    The questionnaire thing is also a legal precaution. They can produce the document to a court if necessary to show what information you gave them. _This does not work if they just make assumptions about your answers._ For _legal_ reasons, even dumb questions have to be answered, or they become potentially liable, so assumptions should never be allowed on principle.

      It also has a lot of medical applications or concerns even beyond simple pregnancy. Large numbers of medications can interact with different hormone concentrations that a pregnant woman has vs a non-pregnant one. Medications might not work, require different concentrations, work at a more extreme, be more likely to have side effects. Might as well bitch about forms asking if your family has a history of cancer. Doctors want that information to make sure they dont kill you.

      Greetings from Scotland. I can confirm that the blood donation question is from a standard form. The guy must have been asked before. If a nurse was filling it in for him they wouldn't even have asked, just ticked no and moved on. Worth noting that men who have sex with men cannot give blood until 3 months after their last sexual activity... I wonder how he felt about that question?!

      "They go to secular colleges where they're totally brainwashed." Or, to rephrase it, they go to secular colleges where, for the first time in their lives they are exposed to worldview other than the one that has been forced upon them for the last 18 years. They, for the first time in their lives come to discover that not everybody thinks exactly the same as they do, not everybody believes the Christian narrative that they have been indoctrinated with for so many years and are allowed to actually think about what it is that they believe. Large numbers of them conclude that they have been brainwashed from birth and come to the realisation that what was forced on them for so long may not actually be correct.

      Because becoming pregnant is generally something that a woman can do unless something in her anatomy has broken down either before birth or after it. In your case, you probably developed cancer at some point in your life that necessitated the removal of your uterus, correct? It’s not unreasonable to ask women whether they are currently pregnant even if those women have had illnesses that have rendered them unable to become pregnant. It is unreasonable to ask a man that question as men can never become pregnant. Of course, what people are trying to do is change the definition of the words man and woman to mean something other than an adult human male and an adult human female but that’s a different story.

    • @mugikuyu9403
      @mugikuyu9403 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fredleysmom Why would it affect her world view? She’s a woman and women are always the people who are capable of being pregnant regardless of whether or not they have physical detriments that mean they can’t be pregnant. Men are not capable of pregnancy whether in principle or in fact.

    • @bellarosethorne
      @bellarosethorne 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @@mugikuyu9403 question doesn't care what's in your pants, it just wants to know you aren't currently pregnant. In addition to preventing harm if you *were* pregnant, it just allows them to know what would be considered abnormalities.
      Now, even without getting into the trans side of the discussion.. not all women were born with a uterus. They were assigned female at birth, they were raised a woman, they never had a uterus. You'd be hard pressed to say they're not still women though. Perhaps.. the genitals aren't intrinsically linked to womanhood after all? But such a woman, would never have been able to be pregnant, the question of whether they are pregnant though, is still relevant.
      Good luck providing your definitions for what a female is though. Can guarantee the harder you try to define it, the more those you consider women would be excluded by it. Might even be easier for you to acknowledge not all women are female.

    Questions regarding pregnancy appear on most medical waivers. There is no point making a separate set for men and women just so transphobes don't get offended. Also men had to answer the same question before getting their covid booster shots here in Hungary, a country that sadly doesn't legally recognize transgender any more. So maybe that's not the implication of that question?! It's simply a matter of having a complete, procedurally valid waiver. (Bodie was acting like an ass with his "N/A" answer anyway. It's not like "Are you pregnant?" is a "Have you stopped beating your wife yet?" type of trick question. Also I think he is old enough to have seen Junior...)

I am FtM and she is very supportive. She told her that it is off putting that the church is driving people away instead of welcoming them.
    The woman she spoke with said she is hearing that a lot recently and has a trans daughter. It is very confusing for a lot of members right now, and is driving them from the church in large numbers.

      I'm not sure why it confusing them. Did they actually think it woudl be any other way? Do they actually know anything about the Church?
      I can imagine it is bothering them, because they HOPED it wouldn't be this way, but now that it affects them, they are discovering what it's really about.
      "She told her that it is off putting that the church is driving people away instead of welcoming them."
      This isn't new. The church is happy to welcome those it deems acceptable, and happy to pretend to accept those who are sufficiently hidden about themselves, but when it comes to coming out? Since when has that been welcomed?

      I don't think that's really true, though. I noticed a progression of claims from the study to the article to AIG. It's like the telephone game in a way.
    The research paper on synonymous mutations was titled:
    Synonymous mutations in representative yeast genes are mostly strongly non-neutral
    The Science Daily article added "are harmful":
    Most 'silent' genetic mutations are harmful, not neutral -- a finding with broad implications
    The research paper has a qualifier in the abstract:
    The strong non-neutrality of most synonymous mutations, if it holds true for other genes and in other organisms, would require re-examination of numerous biological conclusions about mutation, selection, effective population size, divergence time and disease mechanisms that rely on the assumption that synoymous mutations are neutral.
    The Science Daily article instead of the qualifier quoted the research team stating:
    The U-M-led team said that while there is no particular reason why their results would be restricted to yeast, confirmations in diverse organisms are required to verify the generality of their findings.
    Neither the Science Daily article or the study claim they have shown evolution can't be true; AIG adds that.

There would still be beneficial mutations to be selected for. Also, many people can't seem to grasp that whether a mutation is harmful or beneficial can be a function of the environment, rather than something intrinsic. The sickle cell gene is beneficial to individuals in a malaria ridden environment in its heterozygous presentation. In its homozygous presentation it is always harmful to the individual, but the population as a whole benefits from its existence, in those environments.

      @@donnievance1942 I agree. The only thing this discovery, if true, strikes at is how synonymous mutations are viewed.

      I didn't even know the Other Paul and Morgan were still going so I went and checked; they seem to have mellowed a bit in their views, thankfully. Still not my bag though.
