The moving average crossover is one of the most common strategies used by day traders. However the moving average crossover is one of the worst ways to find your entry for your trade. In this video I'm going to show you how to actually use a moving average crossover, as well as show you how to find an entry well before any moving averages actually cross over actually happens. Getting you more profit for each trade.

The moving average (MA) is a simple technical analysis tool that smooths out price data by creating a constantly updated average price. The average is taken over a specific period of time, like 10 days, 20 minutes, 30 weeks or any time period the trader chooses. There are advantages to using a moving average in your trading, as well as options on what type of moving average to use. Moving average strategies are also popular and can be tailored to any time frame, suiting both long-term investors and short-term traders.
    KEY TAKEAWAYS
A moving average (MA) is a widely used technical indicator that smooths out price trends by filtering out the “noise” from random short-term price fluctuations.
Moving averages can be constructed in several different ways, and employ different numbers of days for the averaging interval.
The most common applications of moving averages are to identify trend direction and to determine support and resistance levels.
While moving averages are useful enough on their own, they also form the basis for other technical indicators such as the moving average convergence divergence (MACD).
    Why Use a Moving Average
A moving average helps cut down the amount of "noise" on a price chart. Look at the direction of the moving average to get a basic idea of which way the price is moving.
As a general guideline, if the price is above a moving average, the trend is up. If the price is below a moving average, the trend is down.

I started to learn how to trade mid-last year after close to 2 decades in diplomacy and IR. Let's say my trading foundations were somewhat shaky and a lot of important lessons learned from the other teachers (with a YT channel). I'd earlier seen your channel but never really felt I wanted to add yet another teacher...Since early this year, I've had a change of mindset, wanting to find a clear system and your channel popped up again. Using your indicators on top of my horizontals, S&R, S&D zones and it's working like magic!! Thank you for your passionate and engaging teachings.

Yep you are right sir. Ema cross overs are too late and it's a lagging indicator as compared to the price action. Higher period EMAs must be used only to know the trend direction coz lower period EMA are fast to react and often give false signal. Thankyou always Sir for the quality content. I stopped trading after blowing out my account entirely. Now came back again learning everything from my past blunders and reminded of a great teacher whom I used to watch frequently before.❤

This crossover video is valid EXCEPT for when I use your strategies with the 3 and the 9 EMA crossover. LITERALLY, the 3 over the 9 crossover (above/below the 21 EMA when trending with the higher EMAs) helps your entry point and allows you to then focus on your candle strategy (3 stripes and/or big ass candle). Then, the 21 EMA can gauge whether to exit or just use it as a trailing stop-loss point. Your free indicator usually gives me the green light to enter the trade at the same points as this combined strategy. THANKS for your expert tutelage! Your awesome insight has helped me to tweak for sniper entries, MAXIMIZE my TP, and have a really tight SL that are consistently profitable...$750-$900 a day! It's very simple, moving averages BY DEFINITION are lagging indicators with absolutely no predictive power. They will never tell you whether a market is consolidating or trending. In a consolidating market, which can last YEARS, moving averages are not respected and will give you a hard time with tons of bad signals.

It used to drive me crazy when they would say this,”it works until it doesn’t.” Which really means, the market is always changing, you must figure out how to change with it…… Hint…. Take trades from higher time frames. So that the manipulators cannot fool you. Because the market….. is manipulated, no matter who says that it is not. It is……

Thanks for the video. I just wanted to add one more thing : The timeframe and the product play a huge role in how the ema’s and crosses are showed/work on the chart. Choosing the right timeframe is therefore very essential. My favourite is the two hour timeframe combined with a 10+20/50 ema cross (which essentially is the same as the Gubby ema) combined with absolute strength convergence/divergence, candle/volume analysis and reversal patterns/candles for confluence.

Sir in the past so many of your videos, you have focused on MA crossovers to take the trades. And now this video.
We are confused what to follow.. 🙏

    • @TheMovingAverage

If you really pay attention to my previous videos on moving average crossovers I always say to wait for the cross to happen then come down to retest then enter. This video shows you how to get in way before it's a trend reversal video not a moving average crossover video

@@TheMovingAverage 1:12 Let’s see if you would respond to my comment.
8:07 You are clearly demonstrating a trend reversal using candlestick patterns and the trendline breakout, but these alone are not confirmation of a true trend reversal.... It could be just another false breakout..... To confirm a true trend reversal, I would:
      (1) Wait for the candlestick to close above the moving average.
      (2) Followed by the breakout of the highs of the double bottom candlestick pattern which was used as a line of support.
      (3) Price made a pullback which was a retest of support.
      (4) Then you enter a long position after the retest.
An entry at the break of the trendline below the moving average is like “jumping the gun.”
You always advise against counter trend trading on your TH-cam channel, even if you got a signal from a candlestick pattern.

Why would someone want to enter before the crossing of averages? For having more profit? Because its sure, entering before a crossing is riskier than entering after a crossing.

What you ask at @1:00, I do not know / have not experienced as we just started on this. However, as the initial test reports tell me, 11/13 (10 of them CONSEQUETIVE) of the trades, based on 21 SMA/EMA crossovers were profitable. Yes, I completely agree with you that there was StopLoss worries but in our case, not all the crossovers were bought, immediately; OI played a huge role in decision making.
But, yes, I generally agree with almost that is said in this video.
"Most of the move has ALREADY happened" and that is my biggest grouse.
However, in today's volatile scenario in India (and, I am sure, elsewhere) even those late entries have given me up-to 2x returns whereas the beginning would/might have given 3-4x.

This video actually covered the things si have been struggling with- 50/200 c/over.......20/50 c/over....macd c/over.......realised they get in late and have been looking for a way to get in early and get into a reliable strong price move trade- in crypto.......the only time i have found the macd to signal a reliabel trade is when teh strong reversal hits- and how do we know when its going reverse in strength- use support / resistence levels and draw in trend lines- and watch for the big ass candles to close above trend lines and support hahaha showing us in living color price is reversing......get in now.......i like this because - as i look at a chart and see the MA's converge- then they dont cross i think i just wasted my time watching- well doing it this way is faster than waiting- draw in s/r lines and trend lines- banmmo, takes less than 2 minutes and thr trend is going to give itself up before any of the 3 c/overs- at that point i can get in the market or look for another option................another of the big issues is that i work during teh day, so i miss most of teh best price action, weekends normally are not that great, but maybe tonight.....something willl move. thank Arty, what a great video, thank you for sharingyour experience!

If you looking for a very good alert system then have a look at 20 LSMA crossing the 200 SMA on the 5 min chart.. helps spot both up and down trends about to start or a continuation... obviously don't just jump in as it's not a buy or sell signal it's simply a very good pay attention signal and next few candles will be the time to enter the market.... been searching for best alerts as so many ideas just have too many alarms with irrelevant action... this cross and alert mostly means something worthwhile is about to happen... but only 1 or 2 a day or less...unless of course a ridiculously tight range day....

if im honest, i just have bad luck. i follow everything you say down to a T. the trend is up in every way possible. even the divergence strategy points up. the moment i enter, it does a sideways trend then just drops and this is every time i enter. the moment it all shows that it is bearish, i enter and it just goes up

MA 200 is very late entry for sure and personally i dont use it unlike smaller period like 9 MA and 21 MA, they giving early entry signals and catch the trend which i like. MA crossover does not work in ranging markets, it works in trending markets.
