I have the K6xs and it is awesome!!! Great trigger, light weight easy to carry IWB or in a pocket, handles +P ammo just fine plus it's a 6-shot, a must have if you like the j-frame size revolvers. My 5-shot snubbies have been sent to the safe.

Shooting two guns, especially two revolvers side by side, really tells you everythong you need to know as a shooter, how both feel and immediately your brain and mind get a sense of the difference. I rented a ruger lcr 22 LR to do side by side shooting with my 43c, like your comparison video a while back, and it made me know which was better choice for me right away. Both nice little light weight compact, concealed hammer, double action only revolvers aimed at carry, but the minor differences on paper are felt much more noticeably on the range. I MUCH prefer for the 43c for the extra hundred bucks
I have both K6s (3" DCR KMB-3400011) & K6xs Both are great revolvers. Changed the grips on the K6S to the Kimber Control Core grips and those grips make the .357 loads much easier & accurate to shoot. I installed the Altai wood grips from the K6s on the K6xs and they work wonderfully for pocket carry. For anyone who is interested, I just purchased a Diamondback SDR and find the trigger to be almost as good as the Kimbers- Almost!
I pocket carry everyday all day and really wanted a K6s but in the end I bought a S&W 360 PD because of the weight factor. I might consider also purchasing the K6xs but I do carry .357 Magnums in my revolver. 38 Special +P may do the job just as well but honestly the Magnums are not that bad unless of course you want to shoot 200 rounds through it at the range in one day.
Great review looking into getting the lighter model for carry s well but love the trigger. Great video as ususual been a fn and subscribed for years and you are one of the coolest guys I follow. stay safe and be blessed.
I would choose the 357 magnum, sure it's a little heavier but the fact that it makes ammunition availability so much better. I would only shoot 38 special ammunition, but the fact in crazy times you always would have the option of Magnum ammunition compatibility.
Was kinda hoping to watch you draw your weapon from the pocket holster, to see how smooth that transition is for someone comfortable using it. Know this video wasn't really about pocket holsters, so maybe in the future. Great watch otherwise, as per usual
Love it. This looks like a good EDC. My EDC is a Smith & Wesson model 327 PC with the 2 inch barrel. I would love to see you shoot this revolver. It's a beautiful revolver and very accurate. Please do a video on it. Thank you Hickock45.

Exactly. "Words mean things", as a famous individual used to say. Even non-stainless steels are nearly always alloys, with small amounts of chromium, nickel, vanadium, cobalt etc. I suppose if someone made a cast iron frame it wouldn't be an alloy, but I wouldn't want to shoot it.

The K6xs is first on my list for pocket carry. I only wish they made some sexy versions of it, like that two tone black and chrome look they had on the K6s initially.
I hated how they changed the look by fluting the cylinder, but the more I think about it, the more I think about it.. If your hands are slippery, the flutes give you something to adjust it when reloading. If you know what I'm talking about you, you know.
I don't know. Each time I look at those modern revolvers I have feeling that something is missing in them. But as a small, easy to conceal, nice option.
@@rpm2dayg648 You need to see them in person. The K6s is top draw polished and wood grips. The K6XS finish can easily hang with the 642. Also s&w does have some lookers but it will cost. I think Kimber will add two tones etc if these sell good. Whats not to like about a six shooter.
They are both great revolvers, but for the amount of money they are, I'd go with 642 smith Wesson revolver...if I'm going to my belt, I'm going with the shield or the G-43 x..Sig 365, is a nice pocket carry, for the amount of ammo you get in the Pocket.
Pocket carry is a no-go, it seems, at least for men. not out of fear, but personally, most of my jeans cause a pocket carry gun to slam and jab into my frontal dangling anatomy... I will and do pelvis IWB but the whole "hanging to the left" being left handed, large metal anything in my front left pocket just rubs me wrong.
Hello, Great Video. I am impressed and also like the lighter model without the sites to get in the way. Faster aquisition I see it. I am not terrible but you have a great squeez pull on the trigger Mister :) Thanks
By the way, Kimber says you can put k6s grips on the xs except the laser grips. I'm probably going to buy the xs for pocket carry since i'm finding it difficult to IWB carry without too much printing or fat jabbing... Thanks for this video, it really helped me decide!
