When I watched this episode I was not a bit surprised by the issues you had with the attachment. I purchases a landscape rake from Titan Attachments. It was advertised as quick hitch compatible but was not. I called and was given two choices, pay to have it shipped back for a refund or take a $100 credit and keep it. I am a disabled vet. Shipping was cost prohibitive. I took the $100 credit deal. I never got the $100 credit. I sold the rake but still ended up losing $200. I will not do business with Titan again.
Really appreciate the way you take us along on your journey. Never afraid to show you don't know everything gives us all a chance to learn along with you. Thanks
Courtney, I appreciate you leaving in the scene about the 3pt turnbuckle adjustments when you say something similar to "I hate these things". Even with the advancements in quality and simplicity, sometimes things are just a pain in the butt, and it's nice to hear that acknowledged as you tend to do.
Have the DR on 1025R. Takes a lot of getting used to. I have barb wire, uneven topography, plenty of undulations. Two friends tried in similar environment, gave up and sent back. I think it just takes adjustments and patience. This is my 2nd season. Unfortunately I waited till end of mowing season so all growth of weeds and grasses mature. I'm ready to start this yr with fresh growth at a manageable height. Ur smart to start trimming high and lower as u gain experience. Uneven trimming will eat cords like u wouldn't believe. It's interesting to see ur trim path narrow as strings wear. Be patient, try to drive straight, and the slower the better. 1025R perfect fit for attachment, no load what so ever. Good luck to all!
My Brother brought a DR unit Similar to this Titan about 4 years ago to cut the banks around the State Lake in Al he manages. This unit has worked pretty flawless, with the only major change he made by putting a solid runner tire on the trail wheel. This Unit has cut roughly 1.5 miles of lake 3 times a year for 4 years now. The only parts he has purchased is a belt, set of idlers and the bottom hub that is at bottom of cutter head. This item seems to wear thin in time. This unit was mounted on a 750 compact 4 wheel drive John Deere tractor. It has been a lifesaver to keep this much bank cut.
Courtney, I bought the DR trimmer. It does work with the quick hitch but tends to hang up on the top link a bit. Overall I had similar issues. Far as use it’s ok but doesn’t work as good as they show in their videos. I have their walk behind trimmer and it works good but I needed something to cut between posts. Bottom line I spent a lot of money on an attachment that takes up room.
The loader mount on that tractor is so beautifully curved. We really need a mower like this. We have around a thousand trees in an orchard and cutting the grass down around the trees is done with brushcutters. This is hard work and takes days. However a lot of trees are too small for a mower like this so it will be maybe two more years before we buy one. Most probably I’ll look for a hydraulically powered mower and not have the hassle of pto shafts. Running hydraulically could also allow the possibility of fixing it to a mowing deck so both mowing and trimming can be done at the same time.
The only thing different on the titan from my DR is the grey cover on top. I run mine with a bx2680 and it handles it fine. Plus it’s nice to use the smaller tractor for those inside corners because it’s so nimble. That long bolt at the pivot point (under the pto) is to lock it in horizontal position for transport or most fence applications. The other hole is used to lift the 3pt and let the head go down deep into ditches or pond banks. I find in the “locked” hole it still has enough flexibility for under fences. One word of advice. That nut till come loose. I put a big wing nut on mine and drilled one of the wings so I could tie it in with a piece of wire so it wouldn’t get lost (again) haha.
You will also likely need to play with the spring tension so it behaves how you want when you use around the posts. Mine was too loose from factory and it tended to pull backwards just from the gauge wheel riding on the ground
They are a handy unit, a orange orchard I do some consulting work for use a Fischer brand unit for trimming under the oranges works a treat. You want the trimmer line to be half inch to an inch shorter than the bump guard. They're used in vineyards so you'll be fine using on grapes, just keep the trimmer line shorter as mentioned and keep the tension off the spring so that the guard doesn't damage the vine. I personally just use a JD F1145 to mow under the fences with abit of round up for the posts.
Yeah, that spring tension is my biggest concern...seems like it could rip the plants right out of the ground, haha! Round Up must be okay around grapevines?
