Sorry to add another comment, but how lucky were the fans watching good honest football like that in that era .So much better than what's churned out nowadays . Great times .
yeah when fotbal was proper footy.. ££ just killed the game.. even replays at wembley these days wtf.with or without dreaded VAR dunno whats worst same ol same ol there .. but great to see all these clasic matches again
And from my pov,one obvious( and there's others of course ) factor is the Ball..The one they use now is ridiculous,it canhit a Players shoulder& fly in.And then u silly all of these so called' Wonder goals' when it's due to the Ball beu g way to fkn lightweight..
The music brings back happy memories of the Big Match on Sunday afternoon's. Brian Moore was a brilliant presenter. Not like the chum fest we have on MOTD
The League Cup Final then, was played on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm (It was not shown live in the u.k.) just recorded highlights on the Sunday afternoon, and the Final re-play on the Wednesday evening was NOT shown live in the U.K. just recorded highlights at 10.30 pm.
Wonderful to see the praise for 18-year-old Chris Woods from two goalkeeping legends, Ray Clemence and Peter Shilton, around 41 minutes, and then from Bob Paisley too.
a little sad that despite all his England caps, Woods never quite achieved tremendous success as a goalkeeper. Nigel Spink, who I think ought to have been the best England goalkeeper since Clemence/Shilton, did even less...
When Liverpool and Forest were dominant forces in European football. Liverpool were dominant in domestic football for a decade, but eclipsed by Forest for 18 months or so, picking up domestic title, two european cups, and a couple of domestic cups. Those were the days! English teams won 6 European Cups in a row, 3 for liverpool, 2 for forest, 1 for villa.
So was I! Liverpool supporter but I think we all realised the brilliance of Brian Clough and Peter Taylor producing such a great team that Notts Forest where. Winning two European Cups with that team was just ridiculous!!
Great spot. Thank you for that. You don't get that now as the 1970s were all mostly local fans and it was very parochial and tribal. Liverpool sang 'Liverpool Lou' at the 1974 charity Shield and use to also sing 'In My Liverpool Home' in 1977. Local events would be refected at the match. One of my favourite ever chants was singing 'Tony Cottee -how's the scrapbook going now' when his team lost 6-0 at Anfield. Cottee was on Football fFocus showing off his scrapbook beforehand. All football fans would watch that show - then pile into the grounds. I use know away fans who loved to listen to any witty chants from any opposing fans. We were all in it together.
Went to this and the replay at Old Trafford. Amazing to think I just turned 13 at the time and was already a season ticket holder. Didn't see any of the game but walking down Wembley Way and walking into the stadium itself made you cry. The sound of 100,000 chanting fans was incredible.
Le premier match était très équilibré. Très bonne qualité technique des joueurs et des actions. Où était Birtles ? Le deuxième n'a clairement pas du même niveau.
Huge year for viv Anderson later in the year, when he right ed the wrong of the FA , after picking Leslie of Plymouth and dropping him because of his ethnicity .i was there to watch history with my school at Wembley ,in November 78 that year to watch England win against czechlosvakia .my first international game that it corrected so many wrongs from the past and opened so many that day. In November 78.
To think that after 17 seconds Dalglish should have scored and won the cup for Liverpool and yet in the remaining 215 minutes of the final and Replay not one Liverpool goal

Quite right. The League Final would not be shown live until 1984
@@iainclark5964 From then on it was played on a Sunday ... However the 1981 League Cup Final Replay was shown live.
Actually not right, the Villa Park replay of Liverpool v West Ham was shown live.
@@chloesdad1000 I stand corrected, I remember watching it.
Phil Neal 40 years ago was playing as an inverted full back, amazing.
1970s football was king.

If it wasn't for Nottingham Forest Liverpool, would picked up another League title & European Cup at that time
Larry Lloyd once smiled at me when they played against Sunderland at roker park in the eighties
I was there at Roker Park
A true Clash Of The Titans of that time.
Cloughie telling his side to acknowledge our fans....complete one off!!!
Great footage . Both them teams were fantastic .
*those
O'Neill was surprisingly graceful & skilful considering his management style!
Aka georges graham at the arsenal
I was there. And at Old Trafford for the reply. A penalty decision that changed football. The end of the professional foul.
The start of the professional foul.

@@deeestuarywho the fuck are notts forest i've never heard of them😂😂
@@sidvicious05they share the town with Nottingham county 🤪
Nottingham forest 😉
Dos equipos entonces muy fuertes .
At that moment I was born!
Chris Woods brilliant performance, he only played two matches for Forest this League Cup Final & the replay also wasn't wearing any gloves
Woods played in seven of Forest's eight matches in the League Cup that season.
He was also wearing an Umbro Jersey,as the Adidas Jersey with black collar and cuffs was banned by the Football League.
Gordon Smith DOES score at the end of extra time.....unlike five years later.!!!
Forest fans Singing 'Mist rolling in from the Trent' (MOK) 30:30
Amazing. The MOK single was xmas number one in 1977, and here we are just 3 months later, Forest fans singing their version.

Is that remastered because it looks from 1997

Chris woods 65 years old😮

Very, very true
McDermotts goal .. didn’t look anything wrong with it!!
Should have scored is a bit strong. He should certainly have got a shot on target, but Woods covered the angle really wide and Dalgish fluffed it.
Even Kenny felt the pressure that day. This would have been his first final in England..

UREEDDDSSSS UREEDDDSSSS
27.17 John Robertson I love him but that was a dive
Super football
And only 1 substitute on the bench, just imagine how the PL clubs would cope with that.

Nottingham forest!
Grown men with perms 😐
phil neales poncy hairdo lol
The start of hating Forest
Refereeing decisions, offside goals, handball goal in the replay, first ever penalty given for foul outside the area
Jealous of their success at that time more like😂
Now the officials love Liverpool and man united!
Brian Moore hoping Liverpool would win 🙄
