretty average overall. Plus all the dark and water types aren’t really gonna like seeing this mushroom boi.
*Moves: Seed Bomb, Mach Punch, Bulk up or Toxic and Stone Edge*
At Level 44 Breloom gets Seed Bomb, use Mega Drain until then, Mach Punch learned after evolving and it’s great for priority. Bulk Up is given to you by Brawly and Toxic is found in Fiery Path I don’t what you prefer so I’ll let you decide. Last is Stone Edge for some coverage that’s given to you at the Lilycove Department Store.
Swellow: is our Flyer is this team and was thinking either it or Crobat for this team. I know how much you love Crobat with it’s speed and poison coverage, but to be honest there’s not alot of Fairy Types in this game aside from fairy users like Fairytale girls and Psychics that like to use the Ralts line. But I do have plan for those random Fairies though so just be patient. Swellow can do just as good if not better, also try to catch a guts Taillow on route 104.
*Moves: Fly, Facade, Steel Wing, Brave Bird*
Fly is obtained from Brendan/May. Facade is bought at the Mauville Pokémart for $10,000
Steel Wing is given to you from Steven on your first encounter and Brave Bird is learned at Level 51.
Magnezone: I’m gonna say it, Magnezone is way better than Manectric. It’s got a fantastic typing, better move usage, and while it may not have a Mega, it doesn’t really need to rely on Hidden Power for coverage. Magnemite is found through horde encounters on route 210. Catch a Surskit on route 102 and get it to level 9 then it will learn sweet scent, you don’t have to use Surskit throughout your journey, just get it to Level 9 and put it the PC until the time comes, oh and this is our counter for fairies btw.
*Moves: Thunderbolt, Volt Switch, Tri Attack, and Flash Cannon* Thunderbolt and Volt Switch are given to you by Wattson at different times one by beating him and the other by helping him fix the thing at New Mauville. Tri Attack is learned after Magnemite evolves and Flash Cannon 3 levels after.
Gardevoir: Couldn’t forget to put this lovely prince on this team. Ralts can be found on Route 102. Gardy has that fairy type which is great is in case Breloom needs some back up. Not much else to say except nice stats and movepool.
*Moves: Psychic, Calm Mind, Thunderbolt, Moonblast*
Psychic is learned at Level 31, Calm Mind at level 26, Thunderbolt I don’t really need to say it since I just told you were it was, and Moonblast at 62 though if that’s too long of a wait, use Dazzling Gleam, given to you by a Fairytale Girl on Route 123.
Exploud: this was the last member I chose, because we really didn’t need anything else, so I went with a Normal type. Whisper is found at Rusturf Tunnel and is just really easy to get. Also word of advice using Boomburst is more powerful than Return. Your Welcome.
*Moves: Boomburst, Shadow Ball, Earthquake and Fire Blast*
Boomburst is learn at Level 58 keep using Hyper Voice until then, Shadow Ball is found at Mt. Pyre, Fire Blast at the Lilycove Department Store, and Earthquake at the Seafloor Cavern.

I did a shiny badge quest in Fire red. Started over 32.000 SR for a shiny Charmander, that become a beautiful Charizard, named Alduin.
Then followed by a golden Magikarp that you can buy in the pokemon center right before Mt. Moon for only 2646 SR. Gyarados, named Skulkraken, it’s shiny backsprite in gen 3 is just gorgeous.
After that I went for Eevee in Celadon, who decided to shine after 12825 SR. This Eevee became Sparky the Jolteon.
Then I wanted some fast hunts so I did Abra at the Celadon Game corner, who shined after 10134. This female Abra was called Hermione.
Then I was hunting for a shiny Doduo and got it on my first phase on route 18 after on the dot only 1200 RE. This speedy three-headed girl was called Bianca.
Lastly I got a shiny male Nidoran at the safari zone who became a stunning Nidoking, named Jimmy.
This was done on a real cartridge of Fire red. I don’t play on emulators.

I used kabutops in my red playthrough I did in between classes. Mainly because I was tired of training slowpoke/Slowbro and I just like him.

