I grew up in Gloucester & I'm back for good! If you were in the Coast Guard thanks for serving. I'm a Navy brat (both Dad & Ma served, Dad for 25 yrs) & my nephew just retired from the Coast Guard after 25 yrs. The Cape Ann Brewery closed up - before COVID-19.
Gloucester is such an amazing place. I wish I still lived there. It was incredible. Also sad to hear about the Cape Ann Brewery. Hard to believe. That place was packed! And the beer was soooo good

Most of us who grew up there have our favorite rides we take around the Cape Ann. Mine usually begins with coffee from Dunkies and a donut. I like to park on state fish pier for a bit and watch the boating activity. From there I start around East Gloucester and always go through Rocky Neck where I spent my earliest years watching horseshoe crabs in the water from the sidewalk by the Studio. As children we looked over the shoulders of many artists painting in the good weather.

And there are a few other beaches in Gloucester: Pavilion, Half Moon. Cressey's, Magnolia, Plum Cove (and 3 considered private for residents of the neighborhoods ie Brace Cove on Eastern Point & Lighthouse Beach & Cambridge Beach in Annisquam.

There are 3 beaches in Gloucester. Niles beach, Good Harbor, and Wingaersheek Long Beach belongs to Rockport. I lived and grew up here!

I have been to Good Harbor Beach and it is wonderful.
It really is. But not when my mom wants to go at 8pm in Winter to go swimming. AND SHE WONT GO IN SUMMER BC SHE SAYS ITS TOO COLD! WHA???
