Hey Roman! I just wanted to let you know how much I admire you, and how absolutely beautiful your "The Last Stand" piece is. I hope you create something else using Tyranids one day! 👾
Nerd here: Sequel X-wings like Poe's have different looking engines. One pair of cylinder engines that divide in two pairs of half-cylinder thingies when he locks his s-foils. Luke's older model X-wing has 2 pairs of cylindrical engines that make a whole lot more sense. Thanks for having me on the show guys! This was a lot of fun, I'm honored :-)
Gah I was gonna comment same thing. XD though I always wondered, how the heck does one spilt a circular turbine engine thing in two? Sends me sideways! Gotta say Brent, I learn an awful lot about just experimenting from your channel. The vid about various paint strippers does stand the test of time as a great resource. Never thought to use my background in chemistry in the way you did
Hard peppermints are straight up grandma candies....and like the boring grandma with plastic on the couch in her funny smelling apartment, not the cool grandma who buys you Super Nintendo games and lets you drink root beer at 10PM. Werthers Originals are grandpa candy. PS Brent is a national treasure and should be protected at all costs.
Loved this episode. Side note; I noticed Brent is wearing a midwinters T-shirt, the thing I love about these types of communities is the fact you painters are reaching out and promoting one another. It’s really fascinating angle on a hobby that is usually pretty isolated.
I love brents videos because he is calm and relaxed, I know that when I click a GooberTown video, I can sit back, relax, and just de-stress, I look forward to watching Brents video's to de-stress,very few other mini painters on youtube are like that, they so often have LOUD BACKGROUND MUSIC, or hyped up speed paints, or hyped up intro and outro's which I don't want when I want to relax.
Also, the only difference between click-bait and intelligent successful niche marketing is intent. If your content is good, and you're accurately attracting attention to it, your marketing game is solid. If you're putting up garbage, and you know it's garbage, but you cheat the metric to trick people into watching it....that's dirty. You guys rock, so don't feel gross about doing what it takes to get views. Trust me, we all know its worth the view.
Thanks so much for this! As a new TH-camr, it was really great to get Brent's perspective on growing a channel, particularly as it pertains to our hobby. I really love Miniac, Goobertown, and TUP, this was a great episode!
Lol, that Goobertown haul video was the first of his I watched. I actually really like seeing what kind of goodies resurface into the hands of talented painters/gamers. It makes me feel like some of these items that wouldn't otherwise see love, get to be properly appreciated. Its nice when the creator circles back and shows the after of once something has been completed. Keep up the fantastic work gentleman. Loving this podcast and each of your individual channels. I've been able to knock out 25 boyz and 10 Lootas since finding your podcast channel. I love the content and have absolutely been watching these out of order. Hope you are enjoying your quarantine and staying safe. Thank you for the many hours of incredible content.
I came here to learn new stuff about miniatures, and every other week I do learn a few things, but what I love most is your friendship, you guys can talk about anything and laugh all the time, it's contagious!! Keep up the good work!! Happy new year!
In the past i hated mondays, now i cant wait for another 1 1/2 hour podcast with Jon the Bristlemoisturer,Scott the Brushlicker and awesome guests like the UberGooberist Brent himself! Thank you for making Mondays legit again you guys. :D Back to the Nerdbunker painting stuff *swooosh*
Just did this for a flight trip to NYC where I traveled carry-on. All I needed was a GW Killteam case, paint brush roll up, TSA ziplock for paints, and a tiny little pot for water. Since I was only gone for 3 days, didn't bring a wet palette. Just tinfoil palette it like a pleb. Didn't want to risk any sculpting tools or putty! None of the TSA folks opened anything.
Straight up when I started this journey a few months back I discovered Aaron Lovejoy I spent a month looking for Zenifo highlighting because in his video that is how he pronounced zenithal priming. Also didn't get a single answer when I asked that question in their discord......for a week! I quit their patreon shortly after and found this community. #blessed Brent is either the world's most laid back mellow geek..... or a crazed serial killer with a basement full of bodies. I will sub and watch until I find out either way...lol
Holy Crap Jon! That Dragon is amazing! keep it up brother! I'm super happy you had Brent on here too. You guys are literally my favorite peoples on TH-cam.
Great episode and a wonderful interview! As someone planning on making videos in the coming year I really appreciate the advice. Keep up the excellent work.
yes Jon people are going to rip him apart in the comments..... WTF? x-wing's are a heck of a lot smaller than the Millennium Falcon.. the x-wing is like this big and the Falcon is like this big (you cant see my hand gestures but im replicating the scale exactly , trust me)
okay if i can say one thing that gobber has that helps his channel the most is his voice and obviously he good at what he does. he has such a good voice for video and radio
Since you're doing guests, you might consider seeing if you can get Andy Pieper. He's a sculptor for Reaper, Dark Sword, and several other companies, he is relatively local to you guys (south Twin Cities metro), and he's a genuinely nice person and excellent speaker.
