Another great source for denim is Nick of Time fabrics. I have no affiliation (I wish!😂), but have purchased from them twice and have been happy with everything. I have purchased both denim and knits from them. LOVE their cotton spandex jerseys and J Crew knit! I purchased some Made in USA denim in late fall last year and it’s wonderful. I haven’t sewn it yet as I lost some sewjo for several months, but I’m planning on sewing some shorts and maybe this skirt for summer. They run sales often and I noticed today they have 48% off for 48 hours today and tomorrow 5/4-5/5 and free shipping over $50. They are based out of Pennsylvania.
I love "Itch to Stitch". I do not wear skirts, but love her dresses, tops, jackets, and pants!! :+) She gives great illustrations, and directions with all her patterns!! I'm a pear, but find any alterations are a breeze with her products!! My waist is 20" smaller than my hips!!
Very nice skirt. We shorties do face some challenges. I’m also 5’2”. As far as size 8 maybe shortly after birth.(Lol). I’m hippy with very much indented waist. On of my favorite things to finish off skirt & pants waist is a twill waist band. Does require zipper &button and can’t tuck in top. So comfortable though.
You are really selling Itch to Stitch patterns to me, based on fit alone. My next pattern company to try, using the fitting course. I do have some ITS patterns that I haven't sewn up
Really like the skirt. I don't have a denim skirt in my wardrobe but think it would be nice. I really love the fabric your top you were wearing for the video was made from. Colours are fantastic and looked lovely with the skirt
That would be fun! It would be pretty easy to add the necessary length. You would need to add a side slit or back vent for walking ease, but that's doable as well!
Always like a nice jeans skirt where you can add top stitching. Think I'd place the front belt loops equidistant and farther apart to hold my belt better. With my hourglass figure (sounds better than it is) a back yolk usually fits me better. Cute on you!
I love the denim skirt pattern as I have been looking for one and now you showed me a really excellent one. Thank you. Also, what top were you wearing, as I love the fabric, and it looks really nice on you. Take care, be safe and have a good day. It was a pleasure to watch you three times this week already and we have Friday yet to come! 😀❤
I'm glad you're enjoying all the videos this week! The top I'm wearing with the skirt is the Rhapsody by Love Notions in a Dashwood Studios rayon challis that I bought from Minerva!
You are so right! It's been a bit crazy over here the past couple of weeks. However, I have been able to have good "therapy" time in my sewing room this week and that has helped!
I love this skirt but have a concern about styling. I’m large busted, short waisted, and really straight through the hips (my high hip is same maybe slightly larger than full hip). Skirts like this look really nice with a shirt tucked in but my waist is right under my bust so that would look ridiculous… but I’m afraid if I tried to alter to sit lower the skirt would literally fall of while I walk… would the elastic be strong enough to make it work… I have this problem constantly!!!
I am built the same way. My waist is also right under my bust. Honestly, I will probably rarely wear this with something tucked in. I really just wanted to show the skirt for the video. I think this would be just as lovely with a shirt untucked over it. I would fit it to your natural waist. The elastic trip helps a ton in keeping it up!
Love it! Do you choose the belt you are going to wear with the garment before you put the belt loops on it? Also, I love how you styled it with your multi-colored Rhapsody.
Kind of. I really like a 1.5" belt on my frame. I have a couple of skinnier ones that I will wear in these belt loops, but I really just made sure my 1.5" belts can fit and then I'm good!
Metal zippers are just hardier so they are great for heavier fabrics such as jeans where there might be more stress on the area as you sit and stand. Because this is a skirt, there isn't as much stress on that area so I was able to get away with a nylon one!
It could be a couple of things. You might need a bit more room in the hips or you might need to do a sway back adjustment in the back. If the hem swings towards the back (looks shorter in the back) you could also need a tilted waist adjustment.
@TomKatStitchery I have no idea. The hem seems to be level in photos in general but I might be in the habit of pulling everything down. Skorts ride up less in back because they act more like skirts scooting up more evenly. (I'm glad those are back in style). I think more abundant skirts dont do this but I am a petite person and dont like to swim in fabric. Pants I have the opposite problem. The back pulls down no matter if it's big, small, or the right size. Even high waisted ones. Even after I take in the waist at the center back seam. I basically hide a dart there. Pull on stretchy work pants dont do this, but they are always print fabrics. (Plaid or check or houndstoothe). I need to learn fly zippers because I have to alter all the RTW anyway. The taylor gets annoyed and said to buy clothes in my size. I guess she doesn't want the work. My hips are a size larger than my waist and bust. I won't even buy dresses because it's an issue for fit. I'm sure it's a big butt thing, but I'm not sure which thing. I think with a pattern I might be a size larger on back from the front but I haven't sewn fly pants yet. I'm not sure about sway back. I think I had that posture until I did bikram yoga for 5yrs. I don't think I stand with a pelvic tilt anymore. The only time I have duck butt is for ackward chair! For some reason, I thought sway back adustment was for pants and not skirts. Maybe I don't understand what it is. It's been I while since Ibread the adjustmebt book from the library. I should reread it, I think. One more random thing I noticed. In skinny jeans the inside lrg seam on the keft only likes to shift towards the front. I'm testing out the full inner thigh adjustment on my jogger/legging pattern. I'm using it for PJ bottoms and working out what pants adjustments I need to learn. This is the myfit joggers, so the tech did it.
@TomKatStitchery more info. I wore my jeans with bekt to work and looked in the mirror. 1. The frobt is a little lower than the back waist band. Today I wore my new skort which I will now return. The front rode up and pooled fabric at ny hips, and the pockets do the pocket thing all my pants do. They look like they will turn inside out at any moment. I hate RTW. The assumption that if you are wide, then you must be tall. They assume petite means narrow. I can't wear anything. Im sixk of wasting $$$ but I dobt sew fast enough to keep up with weight goes up, then weight goes down.
I’m not buying anymore patterns, she says… see’s Whitney’s video of amazing skirt, buys pattern immediately. 😂
Said that too…then bought the skirt pattern!
You do not walk alone. I’ve said and done same
That was my internal discussion! Lol
Sorry about that - kind of 😉.
💯
there is no way that I can even begin to make all my patterns even if I sewed 2 a day for the rest of my life. And I still buy…??? 😜

This is a fabulous jeans skirt pattern! I highly recommend!

I agree! Her patterns are done so well!
Great skirt, I'm really liking the front pockets, very flattering!
I do too! They are different, but very flattering!
This looks so good on you!! I do love her patterns! So good!
Thank you!
I can see why you love this pattern, it looks so cute on you❤
Thank you!
What a great pattern! Look forward to making that up, as well. Love it in the white denim.
Thank you!
I've been looking a pattern just like this for ages❤
Me too! I was so excited to see the line drawings for this!
This pattern just showed up in my email morning so it's great to see you review it.

I saw that! It looked amazing!

Is this pattern on sale and do we use Kat10 for a discount? Very cute and I’d like to make it
It is on sale, but I don't have a code for this one. The sale is already applied on the site for this one!
Under what circumstances does one need a metal zipper over a nylon one?

I’m glad you didn’t leave Lena topless, lol. I love the skirt.
Wow-the skirt is so flattering on you! Maybe I need this pattern too! Lol…😂
Has anyone lengthened this pattern to below the knee length?
I'm sure that some one has, but if not, it would be pretty easy to add the length you desire at the lengthen/shorten line!
All Indy companies should just ask you to sell them to me/us this way. lol
😂
I'm not straight, and skirts ride up while wearing them. Any tips on why that is?
