Oh! Man You made it a masterpiece... I like it so much indeed. I am crying... remembering childhood and nice moments... happiest ones. You are a Light of Hope to this world... sharing your talents and skills with the piano :D Thank you very much and continue with this ;) you are doing it so perfectly.
Awesome. I only played (and completed) some of these games. I like how you put in a classical touch and made it your own. Hearing some of these themes are making me a little nostalgic. Take Aquatic Ambiance from DKC. When I was playing this part of the game at age 8, I would pause the game before completing the level just so I can get lost in the music. Memories. Thanks for bringing them back again Lucas.
I vote for the entire Donkey Kong catalog (1, 2 & 3) Such brilliant stuff! Also, Castlevania IV in it's entirety. You should release individual projects with songs in the same order they appear in the games. I, for one, would buy them! Great job.
Can I just say, I appreciate all your music and all of it is so amazingly beautiful. Listening to this gave me shivers down my back due to nostalgic feeling.
Never heard of "The Chaos Engine" before this video - and I grew up in the 16-bit era - but mixed with the piano it is an incredible track that would not sound out of place in an A+ tier RPG. Very moving. Also - I hasten to add your talent is underserved by your current computer setup. Get something reliable so we can hear more of this great work!
Thanks a lot man, I think it was called Soldiers of Fortune in the US perhaps you know it by that name?? Glad you liked my version of it anyway =D I do have a better setup now so I no longer have the problem I had when making this. Thank you!
Damn Lucas, your giving me a nostalgia trip here. Makes me want to go out and buy a Keyboard and start practicing myself. *sighs* but alas first need to build my Work Rig.
Thanks man =) I got my piano when I was 17 and didnt get my recording equipment until I was 20. 3 years of practicing everyday when it comes to recording time I didn't have to worry about not being able to play what I wanted. The order you buy them doesnt matter all that much =)
This is beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talent with the world. I love this. Especially Aquatic Ambience. Would you happen to have the sheet music available anywhere for these songs?
Donkey kong theme... ooh brings back memories =) And on volume 2 Megaman X themes, zelda, dk2! Holu shit mate and I couldn't imagine to love your music more =)
Yo dude. Saw in the comments that you taught yourself. I did the same with guitar (I'm super mediocre) but I am slowly teaching myself piano instead. No theoretical knowledge or anything, so I was wondering; Looking back, what do you think you could have done differently to accelerate your learning? Other than the obvious "practice more." Just trying to figure out exactly what I'm gonna do before I jump in.
+Tyler Tracey Hey Tyler. Thats cool that you're teaching yourself. I'm quite happy with how fast I learnt. I think what I did was a pretty effective way of learning piano. I learnt all the basic triads first (major and minor) then went on chord sites (like ulimate-guitar.com) And just played along with my favourite songs following the chords while working out the melody on the right hand by ear. I learnt a song thats in each key so I could get familiar with every key and know the scales and chords in them (all the while figuring out the melody of the songs by ear) E.g. Beatles Let It Be - C Major, Survivor Eye of The Tiger - C minor, U2 Still Havent Found What I'm Looking For - C#major etc. I'd say that's the best way to start.
Dude if your promote this video like facebook and other social medias, I gurarantee you'll get A LOT of views. This is superb. You have talent like no other. Cheers!
But it's Final Fantasy IV not II for "Red Wings", and Final Fantasy VI not III for "Snowy Fields". Yes I know they came out under two names but at the end of the announced songs for Volume 2 is Terra's Theme from Final Fantasy VI actually named VI instead of III. This confused me for a moment.
Hello, Nice Work! The musics are avaliable for download? I wish I could hear this anywhere else...Thank you. Oh.. Almost Forgot, I would like to hear you playing a song from Metroid Series.
***** Thank you!! They aren't for sale at the moment, but you could use TH-cam2mp3 or something like that if you like =) I will be doing some Metroid pieces in part 3 =D
+R.L. Swine Gets even better. I as about 8 years old on the SNes of my parents. I am Dutch so the English text did not help either :/ All trial and error. Took me a long time If I remember correctly.
This is very good, but I have one criticism. Some of the songs seem to do the originals an injustice because they are too slow and somber. Simon's theme and Corneria theme are two examples. These two games are action packed and their music complement the games. In my opinion, just because it is piano does not mean it has to be made melancholic. It just makes it underwhelming. I am not thinking bad-ass vampire hunter when I listen Simon's theme here. I am thinking nothing because this slow style does not complement what I know of Simon as a character. Again this is my opinion. I may seem a little harsh, but I am an avid fan of video game music. And I often look deeper than just the music itself. But, still, very good...and your originals? Moving and emotional as heck! Keep it up!
I think the complete opposite. These are alternatives to the originals, if you want action packed then you can just listen to the originals. I don't want you to think badass vampire hunter, I want you to think I am taking a badass vampire theme and turning it into a soft piano piece. It's pretty much the whole point of doing covers of these things, I like to take things and turn them into what they aren't. Thank you Im glad you like my originals =)
Well said. As I said, it was my opinion. And being a amateur composer myself (far lower than you though), I can understand how personal preference takes precedence when writing/arranging music.
Lucas King then you're putting me to shame with my 8 years of piano. XD Well it's true i stopped playing casually due to studies ^^ but still. it's good to see that some people kept playing seriously in their life ^^
how the f##k do you even find time to make all this music???? i see a new track from you almost every day? hell I have been working everyday now for 3 weeks on one single track... Anyhow I Admire your workflow, I would do anything to be able to work as much and get as much result. keep it up !!
Yeah haha dunno I'm well practiced on piano so I can just do them quickly and rarely make mistakes when recording, so a 4 minute piece will take 4 minutes to record, the only time consuming thing is the uploading process (iMovie) which eats up a chunk of time. I very rarely need to re record or do re takes. If I had a better laptop and software I could do loads more. Someday ay =) The Originals I do are normally just an improvised piano part and I build around that with all the others instruments afterwards, so they only take about 20 minutes to do. Thanks a lot for the nice comment Axl =)
Lucas King Sounds like you need a laptop or even a desktop with more Ram, Generally that Processing eats up a huge chunk of ram. Having more ram will make the general encoding and what not to go through alot faster.
tritoch21 I actually make a living off them. It took me hours to record these, years to learn how to play piano and a lot of money for the recording equipment. That's years of my life to do what I do, you can't do 20 seconds?
You're very talented and obviously you put a lot of work into your craft. However, 14 amazing Super Nintendo songs each with their own personality and emphasis played the same way is kind of hard to sit through. No offense hopefully but playing arrangements on the piano all Adagio and Arpeggiated in the left hand is a bit cliche :/ Either way, I will support your cause and subscribe as we are in the same line of work in many ways
Yale Scores Yeah I get what you're saying it will most likely be boring to pianists and music scholars but I upload everyday, these were all improvised and most of them I hadn't actually heard before. Back when I recorded this I wasn't making anything from doing this, and my thinking was If people want well thought out arrangements that I spend loads of time on they will have to pay so that I can take time off work to do them know what I mean? Thanks for subbing though buddy, I'll check out your videos too =)
Yea I hear ya and you're probably exactly right, at the end of the day you're doing very well and id be lucky to have the success you have. Thanks for responding. Yale Scores I'm asked so many times everyday if I have sheets and I don't because I don't read or write music, but if you ever fancy doing some transcribing for some of my pieces I would definitely stick all your links in my descriptions and direct people to your channel and such. And if I ever sold them I would give you a percentage of the sales also. Up to you man no problem if you're busy. I'm always on the look out for transcribers, and ones who do it by ear are bloody hard to find.

