  • Ninjago has certainly lasted a long while, like a really long while, making me believe this entire thing is just a money laundering scheme. But did you know that Ninjago actually has not 1, and not even just 2 endings, but 3 separate days that it died

    i've heard that SotFS was always planned, but March of The Oni in fact not - only later in developement they wanted to have an trilogy. Because of MotO, s11 just got smaller budget. So pretty much MotO wasn't meant to be the attempted series finale, they also had to slightly change Hunted in it's favor (which iirc Tommy stated before, that Hunted last episodes got rewritten for undisclosed reasons)

    Funnily enough when I grew up with the show and the sets, I always saw the end of Season 2 as the proper ending. It ended on such a perfect note, and though I found rebooted cool due to Chima fatigue, it didn't feel like the same show anymore. Season 3 was when I stopped mostly because of airing schedule issues and a growing lack of interest. I've heard Possession, Master of The Mountain, and Seabound are good though so I might just view them by themselves since most of the Season stories are self contained.

    • @BlazinInfernape
      @BlazinInfernape 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Those specifically are the three seasons you've heard are good? From what I know, which I'll clarify isn't a lot, the general consensus is Seasons 4-6 (Tournament of Elements, Posession, Skybound) are all great and a clear hot streak for Ninjago, the Oni Trilogy (Seasons 8-10) started off strong with Sons of Garmadon, the single best season in the whole show, and might have tapered off over the course of Hunted and March of the Oni but still stands as the best single story, and seasons 13 and 14 (Master of the Mountain and Seabound) are the best that the Wildbrain era has to offer, where Ninjago caught its stride again after the multiple behind-the-scenes changes left it kinda diisheveled at first. Statistically speaking, seasons 4, 5, 8, and 14 are probably your best shot.
      For my opinion, I think everything in WilFilm's production is worth watching, and everything after is just not nearly as compelling. I've got free time, so here's my pretty spoiler-less opinions of those seasons if you're interested:
      The pilot to Legacy of the Green Ninja era shows its age but is overall a great heroic story about the corruption of evil and how good can come from anywhere.
      Rebooted gets a lot of flak but I loved how it handled the responsibility Lloyd had to the golden power and the technology vs humanity ideas, almost every little detail was in service of these themes and the idea of balance underscored it all very nicely.
      Tournament of Elements was the one season that I'd say made character development look stupidly easy, giving everyone in a large cast of characters a chance to shine and forcing every single one to face their inner fears in one way or another.
      Posession is the first one to really distance itself from the original storyline, using Nya to tell a story about not succumbing to failure and Morrow as a foil character that couldn't accept how Destiny had different plans for him.
      Skybound is probably my least favorite WilFilm season but it gave Jay much needed character development through a story all about what it means to love, and giving him and Nya's relationship a makeover that made it infinitely more healthy and less "high school teen"-y than before.
      Hands of Time is also very much disliked due to being rushed out, but I think pacing and dialoge problems arent as bad as other people say, and the story was the most compelling one so far at the time, it's both a story of atoning for your past mistakes and recognizing that they don't define you, especially felt by Wu and Kai.
      Frankly, I think the Oni Trilogy is just all around amazing. It's all about how anyone can change, both for the worse and for the better, ending on the latter of the two. March of the Oni is actually my favorite, it uses only four episodes and focuses on this deeply personal story with trauma and betrayal on one end and a seemingly hopeless search for inner humanity on the other. If nothing else, these three seasons are what i'd recommend watching, I'd say they're peak Ninjago and probably wont ever be topped.

