Im a 5'5 240 lbs, should I just start running or walking and build up to running for cardio. Thanks!

Hey, Clay. I know you asked Lauren here, but I'm going to chime in as someone who's dealt with weight issues over the years. For anyone who's beyond say, 20% over their target weight, running should be a non-starter. The impact of running on joints, muscles, tendons, connective tissue, the whole kit-and-kaboodle makes it absolutely the worst cardio activity. (I'd prefer to see someone doing a workout of uphill sprinting.) As someone with a 45+ year relationship with fitness, my #1 suggestion for anyone for cardio is time on a Concept 2 rower. (erg)

Aloha...I thought I'd chime in...after my motorcycle accident, i broke my leg, hip, and hand. I gained much weight in my recovery and I was about your size..i'm 5'6". The first things I was able to do was use the Erg (like the concept2 Rower) and get in the pool to simply walk before I actually learned to swim. Simply starting to walk more (I try to get my daily steps in) does wonders too...Hiking makes things interesting, listening to books whilst walking, or simply walking to places under 1 mile has helped me on way back to health. It was a long journey before I was able to get into a form where I could actually train hard and about a year before I touched a barbell. Exercise is one the best things you can do for your heart; eating better is the best thing you can do for your health. Mat Fraser , fittest on earth "You can't outwork a bad diet" I hope you have a blessed journey and you get to where you want to be with your training.

For me it's always informative and INSPIRATIONAL watching my favourite elite CrossFit athletes vlogs. There's always something to LEARN from them to improve on my own fitness lifestyle. From mobility to fitness tips, eating habits, daily obstacles to their thoughts when they on the competition floor. So be creative and looking forward to some cool content and good luck with the channel!!! =)