Oh my god. The beginning was too beautiful I almost cry.

I need to play secret of mana again sometime.

Lucas King then you're putting me to shame with my 8 years of piano. XD

GREAT WORK! May lay some guitar over the top of some of your tracks, done similar thing with a castlevania cover on my channel
Nice play! but advertising in the the middle just ruins the whole thing
tritoch21 Thank you! What's it like a 10 second ad?
Lucas King Ye but also in the middle of it. 1 min adds. Its not like you are gonna make any money on it anyway so might as well remove them
tritoch21 I actually make a living off them. It took me hours to record these, years to learn how to play piano and a lot of money for the recording equipment. That's years of my life to do what I do, you can't do 20 seconds?
Lucas King If you live off ads on this I will change my name to donald duck. But I will stop now, just keep the ads. I like your play.
tritoch21 Honest mate, I have 900+ videos I make a living off my TH-cam channel.
No Earthbound :/
How about to remember the main theme of Zelda Game? Please check out this cover!!!

The forest maze is butchered imho it’s nowhere close to the right notes
"Forest Maze" was disappointing. The arrangement never takes the iconic melody to its end, it only plays with the beginning notes and then dissipates into an unrecognizable whatever.
What you've labelled as FFII and FFIII are actually FFIV and FFVI.
Also I like how you were trying to do things differently with the songs but the atmosphere for Red Wings is quite unfitting - it's meant to be sharp and with forte usually. Otherwise I like your work.
On the Super Nintendo those games *were* called FFII and FFIII.

"Big Blue" for example, I did not even recognize until I read the title in the description, because you play it sweet like sugar and way to well-behaved; the same goes for several other of these songs, too...

i wish theyd just play the goddamn tune instead of embellishing the shit out of it, we know ur talented
It's just a way of masking me not actually knowing a lot of the tunes. They were learnt and recorded in 1 day I didn't really expect many people to see it to be honest.

that makes sense. You are very good. Im stil trying to learn culex battle theme lol. I want to tackle forest maze afterwards
