    So this brand is owned by Great Star. They OEM for tons of brands and also sell their other brand, workpro. This brand was meant to be a step up, comparable to Kobalt (who they make most of the tools for) but kind of fizzled when Gearwrench tanked their trademark. I think they are selling out their remaining stock. Hopefully the relaunch under a different name.

    Awesome review! I have been in the market for offset wrenches just like these! Last week I saw SK had a 5 pc metric set for $49, they are short handle but for $49, how could you not! Surprisingly in my search not many companies are making these offset box wrenches..

    I believe these wrenches are available in the UK under the Halfords Advanced brand - they look identical, and Halfords has other rebranded GearDrive products. The Halfords set is also very keenly priced, and has a no-quibble lifetime warranty.

    Hi Catus Thanks . You've Learned One the Tricks of Tool Buying . Getting A Set You Can Afford at First Like that One and Then Replacing With Top Brand One By One As Needed. That Set Looms Pretty Decent Nice Roll Up Too. I Have A Five Piece SAE Set I've Had A long Time . Called Forever Tools . Don't Even Remember Where Or Exactly When I Bought them But They've Held Up. One More Tip is Ease of Returning Tools .

      Most of the tools on Amazon are none warranty tools . I have Neiko tools and Gearwrench tools was told but both to F off cant get either one warranted. Tekton and Icon is the way i go now.

    Great review, as always. Ty. I'm with you about PROTOS, not Snap Ons. This $28 set is VERY interesting (with 75 degree angles). (I got the gigantic Harbor Freight Dremel-like bits kit after watching your review last week, Thanks much!)

    With that angle I would just as well use a socket. I had considered these along with some others and decided on Tekton with 45 deg. angle box wrenches which is quite a bit more than standard 15 deg. combination wrench offset.

    Teng Tools makes an 11 piece set that has a 24x27 with the 75 offset, but it doesn't look like they sell it individually. I've been looking at them for a while. They have sales on their website periodically. I have their anti-slip combination wrenches and they are nice.

    I saw something online that I had never seen before. Pittsburg made a set of ratcheting offset box wrenches with a forward/reverse switch.
    They look older cause I can’t seem to find them anywhere. I ever save the picture. 😮

    Been on the market for a bleeder wrench for my work truck. I was going to just buy the wrench I need from a high end manufacturer, however, for the same money, this set is far more tempting.

    The 75° offset wrench most likely has lost its popularity in part to tight engine compartments. They were also in the bag when working on semi hermetic compressor and other industrial work.
    I was recently on the hunt for a metric set that was not going to be a consumable. To my surprise via Amazons globe store both Stahwille and Hazet were obtainable on the cheap .
    I didn't want junk to interfere with the non knuckle buster reputation the wrench has.

    what is your opinion on the depth of broaching on these, particularly on sizes 14mm and down? I had these saved in my amazon cart for awhile and wound up picking up a set on prime day when they were around 20% off. Mine seem very shallow and I am a little worried about rounding off some heads. Not sure if I got a dud or if they are all like that.

    • @CatusMaximus
      @CatusMaximus  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Much lower profile there are many situations where nuts and bolts happen to be under some type of flange such as hydraulic motors Etc and a surprising number of Automotive situations where you just can't get a bulky ratchet head and these will

      @whatroads4x4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ever taken of of gulfstream g450 [business jet] brakes. These will do it. There so much shit in the way with very little clearance that a ratchet and socket will not get the nuts off. But these.puppies right here will. U can thank the genius engineers tho

    • @hallowedbethygame2840
      @hallowedbethygame2840 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The traditional use case is for adjusting strut nuts, as the nut is typically offset and the strut needs to be held still with an Allen wrench inserted through the box end. The offset nut precludes the use of a box end wrench and the need for an Allen key precludes the use of a socket.