@@GoodWorksTractors yeah the spring was my biggest concern as well but I just set it at it's least springy setting lol and was all good. For grass control around grapes I'd be using fusilade forte (not sure if you guys get that in the states) active ingredient is Fluazifop-p
Hi, I think you could slice a hose long ways, put it into the round guard circumference, and sucure with plastic electrical wire ties after predrilling tie holes through the guard for for them. This would give your guard a softer bumper when it's going around post, trees, grape vines, etc. You could experiment with other materials like foam nodules, pipe foam insulation, multiple layers of hosing or combinations of per say to cushion the bump of the guard hitting delicate objects 🤠
I have owned the DR trimmer type for about 4 years. Its good on level ground but has problems in corners or where it undulates alot. I had issues with the drive system as it is one very long belt and not sized strong enough. Fixed it by using a linked belt - strong and replaceable when you jump a wheel inside drive. I also had to get a replacement wheel hub as it melted when it came in contact with ground - hilly land - and backing up to get into corners. Inside corners are the worst to get and my paddocks all have them (4) . I also got tied of replaceing the strings so I made a disc to cut. Used a round flat disc from ASC (a coulture disc) - and swinging knives (From Rural king) by punching 4 holes around exterior and made the central hole bigger to size. It works great now but I make sure it is off anytime I leave the seat of tractor as it will really cut.The combination is still smaller than the wheel guards so it is safe to use. I wish I had a dedicated tractor as it is a pain to get on and off, but thats tractor attachements.
Wouldn’t centrifugal force throw those trimmer strings right out the way they are installed like that? Seems like you would just push the cord in a couple inches until it catches so that centrifugal force would cause the line to tighten.
Agreed. I think the 10mm or whatever he said was the pushed out measurement, and not the push it through until 10mm is left. Spin it up and see, but as he has them, they are going to fly out is my thought as well. Just had an extra thought. That 10mm pushed through would be to grab on to and pull it through if you wore them down to nothing and weren't able to push it out with a new string.
A fence line I need to cut has a gully next to it. The offset on that POS is enough that I’d roll my tractor. Be useable if the offset was even with outside of tire, or a couple inches more. My rear tire is 2-3” off the fence when I rotary cut. I pretty much have too (and do) spray that fence line.
I look forward to seeing it operating, but I will probably be using my handheld weed wacko. I need the exercise and I have a sense that the attachment will be more work than expected.

I'm sure it does, but it is not that heavy. 330 lbs total. Also, while in use, there is a gauge wheel for support. So, the offset load would only apply when the 3 point lifts that gauge wheel off the ground. At least that's how it works in my head!
@@GoodWorksTractors once I got to the end of your video where you show it sitting level on the guide wheel I was thinking the same. I guess that is why that is there to take that weight instead of pulling the tractor to the side. Nice overview. It’s a shame about the quick hitch, the top link, and that transport bolt should have a pin and not a nut for quicker removal in the field. I’ll be curious what your experience with it is over time.
I'm interested for sure. If you could adjust the tilt on the fly, I could see that for trimming things like roadside ditches as well. I guess there's a reason the string doesn't extend out past the edge of the protective shield like the small hand held weed eaters do?
I have the DR one. If you have perfectly placed fence posts it'll work well. It's really hard to get around trees that aren't in a straight row and are the same size and spacing.
I have a Titan grapple and, while the price was right, it isn’t welded square at all. I got it to fit my JD quick attach only with the liberal assistance of a large hammer.
My problem with Pat's is you then have to play around with turnbuckles on my attachments....I hate turnbuckles. I don't think it saves me much time if I have to individually line up and connect each arm including the top link. I'll just do it the normal way without any quick system if that's the case. I've used Pat's, just not the solution for me.
@@GoodWorksTractors For now I am just doing it the old fashion way. Bit of a pain, but as noobie I think I should learn it the hard way before buying any quick hitch.
I would worry about that long bolt coming loose and falling out. Drill a hole in the end of the bolt and put in a small retaining pin I lost 2 bolts on My Backhoe subframe mount that was preassembled Bought a whole set of six cheaper that buying two bolts from NAPA.