Adam Savage is the "guy" from mythbusters boss....I love watching Goobertown hobby channel one of my favorite videos he posted recently was the deodarant stick him and a few mates had a little competition build off sooo much fun to see how everyone's mind processes diffrently
Got scared for a moment that Scott did not known about our Lord and Saviour Bob Ross. And yes Brent is as close to Ross as you can get to him in the mini painting world.
since I'm planning to launch my own channel (on a COMPLETLY different topic btw) this was very interesting. can I download this episode on any of this audio platforms you release the podcast on?
I did enjoy this video. That being said it wasn't what I expected to see when you mentioned bringing in a guest. It may just be me, but I really wanted to see Scott and Jon interact with a guest. I enjoy watching the podcast and I think it was a missed opportunity not including Jon in the interview. I think I would of enjoyed Jon's perspective on the TH-cam content creation subject. Because Jon is currently looking into making videos for TH-cam he could of asked questions that maybe a seasoned TH-camr may not have thought to ask. You did mention at the beginning of the video why you felt it wasn't a good idea to have both of you interview the guest, and I think it pretty much boiled down to you wanting the guest to be the star of the podcast episode. I completely agree, but I feel like that can be achieved while still having both of you in the interview. I would of loved to have seen you discuss what project you've been working, and the news with a guest. Scott and Jon you guys have an amazing chemistry (for lack of a better word), and it is the reason why I have watched all the Trapped Under Glass Episodes multiple times. Okie Dokie I rambled on for a bit here, but just wanted to end this way-too-long comment by saying I really do enjoy what you guys are doing on the channel. I am a fan of both Goobertown Hobbies, Miniac, Midwinter Minis, and a bunch of other miniature hobby channels. I just wanted to give my honest critique of the episode.
Cynopol some really great feedback, thank you! This was new territory for us, and definitely a learning experience. We have shot one more interview in this format, and have chatted about the pros and cons. We will not rest on our laurels!
I know the reaper learn to paint kits aren’t great, but starting with their basics and layer kits included those sweet little cases. Almost all of my mini painting gear and some minis fit in both of those cases.
The realistic Lego Man cosplay was made by special effects artist and friend of Tested's Adam Savage, Frank ipilito. He has tons of great works that could be used as reference for mini painting. He is an amzing artist and even made the prosthetics for real life Farnsworth and Zoidberg
My on the experience has been bringing wayyyy to much crap that I never touch... so it has since become one pencil box size assortment of citadel pots, eye dropper for dilution, canvas roll of brushes, water cup of sorts, and I try to limit myself to one mini per day of my travels. I usually spend 3 hrs on paining beginning to end. Still working on perfecting my travel kit
A good fun conversation. I have the funny situation of being someone who wants to better my painting skills, while having zero interest in purchasing Warhammer miniatures. I paint table top miniatures from Shadows of Brimstone. Which are not the same scale as Warhammer. But there are a LOT more people painting warhammer.
To join the Facebook group are we able to answer all questions with the singular word "Tendies" or do we also need to provide visual proof of Tendies as well?
34.10 - watch this is slow motion with the theme from Ghost playing in the background. This is young bro-love at it's finest, and Scott is just so cutely nervous at their first date! =)
Hey Jon and Scott. This is an awesome episode! I heard about you guys on Life after the Cover Save. Also, can you ask Brent if he has seen my rocks? Thanks!
interesting that he didnt mention his "FUNDAMENTALS! A Complete Guide to Painting Minis." video. That thing is on 870k views now. (but maybe it exploded only recently)
I know this was a while ago, but I just gotta get out there and say that I am probably five of the views of that canoo video. People just don't know what's good for their souls, heh. Love the interview!
From out of nowhere, I demand a blind paint tasting contest. See if you can recognize paint brand by taste only. Winner gets to eat a paint of his or her choice. (Maybe skip the last part).
When its 2022, you‘re watching old videos and hear Jon say: „this is the Final Episode of 2019“ - oh no! those poor souls… they have no idea whats coming… :O Theres some good about 2020 though, i used that time i gained due to the pandemic to get out the few 40k models i had bought in 8th edition and finally got Deep into the Hobby again After over 6.

What a fantastic t-shirt.
Midwinter Minis IK, R? Adam Sandler’s “They’re all gonna laugh at you!” is such an under appreciated sketch! 😜

I've really enjoyed Brent's vacation video.

Once again, made my morning cup all the more enjoyable...thanks sprudes!🤘🏼

Great interview. Well done guys. All the best in 2020.
Awesome podcast. Sorastro is a great channel indeed. Very educative and full of information.

Main thing I took from this episode is the idea of Chef Gordon Ramsay watching along incandescent with rage at being called a cook.
Got scared for a moment that Scott did not known about our Lord and Saviour Bob Ross. And yes Brent is as close to Ross as you can get to him in the mini painting world.
The TSA part lol you guy's cracked me up so much my model fell in the coffee cup. ☕😆
