    Here Is The Welder I Used ➤ amzn.to/3YAd1Tg
    Slotted welding table build, part 2
    This is how I made a slotted welding table.
    2 1/2" square tubing, 1" x 3" rectangle tubing, 5" casters.
    All tubing is .120 wall
    Steel Max chop saw, Lincoln 140C welder
    The table top is 75 x 42 inches & 36 inches tall.
    This would also be great for a fabrication table. To make sure the top is dead flat, make sure the top frame is dead flat. Tack weld all top pieces in a cross pattern, then weld solid.

    When you have a lot of metal prep/sanding to do I recommend a flap disk. They make it so much more quicker! Also take a weld down really well too

    Great job.....enjoyed the build and process. Thanks for posting.
    I’m not one to mention the obvious nor bang on about safety but a few years ago I got the MIG bug and built a gate....not too far from my garage. Was rather perturbed to find a couple of scorches and a spatter on my paintwork of my cabriolet. Still giving me the pips whenever I see them.

    Question for anyone who has experience with tables that have top surfaces with tube steel vs plate steel: Whats the advantage or disadvantage of either? Is there any difference in heat dispersion or warping? I would think that during the welding process on a tube table like this that if you had individual tubes heating up more than the others that those would warp and throw off your level. Rather than plate steel which would disperse heat more evenly. Anyone?

    • @leslieaustin151
      @leslieaustin151 ปีที่แล้ว

      This may be too late, but.... I have a small tube-topped table which works well. It’s only 500x500mm (20”x20”). However my comment applies more the bigger you go. Don’t weld as here, on top of the frame. You can see that as he goes further up the table and clamps one end of the cross tube the other end goes up in the air to a higher degree. That can’t be good! Either the two sides are not level with each other along the table length or one tube has twist in it. This must surely bow the centre of the table upwards as it stresses the cross-tubes. It might also mean this table is twisted along its length. Not much, but enough to make it “not flat”. Watch Ca Lem’s video on making a welding table and see how to do it right. He puts the table top on a flat surface and stands the frame upside down on it. That keeps the top flat while you weld it. Hope you built a good table! Les in UK PS, not noticed any warpage on mine. I also have a thin plate topped table, and that DOES warp with heat. Les

    First of all great work, Tabel looks fantastic.
    I have a question though. What advantage does this type of table have over a table with a sheet metal/ thick plate top? Is this table designed to be used with clamps of some kind?

    • @Yashiro-nene_dies
      @Yashiro-nene_dies 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      the spacing allows to fit regular clamps anywhere on the table to clamp down parts, instead of welding clamps and grinding of welds and tacks when your done.

      Slotted welding table build, part 2 This is how I made a slotted welding table.
      NOTE: 25.4 mm per inch You will have to adjust for your local metric steel sizes available because we do not use metric in the U.S. 2 1/2" square tubing (63.5 mm)
      1" x 3" rectangle tubing, (25.4 mm x 76.3 mm)
      5" casters. (127 mm)
      All tubing is .120 wall (3.048 mm)
      Steel Max chop saw (carbide cold saw)
      Lincoln 140C welder (140amp MIG with Argon 75% - Carbon Dioxide 25% shielding gas) The table top is 75 x 42 inches & 36 inches tall (1905 mm length x 1066.8 mm width x 914.4 mm tall) No thickness is listed for the shelf material but does not appear to be over 1/8 inch (3.048 mm)