The title should be "Which is a better pocket gun". But since when is life an either-or when it comes to gun choice? Why not both. I’d venture that everybody watching has multiple handguns. Here’s my experience: I have a S&W 360PD which weighs 11.8 oz’s and I use for pocket or ankle carry, and it’s perfect for those roles. It’s no fun practicing with, the 357’s are extremely snappy and most owners settle on carrying 38 +p. I also have a S&W 640 Pro which is all stainless and weighs 22 oz’s. It’s fun to practice with and can handle 125 gr 357’s fairly well. This gun is with me 75% of the time, sitting on my hip. Don’t even notice the weight. Sometimes heft is good. 99% of us do not shoot as well as Hickok. In my opinion, that’s when the extra weight is an advantage. Your follow up shots are better and you can actually carry the 125 gr 357 magnum as a self defense round. It’s all about having options. The lite guns are great pocket guns, but the heavier stainless versions feel better on the hip. If I could choose only one, I’d take the stainless because it’s more versatile. But I certainly enjoy having both options.
I can't belive you did a whole 22 minute video without a side-by-side comparison. The K6XS seems bigger to me so i could really use a direvt size comparison
I compared The K6Xs to a S&W 638 at the store the day I bought it. If you cut the base of the grip like Hitchcock45 did its basically the same height. The cylinder is .1" larger or less than 1/8" on the K6XS but you get 6 rounds. The length of the two are the same except the K6XS has a 2" barrel vs 1.875 and the Kimber has padding on the back of the grip. The boot grip is a lot fatter on the K6XS. But you can get a smaller one for like $36. In my soft armor pocket holster it fits nicely. Totally hidden. I am 5 11. The Kimber is ~ .8 ozs heavier but the 638 felt heavier? The trigger pull on the K6XS is about 9 lbs 12 ozs. My s&w 642 has an 11 1/2 lb pull but feels lighter than that. Hope this helps a little.
I carry both the 640 or 442/642 most of the time so I have to decide which of those I'll buy. I don't pocket carry, it's always on my hip either iwb or owb depending on dress and weather. I'll have to look at both and decide which one is first. Thank you for the review. One other question though, when you carry the 642 do you carry plus p ammo and which one? Thank you!!!
I really wish S&W would restart production on the 640-1 (with no internal lock). I'd buy one today! The only way to get a new 640 with no lock is the performance center 640, which won't fit in some j-frame holsters, or the engraved 640.
Speaking of revolvers, I'm hoping Mr. Hickok that you will do a video about the British Webley MkVI in .455 caliber. This is a classic military revolver of WW1 that also saw use in WW2 as well. Webley revolvers were used by the British military in various calibers & designations from 1887 to 1970. This is certainly a legendary & worthy design that deserves to be shot & reviewed by the great Hickok45. 🤠
I believe the Mk VI standard cartridge was a 265 gr. full-metal jacketed (FMJ) bullet rated at 620 fps. Anemic at best, and perhaps marginally appropriate for military use. Many would say the same about the U.S. M1 Carbine.
I carry the Walther 1960s 007 PK in .32 caliber! If it is good enough for James Bond, a top ranked assassin with license to kill, it good enough for the average job here!😊
Hickok45, as you have pointed out here and in the past, you have long carried a S&W 642 and now this Kimber. You use an Alabama Pocket holster. I have a S&W 642 and Alabama Pocket Holster, which I also like a great deal. In this video you are using an outside the waist band (OWB) Alabama Pocket Holster "pancake/flapjack" model. I'm looking for a good quality, OWB, leather holster with a thumb break for the S&W 642. Do you have any recommendations. I realize it is difficult to find the thumb break style given that the S&W 642 has the internal hammer. But I figured it anybody knew where to find one it would be you. Thanks.
The only OWB holsters I've tried for the 642 are kydex (having run into the no-thumb-break issue you mentioned with leather ones), a Blackhawk Serpa (which I liked) and a Fobus that had no retention adjustment screw (the retention was way way too tight). 4 o'clock OWB usually printed too much when I bent over, and was not ideal for driving access while belted, so I finally settled on IWB at 2 o'clock with a leather Bianchi #100 Professional for about 35 bucks. Very comfortable.
Many years ago, I purchased a Kimber K6s and it was one of those that ended up with a broken firing-pin. I returned it to Kimber and they replaced the pin. Recently I bought a Kimber K6xs and loved it until after 120 rounds of +p (and only dry-firing it using snap-caps) you guessed it, the firing-pin broke. Now, I was worried about using my original K6s with that pin Kimber replaced. I found a website that makes upgraded replacement firing-pins for the Kimber K6s and purchased a replacement pin and had it installed by a gunsmith. I now have that gun working fine and stopped worrying on the reliability factor. Because of the broken pin in the K6xs, I will be returning to purchase another pin (I will not be returning the gun to Kimber) for the K6xs. I am not the only person with a broken firing-pin on my new K6xs, there is another firing-pin break with a K6xs talked about at Buds Guns in the “community” section. I feel safer buying a new well-made pin and paying a gunsmith to put it in than trust Kimber and their firing-pins.
Viewed and take your post seriously. So I bought a TK Custom pin for backup and will shoot my KSXS moderately both in dry fire with snap caps and live rang ammo and some carry rounds as is oem before packing it. Thanks for your caveat.
