She was a beautiful town. I am speachless. I had meetings at the first hotel and stayed at Elms Courton numerous occasions, remember when their lions went missing and later returned.
Great video and a good wee run of programmes on Ayr. You’ll need to keep posting about how much Ayr has become a sorry state and it will may be gain some traction amongst its community to no longer stand what’s happening to our town.
Great video. Very worrying video but great nonetheless the less. Love visiting Ayr for weekends and horse racing. Alas this is becoming difficult and I need off putting. Keep the updates coming on the station hotel. Truly devastating for Ayr. The residents and visitors
Thanks for watching and commenting . Fingers crossed for some improvements. Ayr has big events still happening this year. Such as the National, Air show and rave festival. It’s a awful the place looks the way it does.
I work away from ayr and live in Prestwick, many a day after travelling from S. E. England we used to go out and socialise in Ayr , since COVID everything on the social scene has changed , some pubs don't open at all, some pubs don't do food anymore, if you get somewhere with heat on that's a result, hardly seen people about , in a nutshell it's not worth going to anymore , now just socialise in the city we are in , such a pity
When I was young I used to work Ayr cattle market moving the pigs up to the sale ring ,pen after pen this is how I spent my school holidays trying to earn some money for my parents who were struggling financially really enjoyed it but sadly those days are gone and the market it’s now outside Ayr I earned 2 half crowns =5 bob and then after the market we had our dinner in the market inn .
Lived in Ayr for over 20 years and have witnessed this decline with a mixture of sadness, frustration and annoyance. There really needs to be a radical change in relation to regeneration as societal and economic changes are now no longer compatible with the town. I know other larger towns and cities have the same challenges but Ayr seems to have declined further and more rapidly compared to some. Having a definitive plan for the aftermath of the Station Hotel demolition is essential to the rejuvenation but I fear the worst with the race to the bottom in public sector spending and investment coupled with the continuous retraction of business will make this a massive challenge
I live in England and we are hoping to move to Ayr. If you think its bad I suggest you take a drive through Bradford on a summers evening. Ayr to me is a bit faded, but nothing too bad. Its ripe for redevelopment and investment. The beach is stunning. The people are friendly. My local high street is awash with kebab shops, phone repair shops and charity shops. Even the McDonalds closed down.
Strange that Ayr was grand under Strathclyde Council and when under what appears as local management it all get burnt down….the first case was just like Notre Dame - supposedly started by accident ya ken
To add to your list: Seafield House / hospital fire in 2008 and Templeton House just along the road in 2012. Both have now been restored so a more positive outcome than most others. Ayr is well on its way to claiming the spontaneous combustion crown from Glasgow.
That’s right.. Seafield house was an important one too. Thanks for pointing it out. Not versed with Templeton House tho. I’ll need to look into that one. Spontaneous combustion indeed. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
I used to visit as a kid over 30 years ago. It was picturesque and beautiful back then. The fires on a lot of old buildings are very sinister if you ask me. Old buildings are being destroyed deliberately if you ask me. I don't buy the cap excuses they give for their destruction.
It’s crazy mate. Right out of an apocalyptic video game. It’s been like that for decades. Very well hidden until drone tech. It’s amazing what u can see from above. It’s the same with your drone vids. Some amazing shots captured. 👍
I visited this June for first time since 2011. Was shocked to see how much had shut down. Still beautiful beach and view and some great walks but grim and sad. 😢
Sadly this is just going to get worse for towns like Ayr with the rise in corporate power, and Globalism focusing power in the hands of a few massive corporations, towns like Ayr are going to continue to decline as small shops are pushed under for the likes of amazon the degradation will continue maybe even ramp up.
Fire is not the problem the sitting council is the problem they are totally useless they couldn't run a bath let alone a town they have murdered the town of ayr .
Thanks. Yeah I knew it had trees in it but not quite like that. It’s got it’s own ecosystem in there. Talk about the lost world! 😮… I wonder if the un-toasted resident rats at the station have relocated there. 🤔
Saw this all unfold from afar. Neglect. Market town without markets. Very, very sad to see "The Auld Toon" burn.

Leachless..

Thanks Deano. Yeah your right. It’s a right mess. To think what it was like years ago. It’s a visual disaster!
Also the fire above World of Art on the High Street just around the corner from M&S

I grew up in Ayr, such a shame the mess of it now.

They queued down the street for high tea at the Market Inn. I remember it well.
Very sad to see what’s happened to Ayr, it was such a great place to visit and shop in not that awful long ago.
Thanks for watching and commenting. 👍
Another fantastic and informative vid Ally! Definitely think youve hit your niche...
Thanks Dayle. Some shots weren’t easy to shoot due to the awful weather of late. Fingers crossed 🤞 👍

Grew up around Ayr in the early 2000's
The absolute state it is in..
It is really grim. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Ayr is not the only seaside town in Ayrshire that is finished.
Stevenson, saltcoats and ardrossan are all in the past.
Saltcoats and Stevenson were gone decades ago.
Gone, but not smoke damaged.
There’s almost nothing left in Ayr. Major retailers are packing up and buggering off… no wonder
Your right. Matalan’s closure was announced this week. Another blow. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍

Yeah I totally agree. It does raise question..Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
My great grandfather came from Ayr. He came to America in the early 1800's.He was my mother's paternal grandfather.
Welcome to Ayr, the town of Fyre 😔🔥
Such a sad state the town is in , how this place thrived in the 80s and 90s and a shadow now of what it was.
That forest in the town inside that building bloody "last of us" eh? nature not long taking it back.mental the amount of fires going on there mate

Would it not be cheaper to build a new station further along the line ?
It's a shame to see my old home town go like this.

I used to study in Ayr and their locals are the nicest people you can find. It’s a shameful what is happening to their town…
A lot has changed. It’s very sad. Thanks for commenting. 👍

Seems obvious that Ayr Firemen are feckin useless at tackling fires.
A certain Mr Campbell has a thing for burning listed buildings.
Destroyed so much heritage about here for his own greedy houses.
it was a nice town when i was there in 1998.
Ayr was vibrant and bustling back then. Thanks for commenting 👍
police station on king Street will be next , the town is in a dire state
U could be right. It’s a matter of time. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍
The Orient
most likely will get flattened and more 'social' housing built there
Im going over june 2025. Look around. Tour a bit from America.
I'd like to play golf here.
i live here
So a man frae Glenbuck asks Ayr folk to place their bets for the next commission ‘twa laddies’ an ‘group a youths’ are gonna get….?
As William Wallace would have said. "Aye! The Barns O' Ayr burn weel!!"
I’ve got a video on that very topic coming soon. 👍

Some of them definitely make you think. Thanks for commenting amacmedia. 👍
@@LOREandEXPLORE I loved the shot over the former club at Burns Statue Square, I never knew it was like that with no roof and all those trees
Thanks. Yeah I knew it had trees in it but not quite like that. It’s got it’s own ecosystem in there. Talk about the lost world! 😮… I wonder if the un-toasted resident rats at the station have relocated there. 🤔
Had our wedding reception in the Bellisle in ‘94 and used to come down to Ayr a lot as it was always nicer than Killie. It doesn’t seem that way now.
Looks like Ayr needs educated tradesmen and not a bunch of useless bams.
Ayr is a rotten place, a poor and sad begotten place. It’s hades, hades, hades.
The world’s end is starting with Ayr.
