I will be doing college advising in low income High Schools, my whole background has been in advising since I graduated but things started to change and eventually felt tied down for years, now I have the time and I'm ready to start this journey again ! I know! But there was one man on my team that was in his 60's! He retired early and wanted to keep moving. Sometimes they have programs for just over the summer as well.
I did AmeriCorps too! I was in Americorps NCCC based out of Denver Colorado! We traveled all over the southwest region. I definitely had a love/ hate relationship with it but regardless a great learning experience.

My cousin did americorp last year and he loved it as well. My brother considered it but ultimately chose not to but I wish he had. I'm sure he would have loved it too
I am a young entrepreneur, married with young children. I am in between jobs right now, recently left a toxic workplace and I feel this is what I should have been doing. I love meaningful work; if it doesn't make sense to me in how it is helping people I can't get with it . It's not about the money to me. Thanks for this video.

Classical Vibes It depends on what 'job' you sign up for. For the most part you do not need a college degree to serve. You must have a High School dipolma or GED or be enrolled in GED classes. I am serving as a construction crew lead for Habitat for Humanity and I did not need a college degree but they did value my past experience. You just need to be happy to learn. It has been one of the best experiences of my life. I hate to see it end in July and have considered renewing my contract.
You're video was so informative. I'm currently taking classes online.My major is sociology, I live with my parents and will be finished with my degree December 2019. I'm confused about the living allowances...is this for me to live on a campus or can I stay at home?
Do you mean the living allowance from Americorps? I didn't get a living allowance, I only got the stipend. Some programs will give you the living allowance in addition to a stipend. So I'm not sure if they would give you a living allowance if you didn't need it. You'd have to ask your program in advance.

Absolutely! I moved from Texas to California. I applied from Texas just before I graduated and got accepted a couple months in advance. It gave me time to figure out where I was going to live and all of that (:
I have been looking into this and they do have a form that you fill out with benefits that you would like to have if you were to serve with them such as housing, stipend, education award, etc. Just sign up on their site and you should see all of the awesome things they offer. check out serviceyear.org

Madison and I actually applied to the Peace Corps but I'm pretty sure we got turned down because the program we really wanted was about sustainability in the Philippines and they're a Catholic country. I don't think Peace Corps felt comfortable sending an LGBT couple there :( but good luck to you! My daily life was usually a lot of hard work outside, haha. I got a really nice tan and I lost some weight but it was always fun because of the people I was with
