    I'd have used this function dozens & dozens of times but finally understood the concept - big credit goes to Superman analogy!
    Thank you so much, boss!

    I really love the way you put it up so systematic and explained about how the function works and why it doesn't work. Thank you so much and please keep posting about Power BI

    Hi Goodly,
    At the timestamp 7:16, Why did you added -1 at the end of the calculate formula. The function SAMEPERIODLASTYEAR() itself results in previous year values right. By dividing the current year and previous year values, we come to know the growth percentage right.
    Kindly clear this doubt. Anyone in the comment section can answer.

    This is the only calculate I can understand the first time! Can you do a few more. If possible, talk about adding sales from different tables, assume each team has thier own sales tables. Putting them in same matrix column.

    Hello,
    I wanna use the calculate function to add filter ..but i wana use more then one filter .
    In the syntax of function you can add more than one filter .. but when i use it
    I usualy get blank card (no value) . I dont know why
    The calculate function work just by one filter, if i try to use more than one, it show me blank value.
    Would you help me ..please

    Chandeep, I am trying to create a simple calculation within PBI. My table has 2 columns - Scheduled Hours and Hours Worked. Each row in the table represents a shift worked by an employee. I want to create Overtime measure, where if Hours Worked > Scheduled Hours then return Hours Worked - Scheduled Hours else return zero. How do I go about doing this while creating a measure?

      For now, I have created using Power Query formula. But wondering if there is a way to create a measure for the same?

  • @theindiandataanalyst
    @theindiandataanalyst ปีที่แล้ว

    The simple definition of the calculate function - it changes row context to filter context.

    How to calculate sumproducts in Power Query or Power BI??

    • @GoodlyChandeep
      @GoodlyChandeep  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      To do a sumproduct, you'd probably write a measure like this
      =SUMX(TableName, Column1 x Column 2)
      Take a look at this video - th-cam.com/video/4AQvu4kuSYc/w-d-xo.html

      As far as I know, 'TY Sales / LY Sales' calculates the percentage change. To determine the growth or decline rate, subtracting 1 is necessary. A positive result indicates a growth rate, while a negative result signifies a decline rate

    I really admire and appreciate how You are able to teach. I am studying the DAX Bible but...well there are many unclear things . I really wish to understand all steps of calculate in depth. Is there any chance You will do a video about that. How CACLULE works, step by step with all detail behind. I think this is the most important part of DAX which is also not explained properly anywhere. DAX Bible provide all steps but still...is unclear. Every time I think finally I had understood it...nope...the code gives uncontrolled results.
