I just picked up a 2013 Mazda 3 I touring this weekend and so far, I'm loving it. The ride is relatively comfortable, the power, though not a racecar, is surprisingly quick, and it's fuel efficient.
Lol I remember writing this. And I just traded her in two weeks ago for a 2015 Mazda 3 I grand touring...So basically the same trim as this video but in a 3rd gen lol
Cody Polar absolutely, but if your looking for it for reliability and fuel economy, the skyactiv engine is the way to go. The only two things are the auto transmission is a sealed unit and the engine is direct injected, so you’ll have to have the valves cleaned every so often, and use injector cleaner every couple fill ups, but it was one of the best cars I ever owned. Never gave me any issues whatsoever and drove it to 135k miles
As a Mazda owner I would say this is the most accurate review on this car, excellent job my M3 does 420 miles to a tank of gas half of those are driven on heavy traffic on the DC metro area
Just so you know, in 2015 in Australia and New Zealand, Mazda (and Mazda 3s) are outselling Toyota by a significant margin. They are very popular now (and MUCH better looking than the Civic or Corolla).
Bought a 2013 skyactiv hatch automatic transmission a few months ago and I absolutely love it. It was fun to drive as is, but with the addition of a Corksport exhaust and intake, as well as an orange virus tune, this car puts a smile on my face constantly. Great car and great community of owners.
We love our 2012 Mazda 3 hatchback. Little fact... the skyactiv 6 speed automatic actually as a single clutch in it! That's why it shifts so crisply in manual mode, this trans is a major upgrade and different feeling than standard automatics with only a torque converter. This trans has a clutch and a torque converter for the best of both worlds. The engine is amazingly efficient, and they keep lightness in mind with the drivetrain and body. Thats how it achieves mid 30's mpg average. We own the 5 door hatch with the white and black cloth interior, moon roof and Bose option, love it!
I have been driving for 45 years and never once had trouble parallel parking or changing lanes or backing up. Forget all the tech crap and expense and use that thing inside your head called a brain . Pretty soon you'll need a tech device to take a shit .
one thing i will never try is reverse parking. no matter how many times I've given it a shot, I can't do it without having to get out of the car 3 to 4 times just to check where its headed!
I love your reviews. Don't listen to everyone else. I like them because you get to the point and go over what people are going to want to know about their future everyday car.
@@alasdairmackintoshfunny to read how easily these prissy snowflakes were triggered, and it’s obvious, they couldn’t even listen through the interior section before ranting!! His review is strongly positive overall.
I have to say after spending quite some time in these I have grown to really like the 2nd gen Mazda3. Quality is good, reliability is good and it's not boring to look at and drive. For me it would be a civic, 3, or a focus but in terms of reliability 3 or civic. I just can't stand the staleness and complete dated mess that is the 13 Jetta and corolla. Good review as usual
We have no problem with the plastic in the interior, we just prefer touch points like arm rest pads to be soft padded. We do recall sitting in a 2011 Mazda3 and the armrests were leather stitched. As for the back up camera, you could look at the fact that every 2013 Civic comes standard with one. The Focus Titanium includes it as well. We image the next generation mazda3 will rectify our concerns.
Actually, the Honda Civic comes standard with a back-up camera on every model while the Focus Titanium has it as well. We just figured with all these tech toys the Mazda should have it as well. Obviously, Mazda realized that which is why the 2014 model includes it now.
bought a 2013 in red....love it...feels very quick in a 6 speed and getting 46 mpg and 570 miles per tank....i love this car...with that mpg...its fun and pays for itself
It's suppose to be a critical review, but he is smashing things that don't deserve to be smashed. Smaller wheels = better mpg city driving and quicker pulls off a full stop. Lots of other things he criticized seems like he is looking for things to knock.
funny to read how easily these prissy snowflakes were triggered, and it’s obvious, they couldn’t even listen through the interior section before ranting!! His review is strongly positive overall.
it really does show that the quality of your videos has gone up leaps and bounds in the last few months, but the total volume has significantly decreased. i think you guys should do more of the low production used car reviews in addition to these really well done ones. just my two cents. otherwise, keep ip the good work!
I really liked the way you reviewed this car. It was long, but always informative. I really liked the way you asked question that I didn't even think of. These questions helps me start thinking about what I really want and need in a new car. Thanks!
Been renting one... I have a couple gripes: it feels heavier than it should and its dashboard I feel is bloated in that its width is far larger than necessary, but I've noticed as a Valet that most new cars are like that now... The last thing is that I'm 5' 7" and the steering wheel won't come down low enough. I can't rest my arms on my thighs/armrests and have my hand on the bottom of the wheel. So I have to always have my arms up... otherwise powertrain wise and looks wise I like it
I thought the Mazda 3 was the latest iteration of the Protege. Am I wrong? The only things I wish it had are: 1) Blind spot indicator 2) Automatic braking (to avoid rear ending someone) 3) A GPS system 4) Back up sensors I have always seemed to have trouble shifting my 2013 into 6th gear. I almost have it mastered but have still considered taking it in for service before my powertrain warranty runs out. Quite possibly the car I will drive into my retirement when I next go shopping in 10 years. That's a while off, so I have plenty of time to research. That being said, including my current car, my last 3 cars have been Mazdas. The other two were Proteges. Very few problems or unexpected repairs encountered.
Bought M3 1 2012 1.5 months ago. Got it with 6k discount 2012 clearance sale. Really happy with it. Definitely more fun to drive than Civic, Focus, Corrolla with exception of Jetta probably.
When i was buying my new car i was looking at 2013 mazda 3 or 13 ford focus. Honestly, it all boils down to what your looking for. If your looking for tech, and fuel saving, and comfort go with focus. If you dont care as much for tech and more driving feel, and handling, mazda all the way. I love my 13 mz3 sport hatch. not to mention, its always so happy to see me when i look at in the front lol
Pretty good review. I couldn't care less about a backup camera though. I had one and never looked at it and with sun glare it's a waste of time. Love the M3 but needs some sound deadening in the right places. I have no other complaints. The car is a pleasure to drive and comfortable and runs forever.
If you finish watching the review he has lots of positive feedback to add. A good review will have positive and negative feedback and this one has both.
For the Honda Civic....the Canadian version does not have the back-up camera as standard, I really wonder if it is standard on ALL models of the Civic. Dude, you are comparing the Focus Titanium, which would make it a model up....anyway, so the lower trim of Focus doesn't have it, does it? How about the Corolla? How about the Dart?
i can guarrantee if you are interested in the mazda 3 theres not one thing i wouldnt change they're very fun, very responsive cars they love the road and they're 100% a blast to drive you would not be disappointed, these guys are car critics