Attempt 2, Here's my submission: My Platinum team and it has quite the story to it.
Torterra, Manaphy, shiny Electivire, Altaria, Mamoswine, and Houndoom.
Yes you read that right, Manaphy. Back in the day, people in the GTS would trade anything for anything, so I put one of the legebdaries in the GTS, like Azelf or something and I got a Manaphy and traded it over into Platinum at the start of the game.
Same with my Electivire, I really wanted one on my team but you don't get it until right before Sunyshore city and I don't like getting a team member so late so I caught the electabuzz, bred it, and traded it over to the new Platinum file, so I started the game out with Turtwig, Elekid, and Manaphy before even fighting Roark.
You wanna know the other crazy thing? The elekid I hatched was shiny, but I didn't know it. Because in Platinum, base Elekid is orange and his SHINY is yellow. So I hatched him, thinking it was just another elekid, when instead I got a shiny without even trying.

my kalos team was the best team but when i caught helioptile it had Pokérus and it spread to my entire team which made it blasting through the elite 4 much quicker. though Pokémon White i did something interesting where i chose to do almost an entire team of Dual Type Pokemon and finding a full odds shiny rufflet while training in the dark grass to evolve fraxure to haxorus.
Team I Used and their move sets:
    Emboar:
    Flamethrower

Arbok is quite underrated for FireRed
    Arbok - Hardy Nature
    Intimidate
    Sludge Bomb
    Bite
    Earthquake
    Giga Drain
    (252 attack / 4 Hp / 252 special attack)
Bite and giga drain will cover its weakness of psychic and ground types and can also attack the grass water fire trio on some teams easily too as well as hitting the psychic types for damage.
Use leftovers as a hold item on top of giga drain and you have a snake who drains the life out of a few things

If I was so replay X and Y I would decide to use Pokémon I like and I feel don’t get much of the spotlight. Firstly, Greninja such a cool Pokémon and love using it. I personally like to run the special Greninja set over the Physical being Surf/Scald, Dark Pulse, Ice Beam and Grass Knot. Secondly, Florges I think it’s a really fun Fairy type that doesn’t get much use because it’s outshined by Gardevoir. For its moves I’d use Moonblast, Petal Blizzard, Wish and Calm Mind. Thirdly, Meowstic again a good Psychic type outshined by Gardevoir which can play differently depending on the gender with its ability (I prefer the female personally). Moves I would use would be Psychic, Shadow Ball, Thunderbolt and Calm Mind. Fourthly, Gogoat it’s a very fun grass type with a cool design in my opinion. I would use the moves Horn Leech, Bulldoze, Strength and Leech Seed. Next, I need a Pokémon with fly so I would choose Dodrio because I’ve never used one and would really like to use one because it looks like a really fun Pokémon to use. The moves I’d use would be Fly, Drill Peck, Facade and Steel Wing (maybe Swords Dance instead of Facade or Steel Wing). Finally, as my last Pokémon is going to be something I’ve always wanted to use but never got round to it because there was just better options…Pyroar. While it may not be a good fire type I like to have a fire type on my team because it’s my favourite type and tbh make Pyroar does have a cool design, plus I really want to make this thing work. For the moves I would use Flamethrower, Hyper Voice, Solar Beam and Sunny Day. As an honourable mention if I decided to not use my starter I would use Clawitzer as it has such a cool design and a really fun move pool and ability. I would use Water Pulse, Darl Pulse, Aura Sphere and Ice Beam to take full advantage of the Mega Launcher ability.

    So.
My team didn't make the cut.
    Do I care?
    No. Not at all.
Even if I don't get the cut, at least others do.
Then again, I don't recall ever really commenting my team here.
    Oh well.
Here it is now (it's for Yellow, and I used trades because I have some crazy patience, fair warning):
    Pikachu
    -Thunderbolt
    -Body Slam
    -Quick Attack
    -Thunder Wave
    Sandslash
    -Earthquake
    -Slash
    -Rock Slide
-Poison Sting (I couldn't find any better moves to combat the Grass types that actually take supereffective damage)
    Charizard
    -Flamethrower
    -Fly
    -Earthquake
    -Body Slam
    Vileplume
-Petal Dance (the ONLY family that gets it in Gen 1, for some dumb reason)
    -Acid
    -Body Slam
    -Stun Spore
    Vaporeon
    -Surf
-Blizzard/Ice Beam (interchangeable. I prefer Ice Beam because Pokemon Stadium 2, but hey)
    -Toxic
-Quick Attack/Double Team (because I don't intend to use it on my friends)
    Kangaskhan
    -Body Slam
    -Strength
    -Earthquake
    -Rock Slide
Definitely an unwieldy team (No Psychic types, for crying out loud!), but I made it WORK and actually beat the game with it

I do this challenge thing where I do a team based on the region, and not so much for the game itself so the benefits and moves change from game to game, so it's a mixed bag. But say I was a main character in a Pokemon spinoff manga, my Kanto team would be Arcanine, as my "pre-starter," Venusaur, Nidoking, Alakazam, Gyarados, and Dragonite. Honestly until we get a real Kanto reboot in a thousand years, my squad here would only be at it's "best" in its own region in LGP/LGE. Lol. But I love my Kanto team.

