Brilliant idea, my lawn is full of mature dandelions. I've ordered one on Amazon UK, so I won't have to Roundup which tends to burn the grass. Thanks for the tip
It’s the “Weed Wizard” for lawns. Doubles up as a handy tool for removing the core of an apple. Next week LawnRight will demonstrate how to scarify small patches using an onion slicer.
I was musing about your apple corer while doing my edges today with my latest gadget. I have raided the decorating tools for the long bladed wallpaper scissors (shears) to do my lawn edges. Lovely and sharp and long. Added that to my carving knife for cutting lawn edges against paving and the vegetable knife for clearing tight crevices between slabs.
Couple years ago, when I was doing the Sunday lawn plan, this was what they sent along with their soil test kit. Even though I'm doing my own thing now, I still use it to pull cores for my tests. Pulls a nice size core.
I've always used a flat blade screwdriver for this kind of single weed puller - I just insert it straight down next to the weed and then pop it up. That said, I'm going to add an apple corer to my tools.
Great vid as ever mate....ordered a couple straight away. Hoping will be good for removing weedgrass because the fiskars weed puller I use leaves a bloody crater!!
Quite reassuring to see other lawns hit rubble after an inch. I have taken a week off work to get things done 1. Completely killed the lawn 3 weeks ago 2. Cut and scarified by hand the full lawn yesterday with a terrifying amount of moss and thatch 3. Debating to either completely till the lawn where there is only an inch of soil, or just thrown a good few bags of soil and hope for the best Worried that if I start tilling it will create a frightening amount of debris that will need cleared that I have not prepared for 😮💨
If you can add another 4 or 5 inches of soil it'll give it a much happier life being able to push roots down.. That said I've seen some lawns do OK with just an inch of soil.. But some not so.. Up to you but I bet you'd feel better knowing you'd tilled it
Used an apple corer before for weeds but this is next-gen apple corer. Purchased a red one so easy to spot if left on the lawn. (The yellow one was 3x the price!?)
Quick question 🙋♂️ - Q - when mixing selective herbicides and you add an extra Litre of water to weaken the guideline ratios will this have affect ? And would it be safe to reapply the correct mixing radio one week after ?
Ordered via your link, apple corers never been so popular for that seller! Great shout. What would you do with the hole that is left, could you put some of the soil core back in without the root?
Would I be able to use this technique in order to improve/ breakdown clay soil under my turf somehow? It's driving me mad with all the rain we have had the past 12 months now! Won't drain, and once the rain comes again, I need wellies just to walk on my lawn, and it's June for goodness sake!
@@LawnRight Sean, i recently did a lawn reno with compost over the seed, th majority has come through lovely but i have some bare patches. Can i seed over the compost and cover seed again or do i need to rake out the compost in the bare patches then put seed back down, then cover again?
I used a dinner fork 🍴 and a kitchen knife 🔪for my weeds. I removed like 30 weeds in 13m² 😩 seriously hurt my knees. From no weeds to tons in a few weeks after renovation. I don't know where they came from. Maybe I won't water from the waterbutt again.
Morning Shaun, best Saturday wishes. I have been trying to decide on which premium hallow tine aerator to get off garden imports, between: Swordman, Artemis, Landzie Which do you recommend?
Hi, i just bought the Wallansee 2 prong one, works brilliantly, 28 quid on Amazon, solidly made, and the plugs come up most of the time, did 20 pushes and poked out a chore once!
@@KB996 Recently had this model off amazon, while I believe it would work great for a budget option, unfortunately because I have heavy clay soil, due to the design of the tines, it constantly clogged, so had to return it. Top tip, clean out your tines after use and spray with WD-40 to keep them nice and smooth
Yeah, mines clay as well, i think ithe soil needs to be just rihht, not too wet or too dry. Back lawns worse than the front and i tested it on the back lawn, worked well on the test patch. I would imagine it will work better on front lawn as that has better soil.
Just looked how many were sold in the last month (50+) if it's significantly higher next month you and your customer you should put in a claim for a share of the profits. 😊
Thanks Shaun… great tip! Love the simple (Cheap) ones! I suppose you could also use a 22mm piece of copper tube.. but just alter it so you have handle? There’ll be lots of ideas now you’ve started our brains going…. Thanks for making these… and your humour cracks me up. 😂😂😂 🤓B
Nice mate, this has to be one of the cheapest weed tools ever heh. Now someone just needs to develop a longer handle with a 3D printer, easier on the back and knees.
This will be known as the baird weed remover from now on. Get someone to market it and like you say millionaire in a month. Or maybe not 🤣 nice tip though 👍
Hi shaun keep it up you are doing a great job and having fun making some brilliant videos superstar Ali Walsall west midlands england junction 10 m6 Walsall churckery up the walsall 😢😮😅😊

🤣🤣🤣👏👏👏👏👏👏Brilliant!
I ordered one, arrived yesterday, got a sideways look from the wife when I told her what I was going to use it for 😂
Can’t wait to try it.
Yes! 🤣🤣

This is brilliant. Ordered one straight away. Hopefully will work on poa.
Theoretically it should do 😊
I’m not kidding what an idea genius 😂😂😂
🤣🤣 Thanks😊

Brilliant🤣
You always crack me up and make me chuckle🤣🤣
Great idea though, will order one when i get back from Cyprus🏖🏖🍺🍺🍹🌅

Ha ha.. No worries hope your having a great time!
Thanks Shaun, I just brought one via your link

I'm hopeful on the smaller weed grasses as soon as you see them

Speedwells look great in lawns.
Personally, I would not bother my arse with attempting to remove these 'harmless' annuals. Dandelions? Now that is a different proposition!
Always learning, top idea 💡😜

That's crazy.. I just went for the cheapest 🤣🤣
@@LawnRight red was also the cheapest 😉
We mark all our outside tools with orange duct tape. Too many tools lost in the lawn to be found by the mower.
How you doing? 😂😂😂😂 just love your humour and your practical advice.
😂😂😂
Shaun another fantastic video and a great tip, ordering one now 👍👍👍
Thanks Kenny, you'll enjoy this one. I really like it!

I know.. I need shared in Amazon! Yes you could def put the soil back absolutely 😊
I use the curved forked weeder - it rips out dandelions right down to the bottom of the root with no issue
Nice. I have one but havent used it yet 😂
@@LawnRight I love mine! Dig it in, twist and pull!
Core blimey, now I've seen everything. That's initiative for you.
I do the same with a bulb planter, they are bigger. they go deep enough to simply turn the removed mud upsides down to plug the hole. Reseed. Bosh

Much easier than my glyphosate in a syringe method! Plus aerates the grass too!
