Congrats on the find, it’s a lovely example (warts and all). I expect you’ve done your homework, but if you’re looking for specialist classic Porsche restoration outfits, Tower Bridge Porsche might be worth taking a look at.

Hi TGE not sure if you have spoken to a paint shop yet, don’t quote me as a paint expert but it looks on the video like you have oxygen contamination/ fading to your paint giving the washed out effect. This is common on older cars where they have 2 stage paint (base cost and coloured layer) only rather than the modern 3 stage (base, colour, lacquer).
This is usually natural fading over time as the old style painting technique does not last as long.
The only way to rectify this would be to have a professional detailer wet sand the paint or possibly a respray.

Tom I have, in the past month, been searching for a 66’ -69’ 912 in Irish Green - you have nailed it as far as my opinion goes. As mentioned a little work, but try keep as much of the automotive aging as possible. Happy classic Porsche ownership.... cheers

This is Fantastic! I only run classic cars as they are easier to see out of, narrower, simpler to fix, and every trip is fun. I rarely have any breakdown issues. I’m wanting a classic Porsche too! Something that will increase in value and is not likely to go out of fashion!! The Porsche advantage is that Porsche still make all the spare parts needed to keep it on the road.
I'm liking this car the more I look at it. Seems like a nice car to have.

Congratulations on your new to you car. I think this car will mean the most to you after you've put some work into preserving it. Change out the old shocks and springs and upgrade the rubber suspension bushings to neoprene and it will give you a better ride. This will be like a child to you, and uncle Archie will be jealous when it's done.

Tbh I drove a Porsche 911 SC cabrio a while ago. It was SO much fun, you won't be as fast as in a Ferrari or Lamborghini from 2018-2019. BUT, you will have so much more fun driving it for a road trip.

nice choice! i remember when that model year came out (i was about 14). the body color bumpers were distinctive, as were those mag wheels.
i wouldn't be surprised, that if you keep it for more than a few years, you'll end up (assuming you have enough money) restoring it.

The clear coat is wearing off, it must have rust underneath the car, doesn't need a respray, the exterior trims need refinishing and some other things I see
the Old Porsche 911 is my top of the top Dream car i love cars where they go up in the sides and then they have round front lights mhhhhhh i love it it just looks amazingly good

A popping sound is the same sound my 66 912 made. The forearm front struts rusted out from the pan. And when I hit a bump you would hear the knock like that.
I don’t the Porsche badge on the hood is original. The early badges had orange stripes . The one on the car is from a later model.

Cool. I bought one of the first 66-911's about 50 yrs ago. Solex carbs & gas heater. Sold it about 2 or maybe 3 yrs ago. Stick your head under the front bumper and see if it has big bricks of lead out toward the sides. Those cars lift the front inside wheel accelerating around a corner too easily., even with the factory added leads.

I test drove a 1968 Porsche 911, as we're driving the cabin fills with oily smoke coming off the exhaust manifolds leaking into the heat exchangers (A common Porsche problem.. another German gas chamber) I ask the owner as we are driving "What about that smoke...?" he says "what smoke" I just chuckled and said 'yea'... we both just rolled the windows down and bellowed down the road... like a rolling forest fire.
I went in one of these to my secondary school prom, it was a dark burgundy red and an american import. But it was so quick and definitely made an entrance - awesome car!

Nice car, a few things to fix. The bonnet badge is not correct it should have orange solid bars not transparent red bars. The dash top is from a 1969 car. It’s missing the 912 badge on the engine panel. Fuchs were available from the 1967 year, so they are a later edition. Lovely colour and nice to Sports seats rather than the standard seats.

Nice. Just because it old doesn't mean you'll have issues with it starting, my E Type starts first time every time. 1966 means no road tax and no MOT required £££ in.
Great find! Had a ‘66, paid 4K for it in ‘76! (yeah I know).. get the rear 912 badge-diagonal, pretty sure the only year. Note driver side mirror only 👍

Great buy. My very first car was an Irish green 1967 912 which I drove through my 20s. Bought for £7,500 and sold 10 years later for £7,500....ouch. The right birds loved it ;)
Archies shoes go great with your car you should get a pair in case you ever end having to stand next to it. I like it but I needed to try tone witty obviously I didn’t do well. Enjoy it and I would enjoy watching what you do with it.
