I use to listen to this all the time. When my dad heard me listening to Homer and Jethro's "Battle of Kookamunga" he told me he had that song on record, then dug out an old portable record player and his Homer and Jethro record.
After I literally wore it out (it was pretty worn when I started listening to it) my dad started digging out his other records that he felt a 12 year old could listen to. One of them was Wendy Bagwell, but I can't remember exactly which record it was. My brother hid it when I wouldn't stop chanting "Wilbur Wingate had a weenie. Someone filled it full of sand. Wilbur Wingate's weenie wound up in the bottom of the can." To this day he still won't tell me where he hid it, but I know it's still somewhere in my parents' house.

Wendy was one of a kind! I wish everyone could have known him on a personal level and know just how genuine and giving he really was. I'll never forget him as long as I live, and will remember stories that he told off-stage 'til I die.
He could get away with saying things that most of us couldn't even think about and still be allowed to stay in the church. Not that they were bad, but Wendy was very concious about whether or not something he said in jest would be taken the wrong way.

I remember when I was 7 years old and my stepdad (my Pop, he raised me) cooked breakfast before school with radio on. This would play at least once before we finished breakfast. He would laugh every morning like it was the first time he ever heard it. My sister and I laughed not once. Not even a giggle came out. Pop laughed every morning like he had never hears it before.

This tape came in handy for a long trip. Thanks for posting this one. Jerry Clower has a story about lunch money. Is there any chance of you posting the one about Leroy "Spiritual Man" Howard?
