Inveraray takes Piping and Drumming titles at the European Pipe Band Championships in Inverness

The competitions took place on Saturday, 25 June 2022 and were organised by the Royal Scottish Pipe Band Association and LCC Live.
The competition judges for Grade One were:
Robert Mathieson, piping
John Wilson, piping
David Brown, drumming
Donald MacPhee, ensemble
The weather was hot and sunny but the strong and blustery wind was problematic for sound recording.

Drum corps is absolutely untouchable this year.
Outstanding recording, outstanding medley, outstanding drum corps,outstanding tone,outstanding band. Congrats to Stuart and my bud Kegan as well as Andrew...well done boys!
Stuart and his team construct medleys as if they were writing for a choir - this is just a sublime arrangement and playing from beginning to end, early chanter notwithstanding, I'm not surprised it won.
It's perhaps redundant to comment on the sound quality at this point, dronechorus, but the various cellphone recordings I've heard from last weekend have a significant amount of wind noise. In true form, this sounds like it could have been made by the BBC! Thanks for posting these, as always. I'm now going to listen to this about half a dozen more times.

Stuarts medleys are just incredible. I don't think this was the winning performance however but the judges are the pros. I love when they get into their flow it's music to the ears. Musically outstanding.

Thanks for yous vidéos ! its great and superbe !and just for "the early E" !! it's not even one second on the whole set of the medley and the rest is brilliant ! we don't downgrade just for an "early E" i think;

I'm genuinely astounded they won with that early E... but in fairness, I'm not qualified to judge. It was lovely otherwise. Well done.
early chanter isn't the be all and end all in grade 1
@@connoro8610 agreed, but its like a penalty within the first 10 seconds in football... hard to recover and no one forgets it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if they just didn’t hear it, it’s easy to miss depending on where you’re standing.
@@TechnicalSika yes an early E and a bad strike in could make or brake a band, however the medley itself is too good lol
No wonder the judge missed the early E, he was too busy taking photographs it seems! Must be a fan!

that's just old fashion, the whole performance more than makes up for it
@@MJFPiping 🤷🏻♂️ guess it’s alright to make a mistake too, you know as long as the rest of the performance is great.
I've been listening to some of the other bands, and while the early chanter was bad, the tuning of this band was tighter and held better than the other competitors, save fmm. In comparison, the early E is better than off drones
the judging this year is HORRENDOUS.
