We all would start by copying from others, then improving, and finally innovating. Hongqi is pronounced Hoan Chee or hon2 qi2 in pinyin. It means red flag 红旗, the Chinese national colors or flag. To pronounce it hongki sounds like the sometimes derogatory term for Hongkongers. It only takes a little bit of research to find its correct pronuncciation.

Given enough time and gathered experience, especially this day of age, when things move with the speed of light you will see the Chinese cars developers, that actually have the worlds largest production of Electric vehicles on the market, that will either reach or surpass the oldest brands.

Are you sure about that pronunciation? Traditionally in Chinese romanization, QI is pronounced CHEE, or Chi as in tai chi or traditionally tai qi. So possibly, Hong Chee. Google translate does pronounce it this way as well. Hope it helps lots of great information. Thanks!

I always wonder why is it if luxuries cars are not made in the Western world they are not as good as the other that made elsewhere.

The thing that has always set apart British auto engineering, is innovation. Chinese culture doesn't cultivate individual thought which is why they copy things rather than come up with their own original ideas. Taking these 2 observations into account, Chinese car makers will always be at least 1 step behind, if not more, because RR have over 100 years of experience in engineering excellence. Take the heater controls for example. RR, like other established car brands, use knobs instead of a touch screen so you can adjust the heating very easily and quickly without taking your eyes off the road, whereas in a Tesla, it's very fiddly and unintuitive to adjust with the touch screen. You simply can't tell the "position" of a control on a touch screen like you can with a real piece of hardware. This is where newer car companies fall down. They don't have decades of tried and tested, reliable technology to draw from - witness Tesla's QC and reliability issues.
Don't get me wrong, there's nothing wrong with touch screens, they have their place, but they are not always the best device for the job.

Another car also a German premium brand car of 3 year old , the epoxy paint on the steering wheel stripped and leakage of lubricant. My friend car also a German premium brand with faulty parking brake twice in a space of two years.