@@richardkluesek4301 If you dry-fire the Kimber K6 models, only use the snap-caps with the springs in them. One of my pins broke while using the snap-caps that have a rubber type primer and after it got indented a bit the pin was going to far forward and broke.
@@Jeffreyk7 Thank you for that tip, will acquire the spring loaded primers snap caps. A Zoom with the polymer center are the most common in stores by me. Waiting for availability of the Diamondback SDR bfore buying the SADA K6. Lower price, no known mechanical issues (yet), S&W J frame round butt compatibility, and push button cylinder removal are convincing. Cheers.
The stock rubber Hogue grip that comes with the XS has that point on the bottom of the grip. How can you remove that to get your fingers under the grip to get a tighter grip?
What does it feel like compared to a Shield? Much heavier? Lighter? I used to carry a snub-nose .357 years ago, but I went to the XDS .45, then about ten years ago, I began carrying the Shield, and now I got this Shield Plus. I forgot what that .357 felt like in my pocket compared to the Shield. I can’t relate to the ounces difference.
I was the exact same way. 4 different 1911's(the Pro Carry II was the absolute worst) all had issues. So much into aftermarket parts and smithing just to get them to run reliably. I ended up getting rid of them. Ran into a K6S in my LGS/range and rented it. Threw my card so fast at the tech you'd think I was Gambit. Definitely don't regret it. It's my daily backup and sometimes my primary.

I love the XS, my favorite pistol now! I like it more than pistols with 3 x the capacity and costs! If it works, it works!
Ya, they're cool.😉
Hello, Great Video. I am impressed and also like the lighter model without the sites to get in the way. Faster aquisition I see it. I am not terrible but you have a great squeez pull on the trigger Mister :) Thanks
Cool video, your first one made me want one, this second video is having a similar effect. 😉
Mr Hickok, would the .357 be a good defense hiking revolver for moose, wild hogs and black/brown bear?
Another great video… Thank you!
Stainless is always the way to go. Quality and weight is worth it folks👍
Blue steel is good too.
Depends on the purpose of the firearm. I'm a "quality" snob, but the stainless version will likely be traded off now.
@@joelmclamore1898my blue steel SW K frame corrodes pretty bad down here in Florida.
By the way, Kimber says you can put k6s grips on the xs except the laser grips. I'm probably going to buy the xs for pocket carry since i'm finding it difficult to IWB carry without too much printing or fat jabbing... Thanks for this video, it really helped me decide!
Excellent info video)
The title should be "Which is a better pocket gun".
But since when is life an either-or when it comes to gun choice?
Why not both. I’d venture that everybody watching has multiple handguns.
Here’s my experience:
I have a S&W 360PD which weighs 11.8 oz’s and I use for pocket or ankle carry, and it’s perfect for those roles.
💓💓💓Love Revolver Guns
I agree. It would be good to get an American perspective on this classic revolver of the British Empire.
I remember hickok saying in a video a while back that they had a Webley but had issues with it and didn't do a video. If I rememeber right
I believe the Mk VI standard cartridge was a 265 gr. full-metal jacketed (FMJ) bullet rated at 620 fps.
Cheers.
Hickock is the old man you don't want to FW
The stock rubber Hogue grip that comes with the XS has that point on the bottom of the grip. How can you remove that to get your fingers under the grip to get a tighter grip?
The grip on the K6 will fit and you can cut it off like Hitchcock did.
I agree with you … I am now the proud owner 😊
What does it feel like compared to a Shield? Much heavier? Lighter? I used to carry a snub-nose .357 years ago, but I went to the XDS .45, then about ten years ago, I began carrying the Shield, and now I got this Shield Plus. I forgot what that .357 felt like in my pocket compared to the Shield. I can’t relate to the ounces difference.
Sadly, my first experience with Kimber was bad and would never buy another Kimber.
What are your thoughts on the grips…seems like the heavier one has smaller grips than the lighter one? Are the grips stock?
If the stainless K6s had a longer barrel, it would be a great gun for da fence.
They make 3 inch 4 inch etc
@@MR.IceCreamMan93 ya but, I want to see John use it for da fence!
Thanks you helped me make my Decision
I carry a 2.5” S&W 686+ in my pants pocket, and on the hip. 🤷🏼👍
🤟💥☆K6XS☆💥🤟
When are you going to try a Steyr Scout Rifle?
On the fence about this or the Rossi RP63 (please review it)
Well, looks like im going to be owning a kimber revolver here real soon. That alloy k6xs is sweet. I wonder how much they go for?
See alot now at $620. Get what you want. The cost of the competition is not much difference. Besides ammo is what's going to cost you.
Would you please do a review on the Kimber stainless raptor 2 in 45?
