A lot of TV shows are poor compared to TH-cam etc...look at Storage Wars the show was entertaining but compared to the real buyers who buy lockers sell the things they find and post on TH-cam the show is just terrible...
One of my favorite parts of the show was 'Social Hour with Vernon'. Next season, if you continue to do this along side your operation, you should team up with him for some of those. It was so funny to see him go off on rude social media questions after a drink or two.
I had an Uncle build his own houseboat, and he literally fabricated EVERYTHING structural in that beast. I remember watching him, the 'Adults' talking about things, and one thing that always stuck with me is, he KNEW BETTER than to build the pontoons as a single cavity. ONE hole/breach, and the entire apparatus is compromised, and the danger of flipping/sinking guaranteed unless you're damned lucky. I love how you're incorporating this strategy, AND using portions for extra storage/ballast! Outstanding! Wish I were a few decades younger, when I was still in good shape (USMC Veteran here). I've watched BSG since it began, and you folks are my special blend of ambitious, driven, and crazy! Well done!!! :-)

My favorite show on tv is Bering sea gold. I love it. Can’t wait for new ones. Hopefully Vern has years left and u too. But the Kelly’s are the show. Watching them screw up year after year is so fun to watch. Good Luck to you

Thumbs UP, because the algorithm is stupid! Sad to see "I lost my job".. but like I was saying on the July "getaway", there was a writer's strike on much of the Summer, which could explain production hiatus. Whatever ends up happening, you'll come out on top!
All unscripted tv is non-union, so it wasn't the strike! It was just a business decision to take a summer and ice season off. Expect to see it back on the air. Thanks Steve!

And, I just learned yesterday, there was some corporate merger/acquisition/shellGame stuff happening between "22 and "23. Also, Vernon recently commented somewhere that all the non-human Original Productions assets remain in Nome.. and also, if the show wasn't consistently profitable, one of the first signs (for me) that OP was ramping it down, would be them deciding to find a less costly narrator voice than Mike Rowe. Botto. line is that I know nothing, but I'm grasping at every hint or clue I can find to hold onto belief that there will be more BSG made in the future. Until then, I have more thoughts I'll send in SMS..

Honestly, you're the main reason I watch BSG anyway, so being able to watch just you and your amazing crew for 10 minutes or so solid is fantastic. Love it! I am a commercial law attorney who specializes in contact law, and generally, a non-compete clause doesn't apply to actors who are protected by SAG law So if you've read 500 contracts which makes zero sense why you would or where you found 500 non-compete contracts because they generally only apply to corporations where sales are involved or general contracts in isolated locations...I can guarantee none of them applied to Sag protected actors there is no such thing as a non-compete clause in a residual earnings contract which all syndicated television actors sign... 😂

Epic, brilliant & very informative let alone entertaining. Even tho we meet on your gold rush get away and spent a week with you in Nome and toured the Eroica this video was still amazing to understand the work that has gone into the pontoons and to see the work you all put in is outstanding. Can’t wait for the next episode and the next chapter of your adventures in Nome.

Looks like good quality fab work. From the leaks I saw there appeared to be galvanic corrosion which is the weak link about aluminum in salt water an (electrolyte). Make sure your electrical is properly isolated from the hull, don’t use household electrical components since they crossover the white / neutral wire and be sure to use the right anodes instal a galvanic isolator, never put bronze or brass on aluminum, isolate connections to steel even stainless. Once again good call on the oversized pontoons and good fab work.

thanks for the great videos! its really cool to watch how everyone acts without focusing on interpersonal drama like the docuseries did so much of. hell it even gives you time to go into detail on things that would just be swept over on the series.
Wow its been year since i saw BSG. They never put you in a good light, didnt care for the drama the show lived on. Im proud of you!! You are such a respectable driving force still after all these years and such a mature beauty!!
If you hadn't already known, the show was %100 staged. They created problems to create drama. She was more of an "actor", than anything else...Ironically, it was the real legal issues that %100 got the show canceled...(Claim jumping was most assuredly the biggest real ongoing issue)...
I watched the show for 4-5 years but lost track of it. I'm glad to have stumbled upon your new YT channel/show. I recently visited Lead, S.D. I didnt get to visit the Homestake mine but the being around so many gold mines made me think of BSG. I even had a portable sluice in my Amazon cart but haven't pulled the trigger. One day I'll be hiking mountain creeks giving it a whirl. Until then I'll enjoy watching the pros in Nome! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

ive watched this show from episode one i remember when emily was just a tender for zeek and remember her diving and getting her arm sucked in the dredge pipe it scared her to death and thats when she realised she needed to be captain its great to see how far she has come from the early days upto now im a big fan of emilys shes amazing

I think there is better opportunity to grow this channel as a spin off of the show. Especially if there taking season off on shooting. That could potentially give your channel viewers that is missing the show. Focus on quality of your channel and editing and you could easily take off or grow quickly. I just started watching because was recommended just now and im subscribed now. I think a proper spinoff done from the actual goldminers perspective and views can be more better than producers trying to control narrative and create unnecessary drama. You can do this! 💪💯
I repaired Lincoln Welders at Norfolk Naval Shipyard many years ago. I rewound the generator part. The diesel engines were repaired if needed by the engine shop. These welders were really old because I was working from 1974 to '79 before transfering to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. I repaired a couple when working for the Washington State Ferry system at Eagle Harbor,Bainbridge Is. They are great welders as well as a back up generator with inverters for AC.