    As much as I love the show and have been one of the fans that have grown up with it, I think DR should have maybe 4-5 more seasons after S2, then the franchise should completely end. It’s gone on for so long and I think that would give everyone enough time to be satisfied and the writers to have enough time to write out a good story.
    All of the said endings (no pun intended lmao) from S2 and I think S5 was an ending point too, to S7, 10, Crystalized, there’s enough lore while adding new lore, to wrap up DR in 6-7 seasons

    This is a great video but it’s not really accurate. A story that’s a natural ending that was never at any point intended to end the franchise isn’t ‘Ninjago died’ like the same year as March of the Oni we got THIRTY episodes, the development time on one season is over a year, I believe recently it was said to be almost 2 (2026-7 in concept phases right now for example). Having thirty episodes the next year makes it clear it was never meant to be an end.
    Same goes for Crystalized, they told us *immediately* that a new show was coming and that it’s not the end of the continuity we’ve come to love and treasure, and less then a year later, 20 episodes that’s even more runtime than the 30 in 2019.

    • @BlazinInfernape
      @BlazinInfernape 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I might be remembering wrong since I was a little dumb child at the time, but I thought that the original "ending," like intended by Lego to be the ending, was with Rebooted, since shows often weren't expected to run past three seasons. The Overlord coming back, (and frankly I think that was all the show could ever need of him, thanks Crystalized) ending on a character death, themes of balance, seems to me at least like an intentional ending rather than a natural ending.

    • @WordsOfTheTeacher
      @WordsOfTheTeacher 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BlazinInfernape No... quite the opposite lol, rebooted was the restart after the ending at season 2. It's literally called REBOOTED my guy, it's shorter, it reuses an old villain, it clearly was produced as an unplanned continuation on short notice

    • @BlazinInfernape
      @BlazinInfernape 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WordsOfTheTeacher Resusing the overlord was my point though. If they're expecting season 3 to be the end and need to find a way to end the story of the pilot and previous two seasons. Why bother making a new villian when you can tie it in to that plot by reusing the "ultimate evil" of the last season and using that to explore what it means for Lloyd to be this sort of "ultimate good." After that, end on a climactic character death because it's not like you'll ever need to do the work to justify reviving him, (until they did, at least) and end with a speech about balance. Use a shorter runtime so it functions a bit more like an epilogue of sorts, March of the Oni did the same thing, after all. I truly think a stortelling argument supports sesason 3 being the ending, though I was able to find the actual quote where Tommy Andreasen said it was supposed to end with season 2, so it seems "me rememebering wrong" was the correct assumption for me to make. I did find other people who've said they heard before that season 3 was supposed to be the end like I did, so I'm confident it was at least some sort of rumor going around at the time.

    • @WordsOfTheTeacher
      @WordsOfTheTeacher 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@BlazinInfernape You can discuss all you want but it is documented, proven fact that the show was planned to end on season 2. Fan reaction prompted a revival and Rebooted was rushed, first envisioned as only 2 episodes and then stretched into 8 spaced over an entire year erratically releasing in pairs. They tactlessly revived the ultimate bad guy for lack of time to invent anything new, and you do realize Zane was confirmed alive in the SAME episode he died in right? The thing where Pixal goes to the factory after hearing his voice? He was NEVER going to be killed off and they always intended to roll season 3 into a continuing story since the show had just been revived. You can say all day long that from another perspective season 3 looks like it could have been an ending, sure, but the ultimate fact of the matter is we know with absolute certainty that is not actually the reality we live in. Rebooted was a REBOOT of the show, the first season of the continuation

    • @BlazinInfernape
      @BlazinInfernape 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@WordsOfTheTeacher First of all I literally said you were right and I was remembering something incorrectly or I was remembering a rumor that was never correct in the first place. I found an article for the 10 year anniversary through the wayback machine where Tommy Andreasen said as such, though it took me a while to get there since nobody ever tells me who says these things. What I claim to remember literally comes from when I was 7, spending time on the family computer on Ninjago forums before season 3 came out, when the next season being about robots was just a rumor and not confirmed yet. I never paid attention to any online discourse since, and I'm not claiming to know anything else. Like I already said, I did the research, I learned that I was wrong and you were right, were you waiting for me to say that word for word or something? I never interpereted the ending as Zane being confirmed alive, but more alive in spirit, being paralleled to the Overlord as being inside the Borg tower's systems. I never knew anything about Rebooted's production, and I clearly interpereted the season differently than you, uhh my bad I guess.
