Honestly in the beginning I thought the horn was stuck on
Me as well
Same here lol what was up with that.
The stuck horn at the beginning probably has something to do with the interlaced PTC/Horn system. At half a mile out from a registered crossing, PTC will start sounding the horn(one continuous blast) until another blast is triggered manually. It's possible that the software wasn't recognizing the actuation by the engineer, or he just didnt bother to hit the horn after the auto activation. Weird stuff.
@phillyslasher That's great lol.
That’s only for the newer leaders, Cabcars and older ones don’t have that feature initiated yet if I remember correctly.
Or it could be the guy who got complaints in Encinitas 😂😅
World record attempt for longest continuous train horn.
The Genesis will probably be sold to a new home with another operator
You should listen to Indian Railways. Trains in India.
@@samuelitooooo I get why they have to blow their horn so long. Very interesting, thank you!
Yeah
Metra: Can we take your F59s?
Amtrak: Sure!
Metra: Are the P42s for sale?
Amtrak: Nope
Metra: Well I’m taking it anyways
Amtrak: your slow Metra we are making avelia liberty
That’s likely going to happen. I could also see Metra receiving used freight locomotives from BNSF and Union Pacific.
@@Mrcharles. wait a minute Union Pacific used to be a passenger company I think it still is today I'm not really sure anymore
Metra won’t be taking genesis as they are expensive to repair with limited parts
Well at least the cabcars are still nice to listen to
@Wolf Nigga I agree
Yeah me to
At least the Surfliner cab car isn't 🚦going anywhere
3:10 whoa that looks really shaky
Those Chargers and those square tag K5LAs.
Im surprised there are still so many P42 (the former Genesis engines) still on the property. Its like the F59PHI are all in Chicago but the Genesis engines are still hard at work in California. Big surprise.
It is probably just because they are still a little gun-shy to let some of the Chargers run solo. This is due to them having some technical issues.
Hannah Miyamoto P42’s are still being used on the 3 California corridor routes. Most are now on long distance services since that’s what they’re designed for, but soon they will be replaced by Chargers designed to run long distances like the P42’s.
@@AmtrakandAWVRFan would I be correct in saying that the Chargers which will replace the P42s in a few years' time will be different to the new Surfliner Chargers?
Thomas Palmer Yes. They’re gonna be designed to be hauled long distances. I believe the exterior design is to be the same unless they make any changes. The paint job is also to be different since all the chargers are painted to their dedicated routes.
@@AmtrakandAWVRFan ok. So does that mean that the long-distance Chargers will have a different paint scheme to those that will be used on regional routes in the future?
3:32
Capital Corridor : wheres one of our cars
Amtrak surfliner: (whistles)
Gamerboy71 for the Amtrak California you could have also called it Capitol Corridor as well. Just a suggestion.
JediX43 well San Joaquins also works.
Yea ik
They repainted that one in 2016, but it's still a Surfliner car
2:30 Cab Car Dance Beat
I wish you can upload a video of long amtrak pacific surfliner 2013 - 2019
Where is the F59-PH?
I really like that locomotive.
Sc-44 Charger
They sold them to Metra
It’s nice, but it’s not the same without the F59PHIs
But they got a new life on Metra commuter trains
@@nolantherailfan5048 yeah but Metra is kinda ugly tho.
Sadly, I really like the chargers but I’m also gonna really miss the F59PHI’s
1:07 oh boy 😧 that torpedo rail seem a bit out of shape!
Dr14t what’s that used for anyway?
phillyslasher oh ok
3:12 is someone recording in the cab of the locomotive
No, Chargers have inward facing video cameras.
Oh ok
Yay trains again:D
At least we still have f40s, sdcc and p42s
What’s SDCC? And the F40 is an NPCU.
@@davidng2336 the train in the thumbnail
@@davidng2336 sorry couldn't remember the name
Is the "SDCC" you're talking about the Siemens Charger or SC-44?
@@anhkietduongdo unfortunately yes
I have lived in Southern Cali for 32 years and have never taken this beautiful train ride...its on and poppin this weekend . I cant wait 🤙
Hello, is it OK to feature your clip in a my chanel for educational purposes (so-called temporary copyright.)? You can stop me from using your content at any time and it will be deleted immediately.
It will be credited in the description & comments section with your name. Thanks, MM
When I heard that this was partially filmed in 2018 i was kinda hopin it would have an F59PHI I love F59PHIs my profile pic is of 450 and I had the pleasure of seeing both the Amtrak Surfliner and Metrolink F59PHIs in their final days.
I have also seen Coaster F59PHIs
I believe this surfline corridor is a modern rail corridor being ruled by chargers and F125's
I forgot to mention, I loved it all but I really enjoyed it at 5:22 Thumbs Up :)
Thanks, Ed!
Are all F59phi’s gone?
All F59’s that ran surfliner & Cascade service are gone, yes.
But they run for Metra
spencerhughes2255 I’m sad their gone from Amtrak gonna miss those F59PHIs
Nice video dude!
what horn do all charchers have nathan p5la or k5la
they added a signal a little north of the encinitas platfrom?
what is that horn at 0:50 ? it sounds kinda cool ngl
What happened to the F59? I haven't been to the coast in a while. I've been stuck in Vista :|
All the F59s have been sent to Metra in Chicago
These consists are all over the place! I think I only saw one that had full Pac Surf Paint!
train 6908 has a broken ditch light
I don't think the SC-44 charger on the Pacific Surfliner trains with amfleets and horizons doesn't look good I think they really look better with the Surfliner cars the Genesis fits better with the amfleets and horizons Pacific Surfliner train's
loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee this video , it s remember me my California vacation
I love the charger locomotives
Same, loads of people have said they look ugly which is so untrue. Those chargers have such a great character to them. I am gonna miss the F59PHI though
The charger ones are really good and interesting, However I prefer the model of the F59PHI model WAY more than this new one.
