The fact that such a large number of innocent people were executed on the basis of circumstantial, ridiculously flimsy evidence is astounding. Great story, though.
Air Date:01.13.1949 ( January 13, 1949) Plot:+ "The Too-Perfect Alibi". Sponsored by: Auto-Lite. A charming and wealthy guy from Croton decides to murder his rival, but only after putting together a perfect alibi. It is indeed a perfect alibi...the killer gets away with it! + “Price Charming that’s what Jack called me, and when he said that something clicked inside me. I remembered how in fairytales the good prince always married the princess and they lived happily ever after. Except that first there was the ogre that had to be taken care of…” “After I stabbed him I watched him slunk to the floor of the car and that’s all there was to it, the ogre was dead and now the prince and the princess could live happily ever after…” www.oldtimeradiodownloads.com/thriller/suspense/the-too-perfect-alibi-1949-01-13
In 1949 Danny Kaye starred in _The Inspector General_ which was originally to be entitled _Happy Times_. (See the Wikipedia article for "Happy Times" song.)
Spoiler alert (skip this if you haven't heard the whole episode yet): Danny Kaye might not have been plausible in the role of an ordinary killer but as a guy who's so innately decent he even tries to turn himself in, and whose conscience will never leave him alone, he's believable.
The trial is completely circumstantial, she never ought to be sentenced by these meager evidence. But for the sake of the story let's say this was a proper verdict. 28:11 - what was this little laugh?
These suspense radio shows outdone that TV version hands down

This doesn't work if you knew Danny Kaye. He was one of the nicest guys ever. This is out of character for him, both as an actor and as a man.