I have made a team from
My favorite Pokémon to use if I was ever champion: Feraligatr my first ever Pokémon in Pokémon crystal with the moves dragon claw, liquidation, ice fang, and earthquake along with it having the ability sheer force and it holding a life orb it is an absolute beast and it taking out all of this weaknesses and combined with another Pokémon I have later on it should be unbeatable if used right! Next is lucario, and yes I mega evolve mine as well!!! My move set for it is extreme speed, aura sphere, dragon pulse, and psychic!!! With the ability steadfast. I absolutely love lucario and would be my favorite Pokémon if it wasn’t for Feraligatr. Next we have gardevoir!!! With it being so versatile you can put so many move sets on it but for mine it either like to use calm mind, psychic, moonblast, and energy ball with the psychicium z or hypnosis, psychic, moonblast, and dream eater. Either or is good and I use the ability sychronize! Next one is absol with it holding the black glasses!!! Absol is my favorite dark type and I love it because it always try’s to help people and is just misunderstood!!! The move set I use is swords dance, night slash, aerial ace,and x-scissor with the ability super luck it should miss hopefully!!! And my second to last Pokémon is lycanroc but ima use midday form! My favorite animal is a wolf so it’s only fitting to use one and I just love lycanroc in general sooo without further ado the moveset is iron head, fire fang, stone edge and stealth rock to add some chip damage before it faints. I also added a focus sash to it due to it having low defenses along with the keen eye ability. And last but not least is tapu fini my favorite tapu and I just love water types!!! So the moveset I use for it is rain dance, surf, ice beam, and dazzling gleam. With it having rain dance , holding a mystic water to power up its own water type moves and Feraligatr’s I couldn’t say no to it! And it’s ability is obviously misty surge. Hope you like my team👍

    Y team
Delphox my starter witch I named sage
Samurott witch I traded over as a oshawatt egg from my first black two save file using Pokémon bank and transport didn’t nick name
Lucario witch I caught as a riolu on route 22 because I thought it would be funny to not use the one Korrina gives you and steal it’s mega stone named him Jet
Roserade named Lin witch I named after the character in the legend of korra witch made every battle easy because of toxic spikes
My scizor named steelsight witch I don’t know why I named it that but I wanted to use a scizor because it’s one of my favorite Pokémon
And finally a shiny florges witch I remember the night I found it I also had to change my team around it since I planed on using a different Pokémon but decided to use the shiny.
Move sets delphox: flame thrower psychic will o wisp and calm mind
Samurott: surf ice beam x scissor and water fall
Lucario: aura sphere dragon pulse earth quake and swords dance
Roserade: energy ball sludge bomb leech seed and toxic spikes
Scizor: iron head x scissor bullet punch and swords dance
Florges: energy ball moon blast leech seed sweet sent witch I use for horde shiny hunting also florges’s move set kinda sucks

That's a pretty cool team, I've never thought about doing a weather team like that in an older generation. When I did my playthrough of Brilliant Diamond I used a rain team that was pretty fun. My team was:
    Pelipper
    Ability: Drizzle
Item: Damp Rock (for extended rain)
    Surf
    Hurricane
U-Turn (to pivot after setting rain)
    Roost
    Toxicroak
    Ability: Dry Skin
    Item: Black Sludge
    Bulk Up
    Poison Jab
    Drain Punch
Sucker Punch (Great for the psychic types who thought they had an easy matchup)
    Magnezone
    Ability: Sturdy
    Item: Magnet
    Thunder
    Volt Switch
    Flash Cannon
Charge Beam (this thing was a monster after +1)
    Roserade
    Ability: Poison Point
Item: Choice Specs (one shot machine)
    Giga Drain
    Sludge Bomb
    Dazzling Gleam
    Shadow Ball
    Scizor
    Ability: Technician
    Item: Metal Coat
Swords Dance (game over after one use)
    U-Turn
    Bullet Punch
    Wing Attack
Kingdra (my friend and I completed the Pokedex before facing elite 4 to get National)
    Ability: Swift Swim
    Item: Dragon Fang
    Surf
    Draco Meteor
    Hydro Pump
    Ice Beam
What surprised me the most was Toxicroak was by far the most fun to use. The drain punch in rain with dry skin plus black sludge made it virtually unkillable, especially after using bulk up. I actually swept Cynthia's team using it after switching it in on Milotic since it was immune to Milotic's water moves. I was able to bulk up for free to +6 in attack and defense since ice beam didn't do too much damage after recovery, and the Milotic used mirror coat multiple times too. Never dreamed Toxicroak would have OHKO'd Garchomp with Drain Punch after taking an Earthquake, but I guess that goes to show you should never underestimate Croak lol.

