Mix a small amount of dish soap and water in a bucket, and mix it until it becomes sudsy. Soak a cloth in the sudsy water and apply it gently to the stain. Use the sudsy cloth to blot the stain until it disappears. It is important for the velvet fabric to dry quickly.
Use a damp cloth. When dry, brush it gently. You can also try using a few drops of dish washing liquid in a cup of tepid water, again, brushing the velvet once dry. Good luck! :)
