    THANK YOU!! The step by step is JUST what I was looking for as I’m only doing a one time project so far and no video truly gives you a step by step for beginners. They assume you know the basics but I truly don’t, thanks a ton!

    Min Wax’s “Barrel Aged” is a favorite for pine wood. It’s darker than most… has a real slate stone look of multiple darker grey colors yet allows subtle grain patterns to still show through. More realistic looking than Min Wax actual “slate” color. Great on fireplace mantels.

    Hi Angela, do you know how to achieve a weathered barnwood color stain on Douglas Fir? I’m building a house that has huge timbers inside. I’m trying to find more of a weathered gray stain but the Douglas Fir is naturally more red/0range and it will probably alter whatever stain I use. I have a painter because it’s a big project. I have a picture of the color I want. I like the different grays you’ve been using but it looks like the wood is pine and so the stains will take better than the Fir. Can you advise me?
    Thanks,
    Joan

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Joan, I don't have any experience with douglas fir, and you are correct that the finishes in this video are on pine. The best thing would be to test them out on samples of the actual wood and see which look best on the Douglas Fir.

    If you were doing a headboard ceiling on a screened porch and wanted a gray washed finish what process would you use considering it’s a large area? Is a pre-stain required? Do you have to wipe both the base and the wash coats? Is a poly required or desirable given it’s a vaulted ceiling?

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For a large area like that I would recommend using wood stain sprayer to apply the stain! I always recommend using a pre-stain because the stain applies so much more evenly and can look blotchy without it, but you could try adding a pre-stain in small area and then do a side by side comparison to see if it is needed - I have never stained an entire ceiling (only furniture) so I am not 100% sure if it is needed for a ceiling. I would say poly is unnecessary unless you really want a high gloss or matte finish.

    I was told to use Minwax but after watching this I really like the Verithane colors, my favorite was carbon grey. I need to stain a solid oak desk that is old and of course has a shiny coat on it so assuming I have to sand it down before using this? I know nothing about it and trying to learn. What sealer would you use for Verithane stain?

    • @AngelaMarieMade

    Can I use this on an outdoor table?

    • @AngelaMarieMade
      @AngelaMarieMade  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      These stains are formulated for interior projects mainly due to not being able to stand up to the weather. Exterior stains are much more durable. With that being said, there are not as many exterior color options but you could try to use an exterior clear coat on top of the interior stain and it will probably hold up longer. I have not tried so I don't really know, hope this helps. Great question, thank you!

    Hello. I just used sunbleached by varathan I was thinking it would be more on the beige side as that’s what I was told at ace hardware. It is more gray. I did 1 coat. Do you think I could go over it with a white wash? I wanted a more white wash or beige tint.