Emily, if the pontoons had bilge keels on the outside, 4 inches above? (depending on the draft) the last bend, it will provide much needed roll control, and can be added anytime before it's launched!!

So, I’m late to the party. Just started watching Bering Sea Gold Season 18 and I noticed you weren’t there. Why are all of the other miners there and not you? If they skipped the summer season, didn’t everyone lose their jobs? They obviously got theirs back, why not you? You and Vernon were my favorites!
its a shame to hear about Bering Sea Gold, but i really look forward to seeing what you and the crew will be showing. Already this whole boat repair/upgrade is really intresting and getting to see some in depth details about its construction is super cool.
Commenting because this popped up on my recommended and I actually know why. I've been building a character for a Fallout based TTRPG and had my character spend a lot of time in Nome and Anchorage. This was all just for backstory stuff, he was a wandering robot and I just so happened to have him spend time in those places more than others. As such, I did a little bit of research about the areas and I think that ticked something into recommending this channel. Which, I just so happen to like this kind of content, think I watched shows on TV that had very similar premises(Making a living off the coast of Alaska looking for gold), real interesting stuff! Like the content so far :) GL to y'all endeavors.

I saw a two part liquid expanding foam used once and might be worth looking into for the pontoons. They cannot sink. If the weight distribution on your dredge was equal, you could literally cut it in half and it would float. Just a thought.

we're using one sheet of aluminum to make things easier and we don't have to weld...six foot sections later...we gotta do some welding after all. I was thinking one sheet for one pontoon...my bad.
You should check out the 36 inch pontoons made by Nautilus Pontoons. They are Super heavy duty and unsinkable. They are like 3/8’s thick plastic with foam mold injection. They have different sizes 17”,26”,36” and I believe 48”. They come in 48 inch long sections that lock together and you build a platform on top. They are designed to use 2x6 inch wide aluminum tubing for the frame. I’m getting ready to build a 12x36 foot unsinkable house boat. One 48” section will float 850lbs at 50% submersion. This means my 36 foot houseboat will carry 15,300lbs and only sink 50% of the pontoon. If you damage one section it can be drained and plastic welded or you just order a new section for like $500 bucks. Having a unsinkable boat is a huge piece of mind. You can add more sections in the middle to increase your cargo capacity or order larger diameter pontoons. They are great around ice. As the water freezes it just pushes the boat up on top of the ice. You can bolt the 2x6 tubing together with aluminum angles or weld the frame together. I’m going to bolt mine together to allow it to flex. You can use 4x8 foot aluminum Diamond plate for decking or treated plywood. These pontoons are used my the military to build portable bridges and unsinkable boats. They are reasonable to buy. I need 18 sections At around $500 each. That’s $9,000 for a unsinkable hull, plus a few thousand dollars in tubing. Decking will depend on you. Aluminum is a one time buy, but plywood is easier to work with if you plan to build a cabin on it. Nautilus Pontoons has to be much cheaper than what you are building. Plus you can still sink. A Nautilus Pontoon built boat will get you home every day. The biggest fear with any boat is sinking. Imagine never having to worry about sinking again?? That’s Priceless 🇺🇸🦅

Personally I find the Kelley's a bit much. Maybe it is because they always seem to be arguing but I, personally, am over them.
@@barbarachambers7974What really made me mad about the Kellys is their mining Shawn’s claim as if they have the right to do so! Saying, he doesn’t own the whole ocean! Not until they started claim jumping had they been mining considerable amounts. They pissed off Shawn considerably too!

My favorite show on tv is Bering sea gold. I love it. Can’t wait for new ones. Hopefully Vern has years left and u too. But the Kelly’s are the show. Watching them screw up year after year is so fun to watch. Good

Sad to see "I lost my job".. but like I was saying on the July "getaway", there was a writer's strike on much of the Summer, which could explain production hiatus. Whatever ends up happening, you'll come out on top!
All unscripted tv is non-union, so it wasn't the strike! It was just a business decision to take a summer and ice season off. Expect to see it back on the air. Thanks Steve!

And, I just learned yesterday, there was some corporate merger/acquisition/shellGame stuff happening between "22 and "23. Also, Vernon recently commented somewhere that all the non-human Original Productions assets remain in Nome.. and also, if the show wasn't consistently profitable, one of the first signs (for me) that OP was ramping it down, would be them deciding to find a less costly narrator voice than Mike Rowe.
Botto. line is that I know nothing, but I'm grasping at every hint or clue I can find to hold onto belief that there will be more BSG made in the future.
Until then, I have more thoughts I'll send in SMS..

Even if they did, non-competes have been struck down all over the place due to the difference in power/burden between parties.
If they're stopping filming, then there's no show to compete with.