Good fair review, but you seemed to miss a feature that attracted me to consider this car, which is the body build. No welds, or fewer welds. Is this a good thing or not? The sales people push it, but that's what I depend on a reviewer to tell me.
Hey! You guys should review the 2013 corolla le or a special edition they're a slight improvement from the reg corolla bust still 4 speed and no armrest in back
I would. I actually have it and I love it as my first car! It's perfect if you mostly drive yourself to school or work. It's comfortable and roomie. And great on gas!
IMO I believe the new sentra has the best in class interior now, and the also new civic not close behind. But yes, the Mazda3 still has a relatively nice interior still as well
now u have driven the Mazda 3 as well. so which car in your opinion is the Most powerful, best handling and comfortable and most luxurious car in the segment, also the car should have a Manual option? I think except for space the Focus wins hands down, u told the perfect defects of Mazda, its lightweight and has almost no cabin insulation, cheap feeling plastics and i f u observe closely u will get the interior design a copy of Volkswagen and BMW mixed 2gather, and the ride quality STIFF
dash only says 36 mpg but divide 570 miles by 12 gallons and its actually 47.5....did i mention the 6 speed manual is fast....and handles like a sports car
the ford focus in my mind has the best balance between luxurious interior, good sound insulation, great ride quality and brilliant driving dynamics... the only thing that lets it down is its back seat and the powershift transmission which is somewhat jerky, Ford might bring the Escort back, if it comes to US it solves the backseat problem and if the transmission 2 gets better its hard to beat the Ford, no wonder it became worlds 2 nd most sold car
Yeah Ford has been screwing themselves as of late. Simon Liu with the introduction of skyactiv they really dont share a lot of parts at all.

are u still going to review used cars?
Really like this car. Probably going to be my next car
I never test drove the 3, Im going to get the 6 which has a nice interior. I hope the 3 next gen is a lot nicer.
He compares this car to a luxury car how in hell is that a fair comparison. He almost only complained.
It competes against lexus

Great review.
That's one nice car.
blind spot is standard option or how much does it cost to add to car cost
Can we get a genesis coupe review?
