A proper divergence trading strategy is based on your knowledge of 4 different types of divergences. In this divergence trading strategy video I will teach you how to identify the following:
    Normal Bullish divergence
    Normal Bearish divergence
    Hidden Bullish Divergence
    And a Hidden Bearish divergence.

Divergences are used by traders in an attempt to determine if a trend is getting weaker, which may lead to a trend reversal or continuation.
Before you head out there and start looking for potential divergences, here are nine cool rules for trading divergences.
In order for a divergence to exist, the price must have either formed one of the following:
Higher high than the previous high
Lower low than the previous low
    Double Top
    Double Bottom
Don’t even bother looking at an indicator unless ONE of these four price scenarios has occurred.
If not, you ain’t trading a divergence, buddy.
You’re just imagining things. Immediately go see your optometrist and get some new glasses.
Divergence Trading Rule #1: YesThere must be extreme highs and lows
Divergence Trading Rule #1: NoDivergences do not work in ranging markets
    2. Draw lines on successive tops and bottoms
Okay now that you got some action (recent price action that is), look at it.
Now draw a line backward from that high or low to the previous high or low. It HAS to be on successive major tops/bottom.
    3. Connect TOPS and BOTTOMS only
Once you see two swing highs are established, you connect the TOPS.
If two lows are made, you connect the BOTTOMS.
Divergence Trading Rule #3: Connect successive tops or bottoms only
Divergence Trading Rule #3: Divergences do not work in ranging markets
    4. Keep Your Eyes on the Price
So you’ve connected either two tops or two bottoms with a trend line.
Whichever indicator you use, remember you are comparing its TOPS or BOTTOMS.
Divergence Trading Rule #4: Focus on tops and bottoms
    5. Be Consistent With Your Swing Highs and Lows
If you draw a line connecting two highs on price, you MUST draw a line connecting the two highs on the indicator as well. Ditto for lows also.
If you draw a line connecting two lows on price, you MUST draw a line connecting two lows on the indicator. They have to match!

Thanks a lot for providing such knowledge. But sorry to say that, this is not the full knowledge. Prior to the Bearish Divergence you shown there was another Bearish Divergence you marked on the chart but you ignored to discuss on it. Simply saying you can rarely see a Bullish Divergence in a Bull Market and the vice-versa. I mean to say you should make it clear that a wise idea to trade the Bear market (when Bullish Divergence is/are seen) is to wait for a Hidden Bearish Divergence and the vice-versa. And from my 13 years of experience in Intra Day trading what I have learnt is that more than 70% of time trader will make profit. Bearish Divergence on a chart hints us that market is Bullish and vice-versa. Yes, the way you described to trade the divergence is a counter trend trading strategy against the TREND but position should be squared off promptly on the appearance of a Hidden Divergence. And that’s all. Thank you gentleman. Live long and keep on doing fair works.

I have a question about how to close the trade at 90% and how to move the stop loss for the remaining 10% into profit to make it a 100% risk free trade. Thanks so much for creating this amazing tutorials they have been so helpful for me.

Hey Arty (hope I spelled that right!), just found your channel last week and I've been absolutely gobbling up your content; LOVE the way you teach!
I felt like I had a pretty good grasp of divergences (again, thanks to you), but on rewatching this video a few times, I see a few things that confuse me. At 2:56, you start circling the lower lows. Can you help me understand why the second circled low and third circled low aren't also a tradeable divergence (that I would have potentially looked to trade live and taken a loss not having had the benefit of seeing what comes next).
And again at 4:38, it looks to me (and my untrained eyes) that the higher high you circled and the previous high were also a divergence. Subquestion: are you looking at highs of closed candles or true highs of wicks? (If it's wicks, then my previous question is about the two higher highs before your circled high)

I’m confused. The set up for both divergence strategies is the exact same, yet you predict the price to move in opposite ways.
As I’m understanding it in the first style: if the PRICE is moving down, but RSI diverges UP, you can expect a reversal, and should long upon rejection.
As for the second “hidden divergence” style: if the PRICE is moving DOWN, and the RSI diverges UP, then in this case you should continue trading with the trend and should short upon rejection?
Can someone explain? Are you basically trading the rejection either way whenever the RSI diverges?

Just a quick question regarding the first regular bullish divergence you have shown and false signals.
Could we consider the situation at about 10:00am on May 12th as a point of divergence as well? Two consecutive lower lows, the RSI bottom lows are increasing, two "good" green candles in a row and the price is crossing the trend line (maybe I have drawn a wrong trend line on the price action that reach that point!)
    Am I missing something?
    Thank you!

    Thank you for the video!
I am however a little confused even after watching it 5 times now! 😮‍💨
How do we know if it’s going to be a regular or a hidden divergence before it’s played out if the same rules apply to both?
We’re following the trend looking for a reversal in the regular, and following the trend looking for a continuation in the hidden.
the only difference I am seeing is the two small rejection candles Indicating the reversal Vs the one large rejection candle for continuation, is this the signal we are looking to pair with the change in momentum on the RSI to identify what divergence is about to play out?
    Many thanks!

I noticed in your first examples for regular bullish/bearish divergence that there appear to also be divergence on previous highs and lows. I haven't finished the video, but I wanted to ask: what makes those moot, and the ones you pointed out important?
Thank you for the amazing courses you off for free!! You are the best!

Wanna start of saying, your content is extremely clear and understandable, i've been paper trading for about 7 months now, with the first few months being "dumb" speculation and come across a whole lot of youtube channels with really drawn out videos explaining what you just did in about 40 minutes, causing my brain to get seriously bored and loosing concentration. I don't have that problem here, thanks !

    Hi Sir,
Huge respect for this all great teachings and lessons.
I humbly request to you to clear one doubt -
if positive divergence take place and price is below 200 MA, then can we go for long position
    Or
If negative divergence takes place and price is above 200MA, then to we can go for short position.
Second question is that if divergence takes place then we can jump into trade immediately or should wait for Engulfing candle.
Awaiting for your valuable response and guidance.

Hmm and what about the divergence just two lower lows before? (until min. 4:31) Just above your text "regular bullish divergence".. the RSI states the second lower low as a higher low ... so according to your strategy I should have made a buy trade? Would be nice if you could explain why it's different there ...

ah. Divergences are a good old strategy but it's full of 'weak signals'. you have to manage that. If you look at your 3:12 minute (approx) you can see another reg div on the previous LL , just above where you type 'regular bullish divergence'. in real time trading that should be a signal (real world, real time. not a past chart), and price yes, reverse, but only for another LH. so how can you spot the real bottom? charts are full of divergencies with price against.

That was brilliant thanks, gonna pop the RSI on … been using stochastic, but its less clear yes ive been finding divergences great … ive been extending the TL and finding that often price will respect it … but at turnaround key area, it gets to be quite a mesh of lines … finding GU at mo is stuck between divergence support and rsistance … have you tried this, does it work for you. How do you manage the swamp of lines? Ive found that even the 15m hidden divergences van become quite important … would appreciate your thought … cheers

Hi, thanks for your videos. I have a question, for the first example it also had a divergence between the 2 last lows on yellow circles and the RSI, why didn't you take those as the divergence? Is it because it doesn't have the 2nd green candle for confirmation?
Also, do this strategy works for trading stocks? I would really appreciate your reply. Thanks again for all the content you put out.
