Seems they put a relatively low final drive in these. Under 3.35 atleast

      3.09 Rear axle, gearbox ratios are also quite tall. 1st - 4.97, 2nd - 2.84, 3rd - 1.86. Also running on 21" wheels doesn't help.
      Compared to the ZF8 in my car - final drive 3.07, 1st - 4.10, 2nd - 2.31, 3rd - 1.54. Running 18" Wheels.
My car has same (when it was stock) 0-100 despite being 90kw less powerful, also 500kg lighter also helps haha.

      @@blake301987 Depends on the application
If it's the torque converter 1st gen ZF 8HP
      Then it's
      1st: 4.71
      2nd: 3.14
      3rd: 2.10
      4th: 1.66
Or if it's the 2nd gen DSG 8sp ZF
      1st: 5.00
      2nd: 3.20
      3rd: 2.14
      4th: 1.72
Final drive varies on manufacturer. Personally i approve of FCA's choice of 3.45 (Diesel V6) & 3.70 (Trackhawk/SRT8) Jeep Grand Cherokee ^
      Anything 2.9 something
      2.7 something, etc
Feels more like a 5sp auto with 3 useless gears

@@ThomasFG You're looking at the ZF 8HP70 base specs. BMW and Audi/VW have custom ratios (probably others too). The ratios I quoted are from Porsche and the ratios I quoted for my cars 8HP45 are from BMW.
Final drive is a fairly meaningless number unless you also include gearbox ratios, and tyre rolling radius.

I think there is something to do with the transmission. The macan turbo which is only around 50KG lighter does 4.2 from 0-100, it has a proper Porsche PDK rather than the relatively slower ZF 8AT on Cayenne. That PDK on macan also allows more aggressive launch control at almost 5000 rpm.

    • @bbb12345
      @bbb12345 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

Michael Zuo didn’t know the Cayenne doesn’t use the PDK. Porsche has to rethink it!

Bruno Dias right? they should make it an option. the 8 speed ZF isn’t very great - quite jerky.

@@michaelzuo1417 Even the Turbo GT uses the regular slushbox which i find very funny. They’ve basically used this transmisson in the Cayenne since 2011 but with several updates and variations. But i have a 2014 Cayenne S Diesel and thought that the gearbox was a bit sluggish and i did a gearbox remap and it helped alot. Almost like a DCT now.

    • @csp1977

Lol, no comparison what so ever.. The Jeep Grand Cherokee regular and Trackhawk version is built at the Jefferson Plant in Detroit Michigan. Working for an OEM company I’ve been there and the work is sub par. Remember seeing “Leroy” sleeping down in the pit where he should have been quality checking components on the underside as the vehicles pass overhead.
