It’s been less than three weeks since the four Bengal tigers left their steel transport crates and stepped onto grass for the first time at our LIONSROCK Big Cat Sanctuary. This comes after more than 15-years confined to a train carriage in Argentina. We are so happy to see that Mafalda, Gustavo, Messi, and Sandro are adapting well to their species-appropriate home! 🌳
This week Mafalda and Gustavo were released into a larger enclosure while Messi and Sandro’s enclosure was opened to include the space previously occupied by the other two tigers. Watch our brand-new video and experience yet another ‘first’ in the lives of these very special tigers who continue to amaze us! 💚

Our Tigers at last have found their feet.
The inner joy these beautiful souls must feel cannot be measured. No longer walking on their own waste; no longer bars surrounding them. It is certainly a time to rejoice. What a wonderful thing FOUR PAWS did for these suffering angels.
They are thriving, THANK YOU Four Paws and all at Lionsrock!
Just try to imagine that: 15 YEARS in a train car.

Seeing the clawing the tree was very moving, to see them start to be cats.
That got me too
animals are back to where they deserve, open air, grass under the feet, lovely humans around 👏👏👏

I’d like to Thank EVERYONE at Four Paws that was involved in getting the Tigers ready to be moved, all the way up to moving them to Lionsrock !!
Than, ofcourse, I’d like to Thank the Lionsrock Sanctuary for making more enclosures & all that xtra space you folks made specifically for these “Train Tigers”!! I know you were full up with Lions/Tigers before Four Paws even asked for your help !! Thank you so very much !! Only true Animal Lovers would have gone Above & Beyond, as all of you did, to give the “Train Tigers” a New & absolutely MUCH BETTER LIFE !! Thank you again !!

When the tiger scratched the tree, I lost it. To think he’s never seen a tree until now, but he knew he wanted to scratch at it. Maybe I’m over-reacting, but that suggested to me that he’s healing from his past abuse. I’m wishing all good things for these tigers and their human caregivers. FourPaws is the best at what they do! And thank you Lionsrock Sanctuary!

Awwww. They look just like a cat/my cat when there's something new. Even when you've just moved a piece of furniture.. The slow, deliberate, interested but cautious saunter they have.
God bless these big cats! How wonderful it is to see them on grass, in space, no bars, getting to explore, and scratch (somewhat unsurely,) a tree.
We look forward to then being relaxed into their larger more permanent space when they are ready. What a big step for them. They must still be overwhelmed at it all.

How wonderful for these tigers to be able to roam around open spaces, the likes of which they could only gaze at from the confines of that train carriage for so many years. That alone must've been torture for them. Thanks you guys for the fantastic work you do. I wish I could rid this world of ALL animal cruelty, abuse and mistreatment.

Dear Kim, they have the possibility to go swimming now. So far, tiger Messi put this paws into the pool, but he did not swim yet. The other tigers are just looking at the pool.

Dear Marren, Messi and Sandro's enclosure was opened up to include the space that Mafalda and Gustavo previously inhabited. They will get to learn about their natural surroundings step by step until their permanent enclosures are ready for them!
