For anyone who couldn't get what he was doing at 1:11, all he did was *drop down the layer with the dropdown arrow* so you can see all the strokes and elements within it, you can do the tutorial without dropping it down, as long as you click the circle on the right to select everything. Good luck!
Dude this saved me so much time. I just got a surface laptop studio and I love it so far made some finger gestures for illustrator and now this. Basically got procreate but vectoring haha finally. The studio is dope.
Unfortunately your face hides the action you're doing on the layers. Kind of a bummer considering there's something there that we need to understand to initiate the symmetry. A person can figure it out, it just takes work to see better.

When you have finished the illustration how do you keep the it intact . As soon as I remove or hide the reflect line my illustration cuts in two and is useless
This worked like a charm, but I am having trouble finalizing the artwork. I would usually use something like 'Expand Appearance', but that option is grayed out. The 'Expand' option is still there, but it only flattens the line work that I actually drew, not the shapes that were reflected. Any advice?
I cant remember exactly how I did it, but once you have the mirror you could just remove the effect, then duplicate the artwork? I'm sure theres a better way but I'm not at my desk to try it.
placing the webcam RIGHT IN THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE LAYOUT was such a stupid idea...how could you not realize while editing the video? Not to hate...i like this channel and it has been helpful multiple times but this time was so frustrating...

This is greatly nicely done, but your face is blocking an important section. Would be even better if you leave this parts of your tuts showing only the program's interface IMO.

How do you change the distance between the two objects? If I draw from the middle line they end up intersecting instead of mirroring off of the line.
How do you join the two halves of your mirrored drawing together? I'm using illustrator for ipad pro - it seems to be impossible!

I had the same issue. If you unhide the original line you drew and select it, you can Object/expand appearance on that.

For me the stroke only goes on the reflected side. The lines on the side im drawing on are just blue, what am i doing wrong?
where you select which axis to mirror in the transform effects you have to change the copies at the bottom from 0 to 1