I'll throw in my team for Pokemon X, I've had it since 2019 and it was the first time I've rotated my team regularly between gym battles and had 15 by the end that I swapped between at a regular pace.
But if I had to chose six it would be this.
    Greninja (Sheikah) Lv. 78
    Item: Expert Belt
    Moves: Night Slash/Extrasensory/Rain Dance/Water Shuriken
Sadly not a Protean Greninja but it was my starter and I loved using him. I only really used Rain Dance to power Water Shuriken up as well as to make a move of my second Pokemon more accurate.
    Raichu (Riju) Lv. 75
    Item: Zap Plate
    Moves: Thunderbolt/Grass Knot/Dig/Thunder
I always had a Pikachu on the team as a kid and that didn't change here, this one won me a lot of battles even before I evolved her and Grass Knot was amazing to use against Ground Types.
    Aurorous (Anouki) Lv. 71
    Item: Quick Claw
    Moves: Ice Beam/Return/Rock Tomb/Thunderbolt
I've always used Tyrunt before, this time however I decided to go with the other fossil Pokemon and found that I really enjoyed using him. He really helped carry me at certain points in the game.
    Snorlax (Groose) Lv. 73
    Item: Leftovers
    Moves: Return/Strength/Belly Drum/Protect
The special tank of my team, I gave him the Leftovers for obvious reasons and just went to town with Belly Drum and Protect to get hp back after maxing the attack before sweeping. Granted it didn't always work but when it did I was extremely happy.
    Goodra (Naydra) Lv. 74
    Item: Choice Specs
    Moves: Thunderbolt/Dragon Pulse/Flamethrower/Ice Beam
My main Special Attacker and the first time I used a Psuedo Legendary, I had a ton of fun tearing into opponents with my Goodra who could tank special attacks and deal the damage back twice as much thanks to the held item.
    Charizard (Valoo) Lv. 73
    Item: Charizardite X
    Moves: Dragon Claw/Flare Blitz/Shadow Claw/Flamethrower
And of course I used Charizard, I know he's overrated by a lot of people, but Charizard was the very first Pokemon I ever used so he holds a special place in my heart and I loved his mega form. He also helped balanced my team out early game since I also chose him to counter the grass weakness Greninja had.
Honorary team members who didn't make the best team was Aegislash (Fi) and Lucario (Ezlo)
... Yeah I did a Zelda naming theme for my team with this save file.

I'm doing a Blue Pokemon Team Casual Playthrough through Gen 3-5 games. Utilizing Rain and Hail team is very strong considering Lapras and Vaporeon are available for most games and water starter are strong enough to carry a team.

    Kabutops should’ve been Rock/Bug type

Dude, those movesets leave so much to be desired… Throw some more status moves in there, and save the HM’s for a Gyarados.
Also, you say Kabutops has poor special attack when a rain boosted surf will still hit for double the power? Why even bother with giga drain? Give that to Venasaur for crying out loud!
Good video quality, but poor moveset dimension.

Kabutops without surf still doesn't make sense tho, why would you ditch surf that is a strong stab move that is powered by rain, but keep a weak move with low pp that is not even stab like giga drain?

      @lightningwolf788 2 ปีที่แล้ว

Mostly cause it actually isn't the *strongest* due to it being Special, and they had Vaporeon on the team for their Water stab. I had a similar thing where I had Golduck and Kabutops, and I mostly used Kabutops for Rock Slide and various physical coverage, and Golduck was my Surf user as well as other special coverage.

@@lightningwolf788 but giga drain still doesn't make sense, if he wanted a ground coverage surf is still better

@@ssirt_ I don't remember my exact thoughts on it but I don't see many scenarios where I'd use surf. Maybe against Giovanni or Bruno's onix but at that point, Vaporeon or venusaur would be better. At the same time, I didn't have much use for gigadrain either. I think I just wanted to be creative simce there wasn't a much better move other than surf.

@@ssirt_ no you're ok. Hindsight, I probably would go with surf if I did another run. Just because there's not really a better choice.

Hopefully, we finally get a no restrictions best team completion with RBY, B2W2, USUM and the Let's Go games.