Interested in hearing what your plans are for the new property and how that relates to the other property. Maybe I missed that but I don't think so. I think you mentioned this one has a house but I don't think you have shown it. Have, or are you, moving there? I believe I have watched all your property project videos and just curious. Are you parting with the prior property or do you still have long range plans for it?
There are two different Titan companies, Titan Attachments and Titan Implements. Titan Attachments is Chinese made stuff, while Titan Implements is based in Tennessee. It's possible these names get confused, and Titan Implements gets blamed for the poorer quality implements. I have a T.I. landscape rake and a T.I. UM1272 tiller. Both are well made and are QH compatible. They both also have stickers that say "Made in USA, with US and imported parts."
Your fab guy could whip out a QH compatible bracket for that easily. If you could keep the price in the < $250 range (or better, $200), people might be willing to buy it.
He probably could! Not sure about the price point though...get's back to that USA steel, USA labor, shipping costs, profit, marketing, the unknown, etc.
The local dealer bought something similar trying to sell it to the local Organic Dairy farms. The problem is the ground is rough and the weeds under the fence need a metal blade to cut effectively.
This is so interesting. It looked rather frustrating to assemble directions a little vague. Not everyone is an engineer. Really need it to be quick hitch compatible
Yeah, fortunately not a whole lot to assemble, so could figure it out. Strange it isn't compatible though, I don't know why anyone wouldn't make it compatible unless there is a reason not to.
Yup, Titan "quality" :) and, I bought a ballast box that was supposedly "quick hitch compatible" and the width was right but the bushings were all wrong, couldn't take the adapter and weren't even easy/standard to replaced.
Just my 2 cents worth: Unless you want to cut the grapes, stay clear. Also stay clear of blackberry and raspberry brambles unless you want to cut them down.
Looks like it has the best (worst) QC China has to offer. If you have some time to kill head to your local Harbor Freight and check their hitch plates and attachments. They're a sea of off center poor quality welds with slag not removed before painting. The attention to detail appears to be on par with that piece of equipment
Shame it’s not hydraulic, and would be better if the shield rotated, just saying ! Oh be good if it was available in Aus with bobcat att plate Cheers from Aus
Any string type trimmer will girdle small trees and plants...then they die. My neighbor did me a favor and weed wacked around some 3' tall spruce trees and now they are dead.
That's my fear...I'm not sure what this will do to fence posts either...just the repeated wear. You can see it in residential yards with weed whippers over time.
Courtney, do you feel like your 3025E is underpowered? It seems like you prefer the 1025R. I’m in the market but it seems like the 3025E is more bang for your buck but am I missing something?
to me titan is a direct competitor to you, we buy attachments from you not cuz its cheat but because we know they will work and are built properly . if all they want is cheap tool, titan will be for them.
Looks like they want you to "grease" the gearbox, every 100 hrs, interesting, not fill it with oil. Seems sketchy..... Yes, I have several "TA" implements, good and bad, so interested in how this works for you.
i will never buy anything from Titan again. I bought a pellet fork frame and it came in bent up and the first time I used it the mounting hooks bent and it fell off the tractor. They are cheaper for a reason a lesson I still have to learn from time to time.

@@GoodWorksTractors For now I am just doing it the old fashion way. Bit of a pain, but as noobie I think I should learn it the hard way before buying any quick hitch.
What root ripper do you recommend for a John Deere 5074? I will pull it along tree lines, some with large oak trees.
I would worry about that long bolt coming loose and falling out.
Drill a hole in the end of the bolt and put in a small retaining pin
I lost 2 bolts on My Backhoe subframe mount that was preassembled
Bought a whole set of six cheaper that buying two bolts from NAPA.
How you think this would work on vinyl posts?
Interested in hearing what your plans are for the new property and how that relates to the other property. Maybe I missed that but I don't think so. I think you mentioned this one has a house but I don't think you have shown it. Have, or are you, moving there? I believe I have watched all your property project videos and just curious. Are you parting with the prior property or do you still have long range plans for it?
Awwww...teaser, lol.....good vid...thank you🚜👨🌾🚜
😁
Would love to find a 3 point sickle bar mower for this kind of work prolly next year
oh yea, thats a much better solution
Great idea, buy new property as an excuse to have more tractor attachments! 👍👍
It seems to be a hit and miss with TITAN on their fabrication quality.
