I don't believe everyone should breed. Some breeders tell their viewers don't breed which in my opinion is not the right advice. This is a trade like any other. It Definitely takes the right individuals of young prospects and they need to get the right information from the get go. There will always be growing pains and you will simply never stop learning. I really like these two men, they take a humble approach, they are legends in their own right, they are willing to teach what has taken years to learn but that comes with a cost. Great interview, keeping working dogs alive
That’s a bold statement sir! While I do admire the Sorrell’s bloodline, I wouldn’t put the “Best” crown on that or any other bloodline. Also, at what point does the Sorrells dogs become the Mad’s and Skip’s dogs?
Bolio was conditioned by the Cajuns for his match. Which he won. Patrick hauled his butt to the desert and bred the 🥜 off of him. Said to be real good in rolls
@@matthewnorris8159 Best depends on what one is looking for and asking of a dog. I agree, no such thing as a "best dog;" however, I do find the Sorrells' line to be the best dogs I have used to pursue and obtain my goals...and have found them to be incredibly well rounded and achieved/titled dogs as well...in many venues mind you.
If it wasn’t so hard to own and show bulldogs today, I’d definitely look into getting some pups from him. He’s an old timer with a proven line of bulldogs.
I didn’t know Bandit was so highly regarded. I had a dog that was sired by Carter (Hardeyes x Bandit) out of a daughter, of his sister(Old Boiler) bred to Roadblock.
My dogs ran 41-45% COI towards the end, and I didn't have fertility problems. The key was not to worry about paper percentages, but watch the traits instead. There was a red side, and a black side. As long as I crossed those sides, the line although tight on paper, mimicked the original crosses in traits and vigor.
There is "COR" (or RC), which stands for Coefficient of Inbreeding. This number can be very high without issues, upwards of 75%. Then there is "COI", which stands for Coefficient of Inbreeding. Fertility often becomes slightly suppressed around 25%, but for the APBT one typically won't see any issues until they are around 35+%. I have no idea what "COE" is. As a result, I have to assume you are confusing it with COR, which one would not have any issues at 41-45% you reported.
@cmnndr987 That's not true at all. The Wright's Coefficient of Inbreeding formula is a scientific probability only. You could start with dog pair A & B, and dog pair C & D, who were all brothers and sisters, yet have very different results. The variable is selection.

Hi I recently came to know and admire your work, and I have a question. In theory and with enough time can you make a dog as muscled and ripped as a apbt but as big as a dogo arguentino? Without taking into account their personality traits.
Another thing I found interesting that I didn’t quite understand is that Bert had no use for Eli Jr or Bullyson blood and he didn’t believe that Chivo was off of Bullyson and he’s got Peggy instead of piggy in his pedigrees and Peggy is off Koehler Jake and scooter
Don't get too hung up on anomalies. Having a dog in a pedigree is entirely different that building a line off that dog. You know this...especially when the Sorrells line was built off Zeke, Carver (Black Widow,) & Corvino, Also, don't let Ron get you too ruffled. Dude is sensitive. He is a bitter type of person, and got mad at me because I did not support Biden. No lie. haha
@@APBT-Bandog I may do that. In the present climate most people, with good reason are reluctant to discuss the specific characteristics that interest me. For instance, Bert thought Shoshone was his best, but based on what I was told, I would’ve preferred Johnny Walker Red’s fast and slick style.
@@APBT-Bandog What's your opinion of Embark testing? Can they really get a DNA test that more accurate than pedigree's? And can they really test for all the dispositions for sickness they claim they can? I've gotten to the point where I always wonder if its real science or junk/fake science. As for somebody demanding you vote for Biden, are they corrupt or Crazy? I wouldn't even trust him to clean a bathroom. I'd be afraid he would use something bad instead of disinfectant. I currently work as a Janitor so I better not go down that Rabbits hole. I hate a nasty bathroom. Anyway, the main question is the embark one. Is it real science, bogus garbage or somewhere in between?
Thanks for this interview. I respect this man so much beyond Bulldog's. I personally have the opinion that Clemmons was a better breeder than Mr. Boudreaux.
Amazing interview, if skip every see this question hopefully he will elaborate more on his opinions on breeding families once more... At one mention new comers was breeding different lines into families which leads back to the same source inadvertently... Then at the closing of the video, breeders in his era that he held to a higher standard was doing worse. I can only imagine if bert covered up boomerang blood, what else did he conceal?? Point being, the old days was definitely not the yardstick or criteria for this generation to be measured with ..
I had to rewatch this entire interview over again, it's even more interesting and entertaining the second time through, six months later.

Watched the whole series Lee. Appreciate the knowledge.
Amazing series, makes compelling minded individuals research worth exploring 💪🏿💯

This was awesome!!! Great interview with a lot of info!! Hats off to you guys!
Bubba Boe to Two Shoes. Two Shoes was Hardeyes to Miss Boomerang or a daughter of hers. That was Ch.Raisin’s breeding.
Thank you so much 👍
This was absolutely great. All 6 parts. Thanks brother
Thank you for these interviews 🙏🏻
Sorrells blood is all around the best blood, Man these videos made my day. Salute. Alot of info. P.S is it true Crazy Duggan beat up Bolio in a test!?
No sir. I don't believe that. Patrick is so amazed with Bolio that I am sure he was never bested.

@APBT-Bandog I'm referring to Wright's Inbreeding Coefficient. Yes, my dogs were all in the 40 percentile after 25 years, and only one initial cross.