I am a commercial law attorney who specializes in contact law, and generally, a non-compete clause doesn't apply to actors who are protected by SAG law So if you've read 500 contracts which makes zero sense why you would or where you found 500 non-compete contracts because they generally only apply to corporations where sales are involved or general contracts in isolated locations...I can guarantee none of them applied to Sag protected actors there is no such thing as a non-compete clause in a residual earnings contract which all syndicated television actors sign... 😂

Looks like good quality fab work. From the leaks I saw there appeared to be galvanic corrosion which is the weak link about aluminum in salt water an (electrolyte). Make sure your electrical is properly isolated from the hull, don’t use household electrical components since they crossover the white / neutral wire and be sure to use the right anodes instal a galvanic isolator, never put bronze or brass on aluminum, isolate connections to steel even stainless. Once again good call on the oversized pontoons and good fab work.

If you hadn't already known, the show was %100 staged. They created problems to create drama. She was more of an "actor", than anything else...Ironically, it was the real legal issues that %100 got the show canceled...(Claim jumping was most assuredly the biggest real ongoing issue)...

I watched the show for 4-5 years but lost track of it. I'm glad to have stumbled upon your new YT channel/show. I recently visited Lead, S.D. I didnt get to visit the Homestake mine but the being around so many gold mines made me think of BSG. I even had a portable sluice in my Amazon cart but haven't pulled the trigger. One day I'll be hiking mountain creeks giving it a whirl. Until then I'll enjoy watching the pros in Nome! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.

I think there is better opportunity to grow this channel as a spin off of the show. Especially if there taking season off on shooting. That could potentially give your channel viewers that is missing the show. Focus on quality of your channel and editing and you could easily take off or grow quickly. I just started watching because was recommended just now and im subscribed now. I think a proper spinoff done from the actual goldminers perspective and views can be more better than producers trying to control narrative and create unnecessary drama. You can do this! 💪💯
I repaired Lincoln Welders at Norfolk Naval Shipyard many years ago. I rewound the generator part. The diesel engines were repaired if needed by the engine shop. These welders were really old because I was working from 1974 to '79 before transfering to Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. I repaired a couple when working for the Washington State Ferry system at Eagle Harbor,Bainbridge Is. They are great welders as well as a back up generator with inverters for AC.

Emily, if the pontoons had bilge keels on the outside, 4 inches above? (depending on the draft) the last bend, it will provide much needed roll control, and can be added anytime before it's launched!!

Commenting because this popped up on my recommended and I actually know why. I've been building a character for a Fallout based TTRPG and had my character spend a lot of time in Nome and Anchorage. This was all just for backstory stuff, he was a wandering robot and I just so happened to have him spend time in those places more than others. As such, I did a little bit of research about the areas and I think that ticked something into recommending this channel. Which, I just so happen to like this kind of content, think I watched shows on TV that had very similar premises(Making a living off the coast of Alaska looking for gold), real interesting stuff! Like the content so far :) GL to y'all endeavors.
Hopefully you keep recording the rebuild and refit... looking forward to watching it.

I saw a two part liquid expanding foam used once and might be worth looking into for the pontoons. They cannot sink. If the weight distribution on your dredge was equal, you could literally cut it in half and it would float. Just a thought.

we're using one sheet of aluminum to make things easier and we don't have to weld...six foot sections later...we gotta do some welding after all. I was thinking one sheet for one pontoon...my bad.

You should check out the 36 inch pontoons made by Nautilus Pontoons. They are Super heavy duty and unsinkable. They are like 3/8’s thick plastic with foam mold injection. They have different sizes 17”,26”,36” and I believe 48”. They come in 48 inch long sections that lock together and you build a platform on top. They are designed to use 2x6 inch wide aluminum tubing for the frame. I’m getting ready to build a 12x36 foot unsinkable house boat. One 48” section will float 850lbs at 50% submersion. This means my 36 foot houseboat will carry 15,300lbs and only sink 50% of the pontoon. If you damage one section it can be drained and plastic welded or you just order a new section for like $500 bucks. Having a unsinkable boat is a huge piece of mind. You can add more sections in the middle to increase your cargo capacity or order larger diameter pontoons. They are great around ice. As the water freezes it just pushes the boat up on top of the ice. You can bolt the 2x6 tubing together with aluminum angles or weld the frame together. I’m going to bolt mine together to allow it to flex. You can use 4x8 foot aluminum Diamond plate for decking or treated plywood. These pontoons are used my the military to build portable bridges and unsinkable boats. They are reasonable to buy. I need 18 sections At around $500 each. That’s $9,000 for a unsinkable hull, plus a few thousand dollars in tubing. Decking will depend on you. Aluminum is a one time buy, but plywood is easier to work with if you plan to build a cabin on it. Nautilus Pontoons has to be much cheaper than what you are building. Plus you can still sink. A Nautilus Pontoon built boat will get you home every day. The biggest fear with any boat is sinking. Imagine never having to worry about sinking again?? That’s Priceless 🇺🇸🦅