I agree
There are two different Titan companies, Titan Attachments and Titan Implements. Titan Attachments is Chinese made stuff, while Titan Implements is based in Tennessee. It's possible these names get confused, and Titan Implements gets blamed for the poorer quality implements. I have a T.I. landscape rake and a T.I. UM1272 tiller. Both are well made and are QH compatible. They both also have stickers that say "Made in USA, with US and imported parts."
With two different websites? www.palletforks.com and what's the other one?
@@JCWren I’ve read stories from people that have had issues from both TITAN Companies.
I’ve had good luck with Titan products myself.
I wanted one but so far not quick hitch compatible … strike 1 top pin not fitting strike 2 ya so I dont know .
The other fence mower that is on market is Wright Fence Mower. Has steel blade and is very heavy.
I bought the dr equipment one and it works well on my 1025r
Nice, I figure these gotta work just fine on subcompacts. Can't put much of a load on the tractor.
The string head looks like the DR upgraded one on my dr trimmer.
Will look forward to test run video ??? I got questions 🤔
I feel everything should be standard quick hitch compatible. Ugghh! the frustration.
Did I just see a Camo Ranger?! Deere replaced?
Haha, sure did. I gotta explain that whole saga in a video sometime...I've got another Ranger coming too...it's a long story 😂😂
Yup, Titan "quality" :) and, I bought a ballast box that was supposedly "quick hitch compatible" and the width was right but the bushings were all wrong, couldn't take the adapter and weren't even easy/standard to replaced.
You can make your own lines for that machine
Just my 2 cents worth: Unless you want to cut the grapes, stay clear. Also stay clear of blackberry and raspberry brambles unless you want to cut them down.
Thanks Clark!
Looks like it has the best (worst) QC China has to offer. If you have some time to kill head to your local Harbor Freight and check their hitch plates and attachments. They're a sea of off center poor quality welds with slag not removed before painting. The attention to detail appears to be on par with that piece of equipment
Haha, too funny. Have a good one Noah!
The reason may be because the PTO shaft movement as the implement swings out might have a clearance problem
Shame it’s not hydraulic, and would be better if the shield rotated, just saying ! Oh be good if it was available in Aus with bobcat att plate
Cheers from Aus
Should’ve inserted the trimmer string in approximately 1/2” to 1” not all the way through like shown
Would like to see it on 1025
Yeah, probably will at some point.
i've looked into these but none of the reviews seemed good for the titan or the dr
It will work with Pat's quick hitch
Good call!
Courtney, do you feel like your 3025E is underpowered? It seems like you prefer the 1025R. I’m in the market but it seems like the 3025E is more bang for your buck but am I missing something?
He just did s video comparing three 25 horse tractors. Check it out.
to me titan is a direct competitor to you, we buy attachments from you not cuz its cheat but because we know they will work and are built properly . if all they want is cheap tool, titan will be for them.
Why not a sickle mower
Good to know its not Quick hitch compatible. Ive been looking at these . I know now i dont want a titan .
👍❤️
How’s your new place?
Looks like they want you to "grease" the gearbox, every 100 hrs, interesting, not fill it with oil. Seems sketchy..... Yes, I have several "TA" implements, good and bad, so interested in how this works for you.
Turnbuckle anti sway bars are the worst!!!
Haha, agreed!
That is different.
i will never buy anything from Titan again. I bought a pellet fork frame and it came in bent up and the first time I used it the mounting hooks bent and it fell off the tractor. They are cheaper for a reason a lesson I still have to learn from time to time.
The quick hitch rejection was rather disappointing.
Looks like titan products aren’t on my product list
I'd vote for weed and grass killer spray. Not quick hitch compatible, forget that.
I'm not interested in tractor weedwacker 25k johndeere plus loader plus 3k wacker
Good idea but poor quality control.
Agreed
How to adjust a grease gun collet
th-cam.com/video/Sq9MNUHwUFY/w-d-xo.html
Nope. Won’t be buying that thing.
You can make your own lines for that machine
You just buy it in a roll & trim your own links
