WOW! You two really did your homework to give us all the facts! That was fun and interesting! I like the reenactments Keith🤠 You both look like you had a lot of fun! Thanks for sharing with us!😊
Glad you enjoyed it! This was a really fun little project for us, and Keith was a good sport despite the fact that the capitol building was really crowded when we visited, lol! Thanks for watching! 😊
The part that they filmed about the Hallettsville Courthouse is in my hometown I live right down the road in a smaller town today but I remember when this movie was being made I got to meet Burt Reynolds Dom DeLuise and of course Gomer Pyle
It's such a great movie, and totally under-appreciated for some reason. I don't know if it's taboo or what, but it seems to be practically forgotten. We're happy to share some appreciation for this classic. THANKS!!
Loved this clip. Just watched the movie. I live in PFLUGERVILLE not far from the house used in the movie. Also one of my good friends is holding 2 rolls of paper in the capitol rotunda as Durning looks down over the balcony.
I always liked Queen Anne Victorian style houses mainly because of the Chicken Ranch. 12 year old me had a crush on Dolly Parton in 1982 because of this movie, we only had one theatre in town and this movie played for 2 months, I saw it 5 or 6 times.
Nice! It truly is a beautiful house, recently restored in 2018. Ahh, remember the good old days when we didn't have a gazillion movies to choose from at any given time?! Yet somehow it was better, sigh. We're big Dolly fans, she's an absolute gem. Thanks for watching our video!
@@Our80sLife I still know the lyrics to every song, Charles Durning's Sidestep still makes me laugh and it's as relevant today in Texas politics as it was in 1982.
i remember that movie...wait base on a real story??? i didnt know that!! i must look it up after watching the whole video first!! everything looks awesome that you shared...your hubby dancing...lol that was cute and funny!! wonderful building and pictures!! ya i agree, it look like the fountain was permanently there!! so awesome that you went there!! you guys are soooo lucky!! you travel and see fantastic places all the time!! thanks for letting us see them!! take care guys!!
Yes! Look up the Chicken Ranch in La Grange, it’s a fascinating story! You should also watch clips of Marvin Zindler, he was quite a character. The clip of him on the David Letterman show is hilarious! Glad you enjoyed our video. We had lots of fun making it 😊
Loved it guys! I totally loved that movie! The title kinda threw me off and I didn't want to go but I don't think I ever laughed so hard and I LOVE to laugh 😆. Durning's dancing deserved the nomination. Especially his hat. Margaret and I tried to do it and just ended up in pain
Thanks Donna!! I'm sure you can tell we had a lot of fun making this one! We agree, the movie is hilarious- such a classic (and in our opinion, under appreciated.) Durning's little number and that thing he does with his hat is our favorite part! But we never tried it ourselves, lol!
I remember my dad and uncles saying Dolly was from the mountains and loved them so much, she brought them everywhere she went. I was about 9 or 10 when I heard that and instinctively knew what they were talking about. Dolly always had some nice attributes. 😉
My mother, older sister and myself rented this on VHS and a VCR back in 1983. I was only 12 years old at the time and was kicked out of the room about 15 minutes into the movie. To this day, I have no idea what happens.
I didn´t know the movie, but I love when you do filming locations. I like American countryside. One day I have to travel the US. I think and dream all of my life about USA.
Hey Bernhard, thanks for stopping by! We truly hope you get to visit the USA some day, and we'd certainly love to meet you when you do! You should definitely watch this movie, it's a great show and the music is absolutely wonderful!
You are correct! It's fun to visit the movie studios and see familiar houses like that, which have been used in so many different films and TV shows over the years. It was also used in Father's Day (1997) and more recently in The Ghost Whisperer.

LOL!! 😆Despite the taboo subject, it's actually a really great movie! We think you're old enough to handle the adult jokes by now, ha ha!

Such a great song, and truly all of the music from this movie is fantastic! 😊
It still blows my mind that rob zombie used that house for house of 1000 corpses.
