Testing For Coronavirus COVID19 - Drive through self test UK

My wife and I went to a coronavirus (COVID-19) drive-through testing in the UK where they made us do the test our selves in the car.

As part of the government plan, they are ramping up testing so make sure you go especially if you think you are showing symptoms or have been in contact with someone you think may have.

Got the results of our tests the following day and they were negative! Very quick turnaround as they said it could take 48 hours or up to 5 days.

I had one at 1pm yesterday and still waiting now, did u get it exactly 24hrs the next day or just at some point the next day ?

I’m also worried as I didn’t stick anything on the test tube itself. I just already had a QR code on the sealable bag provided is that ok😩

It was at some point the next day. Althouth I think it depends on how busy they are and how many results they have to process.

If your tube already had a barcode stuck on it, then you dont need to worry. Ours already had all the stickers stuck on the parts that needed to be stuck on.

I have a question for you. I can't find the answer online. How does it work to have a drive-thru covid test? I know that you register, and you add the names and the car plate number. But how do they know if there are 2 or 3 people in the car, who's pack belong to whom? They have the packs in a big box, when the car is coming they give one pack to each person - they do it themselves - and when they finished they give it back to the NHS worker, who scans it and take it away. No name is written on the pack. So: out of 3 people in the car, when the results are back how do they know which pack belongs to whom? no names were written on the packs.

When we went we had to register for the test online first. When we arrived, we told them our name and the kits had the stickers already stuck on the packets. The stickers had our names on them already. When you register you tell them the number of people in the car and their names.

I just took the test yesterday can I still go out do I have to isolate if I don't have symptoms

Unfortunately, I am not a healthcare professional so cant give you any advice, but generally, if you or someone you know has symptoms, you would have to self isolate. When I took my test it was just for curiosity rather than because someone I knew had it or I had the symptoms. I didn't go out until I got my results just to be on the safe side.
