@@witchflowers6942 well he didnt have much sucsess with the film Absolute beginers a few yrs after this and it was unIrversaly panned so i suppose he got his karma lol i hate him tbh as you say a pretentious know it all that actualy knows bugger all! LOL
Marc Almond knows what he is talking about even though he and Sioux used to hang out he respects the complete product and like he says what band is still doing , searching after teir 6th 7th album .
Julian Temple did direct a lot of quite decent videos - but not this one, obviously. As for his contemptible comments about Siouxsie, this is the story behind (as I heard it back in the early 80ies): Julian really wanted to work with Siouxsie and the Banshees, but they told him to F off (in so many words) Instead, it was Tim Pope, who directed the video. Tim Pope was a good friend of Robert Smith (who himself is in the video and was a member of the Banshees at the time) Tim Pope had previously directed videos for the Cure (and has, to this day, directed 37 Cure videos) I think the video is just fine (shot in Venice, Italy, without the necessary permits - very Punk-Rock 🙂) And the song? Well, how do you improve a Beatles tune? I give you Siouxsie and the Banshees with Dear Prudence.
I love Marc for his acid tongue and smart witty attitude your need that in this industry been a fan for yrs yes Marc will say what he wants to I don't think Marc is jealous at all. As for this Julian who is this guy.
Marcs a massive Siouxsie fan he loves her stuff so do I'm a Marc fan sorry guys I do love Siouxsie though totally she's one of my favourite females singers to she's smart clever articulate to xx
Marc Almond is such a nice bloke. So nice in fact when Temple asks him such twatish questions he gives good honest answers, and Temple has no idea how to answer. Marcs gone right up in my estimations.
dear prudence remade by siouxsie & the banshees was undoubtedly great, as well as the original beatles' version is, and despite the differences between the two. 1- it was great because of the way they re-thought the song and 2- it was great because the video was filmed in my beautiful, unique venice ;)
Its one of my Fave tracks from the 80s ..i wasn't realy a siouxsie and the banshees fan apart from this and the track right now ! but hey i was a teenager and more into pop / dance records at the time but i have come to apreciate a lot of bands / tracks now im in my 50s that i didnt realy listen to back then!
1:55 “why am I asked to talk about this rubbish” Very charming Julien Temple, wow that was very subtle And it’s not rubbish, it’s brilliant and I suppose you know about songwriting and singing yeah right you do And I suppose Julien could do better, no I don’t think so.
MrGreenfinger67 He had something to do with directing a couple of movies about the Sex Pistols back in the day. Until I just stumbled upon your vid here I hadn’t heard anything more about him. Siouxsie Sioux brought me to your channel - interesting to see UFO (Ovni) vids in here too. Nice work. I’ve subscribed. Thank you. 👍
Temple did some of the most amazing film work of capturing punk in it's early days and its prime. He documented The Great Rock And Roll Swindle and worked with every artist you can think of at some time in that era. I think he was a bit pompous but he was saying "we have been there done that do something original and more artistic like they usually did". The other two on the panel also pointed out they preffered the B side. Everyone's entitled to their opinion good or bad it's personal choice. Not everyone gets what the banshees does. I really like the Banshees but I don't like everything they have done. I like Temples work but I hated his movie Absolute Beginners starring David Bowie it was awful. I think Marc took it personal because he did a cover also of the 1960's Northern Soul song Tainted Love written by the wife of Marc Bolan (T Rex) Gloria Jones.
Pretty sure Marc took it personal because he's been friends with Siouxsie for years, so of course he's gonna stick up for her. And he did a mighty fine job of it too. Right on Marc.
Who is that nobody to talk about Siouxsie in such a way? The Banshees have owned every cover they've done and made it something completely their own.
The horribly pretentious Julien Temple. He didn’t have a single positive comment in the entire program.

has Julian Temple ever cracked a smile in his life?
Thats putting it mildly! Thank god for Mark Almond love him
Marc is fucking great ! what a lively boy ! saying such nice (and true !) things about sioux & band !

It sounds like he was on his period at the time of this interview. What a crab.
Marc and Siouxsie are friends. Of course he's gonna stick up for her. And I agree with the blonde girl. Tattoo is a great track.
Planet in my kitchen is ace
Marc describing the Banshees as enigmatic is perfect.
I love Marc for his acid tongue and smart witty attitude your need that in this industry been a fan for yrs yes Marc will say what he wants to I don't think Marc is jealous at all.
As for this Julian who is this guy.
I saw temple in line at the soup kitchen last week
yes Marc:)
Marc really stuck up for the banshees! You can even tell he was getting flustered in his passionate statements.
Well said Marcy baby !!
Andrew Saunders Ditto Andrew xx

Marc is just so nice, love him
I love siouxsies arm pit hair ...
Mr Temple regurgitated his own words, for sure. Who remebers mr Temple?!??!!

Geez- Siouxsie's Dear Prudence is tied with Laibach's Across The Universe as my 2 favorite covers. He probably hates that one too.
Marc Almond is shit cool.
Whereas Julian Temple is just shit.
Many thanks for posting this!
temple who? never heard of him
Did Julian actually say “who remembers them?”, referring to the Beatles?
Yes he did.More like who remembers him.
That'll be Julian 'Absolute Beginners' Temple critiquing the abysmal state of pop video production in the early 1980s then
marc is cool as fuck
“PrOMoSeXuaL” oh pish off julien. you directed The Meaning of Love video.
If it's who I think it is, I've just lost a amount of respect for Mr. Julian Temple. Other than that, spot-on, Marc.
yep
And who is he?
I love the cover of Dear Prudence, it's wonderful but I don't think it's one of their best videos
no but i adore siouxsie’s outfit in it.
Siouxsie’s version is much better
Never mind the video, Julian WTF are you wearing?
I don't know, i'm sorry
