Thanks Dave, great to watch the harvest from the truckies seat, thanks so much for sharing. I've spent the last two years running the header for my neighbour whilst he runs his two semi's carting the harvest to town. Works pretty well with him jumping from one truck to the other whilst I fill the other truck. Some of the time we have a third person on the chaser, usually when he can twist his wife's arm to do it, but mostly it's just the two of us. We're around the Coolamon and Grongy areas and got really lucky with the rain this year. Managed to get the last of the wheat stripped just before the heavier runs hit our parts. Plan is to upgrade my licence to a HC/MC in April so I'm kinda hoping might get chance to mix it up and do a few runs in the big girls as well as the header next year. In the meantime loving running the rigid rigs every chance I get. Thanks again for the videos and looking forward to the next one.
Amazing video Dave. I learned so much about the grain harvesting process with this video. Thoroughly entertaining and with the amazing Mack V8 soundtrack. Well done mate and thanks for the huge effort making this video.
G’day Matty, I’m glad you enjoyed it mate, it was a bit rough and jumpy in the truck, but I’m glad it gave you an insight into how a day in the life of a harvest might look. Thanks mate 🙏🏻
Looks like you’re doing it nicely Dave. Say G’day to Graeme and his family for me. I too used to always stop at both of those crossings. All the best Roland
Great video Dave! Good to see how the harvest proces works round your neck of the woods. What surprised me is the pivot mechanism on the tipper trailers. Thanks for sharing! Cheers, Mike
Great video mate . Really enjoy the view from the driver position . All the sights and sounds , almost like being there . Showed us things we have never seen before , and explained it all the way. I was surprised when I heard you say that area had about 70mil of rain in a month . Here we have only had 26mil so far this year . Thanks again for the video Dave . I know it takes time and work . Scott 🌵
I’m glad you enjoyed the video Scott, it was a bit rough and ready but hopefully it gave a bit of an insight into what we do during harvest. There’s been another fall since, so we are up over 100mm for the month, with more forecast in a few days. Are you in SA? 26mm for the year is horrible
Good video. I should have gotten involved in a bit of harvest work as soon as I retired, but only have an HC and thought I'd need an MC license. Loved the sound of the Mack.
In big grain growing areas single trailers have been left behind for bigger combinations, but around here there are still plenty. Bigger combinations are making their way into this area, but the single is still a practical outfit
The sound of a V8 Mack can't be beat, you better have a talk to Glen Reedman, he reckons the sound of an 2 stroke Detroit is the best, I used to drive an Ultra liner with the first E9 500 in Australia, Fred Nowlan bought with something like 150000 k's on it, it was the demonstration one, it had a 10 spd range change box in it, it was hard on the left shoulder going from low range to high range with the linkage setup
Good stuff mate I watched the video a couple of days ago ago on the tv but can’t send comments on it , the harvest stuff is great but I love the old trucks as I have one myself that I’m presently doing up keep the videos going mate
Hey Dave,an interesting and a bit of different content from your usual posts ,but good to watch,we have had three days of rain here in Tassie after a fairly long dry spell, has set us up for the summer being we live in the bush, thanks as always 👍😀🇦🇺
Thanks for the video. Harvest is about the same here other than the field bins, those I’ve never seen here. The scenery at the probing station isn’t as good here, here the probes are on hydraulic remote controlled arms. Your rig may be a little heavier losing some useful load weight but doesn’t cost near what newer lighter weight equipment does so so profit margin may equal. The old Massey turns the pto shaft the same as the new John Deere! But then again I just like old equipment!😊
Yeah, would have been great to get that rain in the growing season Dave, but that's how she pans out, if it was raining female movie stars we'd get hit by Lassie!
Well done again Dave... Would like to visit you late March if possible to see how the FR700 is coming along Just need to be able to find you on our trip from near Tamworth to South Australia. If you could get in touch please.
Thankyou sir. My Mother's Uncle and Aunts sheep and wheat farm was between Nurcoung and Natimuk north of mt Arapiles as i recall, not having been there since about 1981. Murray Redford was the uncles nephew on a nearby farm. Have you heard of the Redfords? They used to pronounce Goroke differently which makes sense to me.
Good question John. They pull the tarps over them. They use a wheel loader on each side, and a few people up on the pile to drag the tarp with the machines.
Always good to see a cab over Mack on the road. Thanks Kerry.
Terrific stuff Dave! Our Farmers are the Heart-beat of the Nation. True wealth comes from the Land!

G’day Matty, I’m glad you enjoyed it mate, it was a bit rough and jumpy in the truck, but I’m glad it gave you an insight into how a day in the life of a harvest might look. Thanks mate 🙏🏻

G'day mate. How many HP on this Mack? Nice to see old iron still pulling!🤛 Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
G’day mate.
This MHR (Ultraliner) was 400 hp from new, but would be somewhere around 450 I reckon with a few changes in its life.
Looks like you’re doing it nicely Dave. Say G’day to Graeme and his family for me. I too used to always stop at both of those crossings.
All the best

Good stuff mate I watched the video a couple of days ago ago on the tv but can’t send comments on it , the harvest stuff is great but I love the old trucks as I have one myself that I’m presently doing up keep the videos going mate
I live in central Arizona , average rain for us is only about 170mm a year. We won’t be anywhere what this year. Again , great video mate.
Great video!
Coming from wide open farming country in WA, it's interesting seeing how it's done in NSW.
Nice to hear the V8 Rumble.

Yeah, would have been great to get that rain in the growing season Dave, but that's how she pans out, if it was raining female movie stars we'd get hit by Lassie!

Back in the 80’s we use to fill em up and hoped you didn’t blank the weigh bridge out

What happens to those big piles of grain if it rains. How do they cover them
Good question John. They pull the tarps over them. They use a wheel loader on each side, and a few people up on the pile to drag the tarp with the machines.

They cover the outdoor grain with bunker tarps