Im glad some of the p42s have the Sc44 Charger's horns
I don't understand trains. Why does he ride the locomotive behind?
I think it’s just faster and more efficient. Cause it would take time and fuel for them to be redirected to the front of the train. I think
The loco's very pretty! 😘
At the minute 3:09 you can see how much ruined the tracks are. How is possible thath the tracks are so deformed?
9:58 what’s all that yellow stuff on the tracks?
Super video!
2:39
Thanks Spencer for sharing this amazing video, keep it up.
is it just me or has anyone never seen that type of locomotive?
I have and they have Marc train charters
2:27
I literally had kept on repeating that back and forth they sound the exact same but from a distance and nearby
Trem espetacular. Parabéns pelo vídeo! Abraço
When I took a vacation in San Diego, I had the chance to see Surfliner. Since then, I have liked them. Thanks for the video from BDW Trains
9:37. I saw that P42DC 20 on the Amtrak Coast Starlight #14!
great video bro
why single track ?
f59phi rip in pepperonis
who can say where the road goes...
Their not completely gone Metra has some of them. It is sad that they won’t be working with Amtrak anymore though
@@retardedthomasthetank1059 i know i was joking
THOSE ARE AMTRAK MIDWEST SERVICE
Nice work!!
Trains in the US are all about being as noisy as possible and running as fast as you can on bumpy tracks. New Siemens Locos are spot on. Good video.
2:09 90208 before the crash😔
1st train remind me cc300 in indonesia
First clip of the day a conductor learns how a train horn works
3:31 best k5la ever
I like the vid. I lived in California for sixteen years (1970s-1980s), nine of which in coastal SoCal -- never heard of Lake Forest or Sorrento Valley
Absolutely fantastic videos great pictures of trains fantastic
For my first time since the crash I saw 6901 the other day
Very interesting video and natural views at USA 🇺🇸
Great footage Spencer, very well put together. I just let it play all the way through :)
The surfline is really looking like a modern rail corridor being ruled by chargers and F125's
This doesn't feel right :(
SanDiegoRailfan399 why?
3:15 Amtrak goes sicko mode
Bounce bounce bounce
Yeah the track looked a bit jolted
Wait a minute another TH-camr use this clip for one of his videos of a to be continued I don't have the link because I'm not on computer
Will they still operate the Genesis on these trains
They are right now, not too sure how much longer.
Oh ok
spencerhughes2255 when Amtrak removes them from there roster they will lickly find a new home with another operator
Beauty is lovely
I like the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner F59PHI and F40PH Better than the Siemens Charger SC44. Also Amtrak Pacific Surfliner should have Siemens Charger Cars. If not, Amtrak Pacific Surfliner should bring back their F59PHI and F40PH and replace their Siemens Charger SC44
Reporting from St Louis: SC-44s are now in use for Amtrak Midwest
Dude I literally had a vacation going there like not that long ago and I've seen like about 3 daily chargers going on their route and no it's not the coastal liner paint scheme
Hey I will make another one
Am I the only person wondering why there's double headers recently? I've recorded some double headers idk why that's happening. Extra train sets or what?
Amtrak is very nice☺☺☺👍👍👍
Hey spencer. Did California Train Guy ask you before he could use his videos? He used them, and his channel got taken down. Did he really ask you?
2:36
So much for 90208 hitting a forklift. Also that horn in the beginning!
3:40 7:13 Amtrak San Joaquin cab car.
Sucks Amtrak can go from San Fran to LA via Bakersfield. It would probably shave 3hrs off the trip. I don't understand why Amtrak was in such a super hurry to replace the P42s. Its not like they were super old. I'm sure they still had a couple decades on them.
0:02 Our young victim is having problems, already.
2:33
2:30 Reminds Me A Cab car horn stem
oh my goodness Greg
Did cabcar 6953 always have that fouled K5LA?
That is the longest horn blast I've ever heard from the beginning on this video.
Excellent footage! So many picturesque locations. The proximity of the tracks to the Pacific never ceases to amaze me. Is flooding much of a problem during storms?
What's that weird thing between rails, on 1:08? It's only placed on bridge sections.
Its like a barrier for if a train derails on a bridge it wont derail completely and fall off the bridge.
The technical term is guardrail. Along the stock rail of every turnout there is a short guardrail opposite of the frog. The idea is that, if one wheel strays from the rail, a wheel flange will hit the guardrail, and a derailment is less likely.
I see, thanks for info :)
3:04 this one gave me goosebumps
Train 1 clearly went to the Permitheis School of Blowing horns
In 2021 coaster's sc-44 charger locomotives will replace the old locomotives
Have I missed something, or are F59s really out of service? Great video btw! Love the way that P42 revs up at 9:46.
Nope my friend. 3 were acquired by Metra. the ACS only operate on the Surfliner. The Capitol Corridor still has their power.
3:09
Wait a minute I sounded like I heard a cab car in the background
Nice Diesel trains, reminds me of Northern Frisia, Germany - except for the weather... Greetings from Bremen!🙋
Diesel is always a distant second best compared to electric, especially in fairly densely populated areas. Love clean air...
0:00 0:37 Amtrak cdtx2109
Like #800
3:30 is where amtrak really shines with horn shows.
That wasn’t a hornshow, he was just honking for the crossing

Tyler Mac Amtrak
These new locomotives have better horns than the F59PHIs did
I have to admit that they are very good looking. Especially their K5LAs but I’ll stick with the F59PHis
First one on horn so long Ditch lights turned off.
What's the use of ditch lights
Better visibility at crossings
