I had a full sized traffic light like yours, unfortunately it fell over as I was moving it to paint, broke all 3 lenses. I had gotten a mechanical switcher that was made by Lionel, for a train layout, it had three output wires, power and neutral, I wired up the lights and used a wink o matic flasher to urn the coil on and off to step the sequencer one notch to the next color. I couldn’t slow down to the correct speed , I got an electronic flash module that allowed me to regulate the speed of the change, they all had the same duration, about 10 seconds using a 25 watt bulb in line with the flasher and sequence stepper. All were 120v . The only downside that all 3 colors had the same duration, it was ok, I didn’t mind it wasn’t exactly how lights really operate. Bought the sequencer for 2$ back in 1980 at an electronic junk shop, I had it until the early 10s, coil eventually burned out and the novelty had long since worn off anyway.
Thank you! You said you hope someone finds this useful. Well, tomorrow I'm picking up a traffic light for my shop and I was looking at this exact same controller on eBay. Then I found your video! Perfect! Thank you, good sir! Very helpful indeed.
2:00 Hey, that yellow light looks like it is different than the others. Is is a different manufacturer? I made mine with a remote control so you can turn it on/off easily. Love these things! Great job.
Would it be safer/OK if I take the ground from my power cord and screw it to the metal housing with the light? I am afraid my kids are going to mess with it and if a wire gets pinched and fails, I want to make sure the don't get shocked.

Yeah I think it is. That's the lights that were in it when I got it
Did I miss where you screw in the power chord
At about 4:50 cord gets put in. Didn't get tightening the screws on video
Where do you get the controller
The controller I used is in the video description. Got it from Ebay

Yes, If it's a metal housing grounding to the metal body would be a good idea. I think it will still need a ground to the controller.
Would the one on amazon 29$ work to do the same?
I don't know🤔. This is the only one I have used.
Why is the yellow made of tiny dotted LEDs and the red and green not?
different style/brand replaced at some point.
Dakota Ng they are
Do you work for traffic light companies?
No . I got the light from a friend for helping him with his project.
TSR Garage you could sell some of your traffic lights to traffic companies, you could make money from it
