In this video Dustin- The One and Only (from Dustin's Fish Tanks on TH-cam) and I, visit Aquarium Zen in Seattle. I am fortunate enough to call this shop my neighborhood fish and aquatic plant store, however it is my favorite shop in the Northwestern USA, period.
This was a quick video run, through the store, showing the tanks full of fish and exotic aquatic plants, as well as manicured Amono ADA, low iron glass, rimless tanks and high tech CO2 supported, show vivariums, and living walls.
Steve Waldron, the Owner and local aquascaping expert, gives us a great little interview in the second half of the video and explains some of the engineering, time and collecting of plants and unique fish that went into this Seattle fish shop. From ADF tissue cultures to Kessil and Twin Star lighting to ADA & Do¡aqua glass fixtures and tanks, this is a must see shop if you're in Seattle.
It is not as tightly manicured as Aquaria on the Eastside, but rather it is a living breathing organism, and a speak easy style shop, tucked away, almost in an alley. It is constantly changing with Dutch, nature, jungle and iwagumi style scapes decorating the entire store.
Big Thanks goes out to Steve for letting Dustin and I film, and I hope you check out Dustin's Channel for a more thorough interview which I helped film as Steve philosophizes over the design and life he has fostered in his own shop.

Beautiful plants
Amazing video of an amazing location. I love the stands, I also enjoy the clean look of the place. Nice selection of fish, snails, shrimp, and plants. Beautiful without being pretentious. you are lucky to have this store close by. Great video, thank you.
Dustin started out fresh once too. I sub to him, and my fav vids are those that give the history of things. The one he did recently on the first Fl fish farm, and toured it, was awesome. Keep doing what you are doing. It's a breath of fresh air. Thanks for this video, awesome store!
Thank you kindly. I have plans in the works to talk to FL independent farmers along with my new friends at Tampa Aquaculture Farms (family owned). And then mote videos on expeditions that discovered fish we keep, or where their names and line bred traits come from. So im doing update videos, since TH-cam algorithms like daily content, but as it builds I hope to have an etymological playlist, a breeding one, and so on. Doing those videos weekly, with more tips and tricks in between and live chats.
Tank on!
I love going to Aquarium Zen. It is so pretty and calming. They are also one of the only stores selling ADA aquariums in the Seattle area.
Yeah, I supposed in Bellevue there is Aquarus run by Fiona Tu (world champion aquascaper) but I like zen more
What an awesome shop. I wish we had a shop like that in Miami.
nice! I'd love to visit sometime
Awesome video! Lots of talent in that shop that day!
Awesome shop , thanks for the tour
Thanks a cool store!
Nice content mate just subscribed hope to see more from you
Awesome shop
Very nice shop
You guys at ADA have some amazing videos
Going to be in the area soon. Can’t wait to check out the shop in person.
right on, tell them you saw it online. Steve will get a kick out of it :)
Thanks for sharing, I was entertained :-)
hey a video that im in! love aquarium zen!
Lovely store
I bet that was fun! Incredible.💗🐡💗
Yeah, I love just talking to Steve and learning...im in there at least once a week, but throw Dustin in, and the aquascaping contest the next day....it was a blast.
Ha ha, weird. I bumped into you at Aquarium Zen like a month ago and we chatted there, and so this evening I was wondering if Aquarium Zen had a youtube channel, so I searched for it and presto -- I found your channel that I didn't even know existed. Cool content! Subbed!
Right on! Im glad you found me...and also im Steve's defacto channel, and we plan on putting more stuff up or using some of my videos as tutorials for folks curious about various issues
@@Fishtory Very cool. Steve's shop is a rare find; few if any like it out there. I have to stay away because I have self-control issues but I'm going to make a trip soon, maybe this week, to see what gems he's got hidden away in there. I'm keeping my eyes peeled for new content here though. Good stuff, keep it up.
haha i totally hear you
Luckyyyyyy. U so diff. Looking now
Yeah the lightning strike makes a change lol
Wow such an amazing store going to make a road trip from California
worth it haha
You are lucky to have such a great lfs.
it's obvious to me I need to move to Washington. I live in Oklahoma City and it's lacking anything like this shop. I buy most of my stuff online.
Cathy B I can relate. I’m in Tulsa and nothing comes close to this.
It looks great but it is important to know: co2 and 50% water changes every day! It is terrible. *It is to be slave to the aquarium.*
Thank you very much for the information and for the tour! 👍
Any idea what the tank light combo was, they look great
bobfal twin star and kessils
awesome store do they ship out of state
Patricia Kloeppel sadly, no... But I probably could if you need me to get tissue cultures or something...but i think you can buy them online through ADF cultured plants
Very nice store.. Anybody knows the name of that fernlike plant at 9:51 ?
I asked too and he wasn't actually sure. I believe he told me that He thought they were some type of "willow fern ". But it's a terrestrial plant, (very fine leaf fern that overlaps it's own needles) then bolbitus at the base, plus the big plant in the front 40 gallon is emersed bolbitus.
Dustin's a seattlite too? dang~
Spoke too soon. lol
Heh he's from Kentucky, But him and I did some tours of fish rooms and stores while he was in town for an aquascaping contest ( that I actually ended up winning, and it was full of talented locals, it was a tie at first)
Will the fish jump out of the water?
- Chuan
he could, but he knows what happens... that only took one try
Maybe not turn your camera so fast? The place looks amazing, but I got dizzy one third into your video and couldn’t finish watching. Thanks.
Yeah this video is 4 years old and very bad grade camera phone...apologies
@@Fishtory No worries and thanks for your reply.
Awesome fish store and some incredible set ups loving it all the way.
