- This LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 is amazing. It's huge, highly detailed, has some great play features, and looks incredible on display. Today we're building the LEGO Creator Expert Ghostbusters ECTO-1, set number 10274 released in 2020. This set is priced at $199.99, contains 2352 pieces, and is suitable for ages 18+.

I bought this Lego set yesterday and I can tell you right now I won't be putting on those stickers. I've seen TH-camr's who did and now after watching your video, seeing the car without them I can say Ecto-1 without the stickers looks much more - I don't know - real, clean, representative? The rust stickers make this car look fake somehow. So thank you for your video, your opinion and your comments in said video. I loved every detail you put in your speech, including those from the movies.
Made some relatively minor modifications to make it a bit more accurate to its 1984 appearance:
Rust stickers: just didn't put them on. (I think most people buying this set won't be putting them on lol. I saved them for possible use on some custom stuff.)
This took some doing, but I moved the ladder to the right side (passenger side) of the vehicle. (This took adjusting some piece placements because of its design, and it does make the ejection seat not work quite as well since the door can't open all the way, but it makes me more satisfied with the exterior appearance.) I know it's on the left side in Afterlife but like I'm sure is the case for most people, I got it to represent the 1984 movie not the 2021 movie.
I also left off the gear tracks on the hood which I'm presuming is meant to represent hood damage, and replaced them with flat tiles.
This leaves only obvious inaccuracy the reverse opening door on the rear right of the vehicle, but I can live with that (modifying that would be a real pain and take pieces I don't have on hand lol, plus on display I have it viewed from the left anyway).
Love this set, only minor complaint I have is that since the roof is not easily removable (because of all the equipment on top) it's difficult to examine the interior detail, which is quite good. Minifigs would have been nice as well as a UCS style spec plaque, but I can live without those.
Man, you are more dedicated than me for sure! But your mod ideas are all great, and I'd also have loved a removable roof and some minifigs to display with this set.
One thing that kind of "bugs" me about the look/accuracy of this kit is the red "taillights" on the back/bottom under the fins.
I know this comment is 2 years old, but the “teeth” on the hood are to represent louvers. They were on the car in 1984 and in afterlife.

My main theory with Minifigure based ghostbusters sets I hope that they release a wave of sets when GB4 comes out next December, like what they did with Harry Potter. If they do I hope they release sets on the OG GB movies as well as the new ones

It's a great set and I've had it for 2 weeks. Soon it will be easily converted and motorized with an MOC manual. This is going to be fabulous!

by reckless_glitch "So far it looks very promising and future-proof, as it relies on the current motor system. After 20 years of abstinence from LEGO, I had to order the additional parts and motors and can hardly wait to start building. I'll give an update, when i'm done.

This is and will always be the correct decision,
One of the selling points , for me anyway, is it's almost in scale with the Hasbro Plasma Series Ghostbusters figures. They don't fit in the car but, they look good displayed along side
I'd never heard of those but just looked those up and those are some pretty good looking figures.

Yeah I did the same assuming it would sell quickly. My local Lego store did have a bunch in stock last weekend with the double VIP points active.

The manual is recreating a common car manual design here in the U.K./Europe called “Haynes Manuals”. They’re decent enough manuals for those who want to tinker with their cars and perform basic maintenance themselves, not as good as a workshop manual but good enough. Tends to be for classic cars.

It's a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor. Apparently, only 25 were ever made, 2 of which were used in the 1st and 2nd movies.

Looks a lot better without the rust stickers. I think the rust stickers makes it look too “cartoony”. So how do we convince LEGO to make the Delorean in this size?!
No rust is definitely the way to go with this set. And I can almost guarantee LEGO is trying to figure out how to make a DeLorean but who knows if it'll be possible because of licensing or whatever else.

Those both look great but I'd say Mustang. I'm also more partial to brick-built Lego vehicles over Technic, but I'll still be picking up a few of the Technic cars coming out next year.

Only thing I'm pissed off with is the instruction manual pages on mine started to come apart from the spine once I was midway through it. So disappointed.

That is a bummer, I bet LEGO would send you a new one if you contacted them. I prefer to use digital instructions for big sets like this, partially for convenience, partially to preserve the instruction books.

@@JoshBuildsStuff Haha jupp I'd say so too. It worked in the beginning but I had to take a lego block out because it was in the wrong position.. after I put the lower part back together it stopped rotating..🥲
My only complaint is that there a gap between the door windows and maybe the scratches on the windshield but that’s not legos fault that’s the people who package it but overall pretty good set.
Man, I could go on and on about scratched windows in sets these days. I've heard LEGO will send replacements if you complain but it's not worth it to me. This is still one of the best Creator sets to come our in years in my opinion.

Should I get the ECTO-1 or the Ford Mustang
Personally, I'd say ECTO-1, but I'm biased because I love the Ghostbusters franchise. If you're more of a classic car guy, go with the Mustang.

Hi Henry, I have both and it’s very difficult to say which is best. In terms of complexity to build, it’s been a while since I built the Mustang but from what I remember I’d say Ecto 1 is more complex with some very cool techniques used.
Why not both? Well I'd say the Ecto-1 if you were only going to get one, but both are great models.
I put the rust on it just because i thought it gave it character

Ok first I gave him a thumbs Up for classic ghost busters fan humer !!! Secondly what I really whould have liked with these videos is if someone whould try to fit their previous ghost busters action figures in this toy, just to see if they whould fit in the car !!! If it were me what I whould have done differently is once I spent the 200 Dallers and the 10 hours building the car, the one burning question on my mind whould be, whould my action figures fit into the car, so what I whould do is a little trial and error test by trying to fit my action figures into the car to see which ones whould fit best and then put that video out on TH-cam to at the vary least give the audience a much better idea as to weather to spend all that money on that utterly ridiculous overly expensive toy or weather to save their penny's for their overly expensive rent payments !!!
That sounds like a fantastic idea and I would totally do that... if I had any Ghostbusters action figures. I think this is a great display set for the price but I don't know that I'd choose this over paying rent, but I might consider it.

Thanks, my dude. My kids are growing up amidst my Lego collection so they're not as destructive as you'd think. But when they break something, it's just an excuse for me to spend more time building, even if it is just to repair what they broke... 😅

I thoght there are no mini-figures because this car is not in the right scale for them, it's too large.
That's true but Lego has sometimes included one or two minifigs with oversized sets in the past like UCS Star Wars sets. Could be any number of reasons in reality.
They still included minifigs in the 1989 Batmobile set despite it being bigger than minifig scale.
