      yes it makes a world of a difference in the poop. it is just like human poop and they sometimes poop only once on homemade food as opposed to thrice on kibble! once a day pooping is fine my vet said.

She still has her walks every day, but she doesn't particularly like them and won't go at all if it's raining. I have found one thing though, I am in the UK and can't seem to get ground meat AT ALL, just minced. I bought her all kinds of meats and veggies the other day. Wall guard for feeding time: 2 small hooks (command hooks are fine), a laminated placemat of choice with 2 holes punched for hanging. Install against wall behind bowl. Placemat can now be washed and dried easily at the sink, or switched out to match decor. Plastic carpet runners work great under bowls too to protect rug or hard wood surfaces from water damage.
    I have a bad back and too much bending hurts. Things like this help me keep a space clean without killing myself in the process. Hope this helps someone else.

    Love love love this! I am a doodle breeder and wish more people would realize just how much dog food will change your dog. One small tip is if your doodle puppy is mouthing (she “play bites to get attention.) it will continue and won’t be as cute when she’s 55-60 pounds. It’s a big behavioral issue and should be corrected immediately. It will turn into biting and even into situations where stitches could be needed. She’s doing it to get your attention and to get pets and if you give them to her after she does that it will just teach her to do it more. I highly recommend watching Upstate Canine Academy for training on this. He’s great! (No meanness meant, your doodle is absolutely adorable and you are a fantastic owner!!)

      A doodle breeder? You sound proud of yourself, you should be ashamed for ripping people off... Ffs, just stop making mutts and selling them for astronomical prices! They have so many health and temperament issues because noone who has Champion bloodlines for their poodles or goldens would EVER allow their dogs to be used to make these abominations... champion bloodlines mean genetic testing such as OFA certification and temperament guarantees... Oh, you have a doodle? How original! 🙄🤦‍♀️

    • @kaileemccurdy
      @kaileemccurdy 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@PneumaEthos you are more than Welcome to believe whatever you’d like. As for the blind, deaf, and other children who have benefited from my *health tested* genetic tested, and more dogs, their thank you is enough for me and negative comments worn stop that. You sound like you don’t own a Goldendoodle... so sad. Maybe someday you’ll be lucky enough to. They are amazing dogs. (Hence the thousands and thousands of people who own them and more.) Instead of tearing others down for something you don’t agree with, how about just moving on with your life? You don’t agree? No issues here! Wont stop or affect me for a moment. But sadly it will affect you. Mean people are sad and miserable. I truly hope you are not. I wish you all the best and I’ll continue to be kind and breed my amazing doodles. ❤️ have a great day!
      (Also I have an AKC Registered Health tested, genetic tested, even temperament tested red poodle from Amazing lines that I do use as a stud. So yes, people with amazing AKC Registered health tested, genetic tested championship line “purebred” dogs do in fact breed for amazing doodles) 😉 it’s all about producing an amazing, healthy, happy, dog for families. Not just about the money. ❤️ Those who breed for passion instead of money understand this. Again, I wish you all the best!

    • @PneumaEthos
      @PneumaEthos 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      This is the truth, they are all irresponsibly bred mixed breeds. An innocent victim of human greed and ignorance. An insult to the ethical breeders who have devoted their lives to preserving and improving their beloved purebreds. Those who do health, genetic and temperament testing to make sure they are not producing an animal doomed to suffer (an often shortened) lifetime of misery here on this earth. It is an offense to the dedicated breeder who spends countless hours properly raising, socializing and matching the best possible puppy for each potential owner's needs and who guarantees for the life of that animal that it will have a soft place to land should circumstances change. You can claim what you like, but I see the truth every single day in these poor dogs with horrific health and temperament issues, I would never in a million years own a doodle or "designer" mutt. I LITERALLY have Standards! 🐩 You don't need to lie to yourself or others to attempt to validate what you do... Sure, you use champion bloodlines to make your mixed breed, there's not an ethical breeder alive that would allow their Champion bloodline dogs to knowingly be used to do this. I'm only here to stand up for these poor dogs that people continue to breed because they are indeed money hungry, unethical, greedy people who exploit these poor puppies and take advantage of other people's ignorance who pay thousands of dollars for a mutt... I'm not sure how any of these "breeders" sleep at night. If you are so great and ethical, why don't you call for this to change? Because that's not what we are seeing, it's only getting worse every day.

    It is awesome to see you feed your dogs at the end. The best is when you add the Blueberries to her food.
    More dog owners must get into the habit of interrupting their dogs when they are eating. (It creates bite inhibition in dogs - dogs get use to hands coming into their face as they are eating and learn to associate it with positive rewards).
    It lessens food guarding. Helps in multiple dog households. And is a great thing to teach dogs BEFORE you have children. I love how you interrupt your dogs with positive rewards - you never know when the neighbor’s kid will come over and start putting their hands in the dog bowl while the dog is eating. (Hard to watch kids 24/7).

    I really like the way you make the food. I’ve been making it for years. I usually switch between lentils and rice. I also add beef liver that I put into a blender with sardines and then mix into whatever meat I use.
    Also I cook the rice separately because I don’t want starch in their food. I cook the rice then when it’s done I rinse it to remove all the starch.
    I like the idea of pressure cooking it. I’m guessing I won’t need as much water without the rice in their.
    Thanks for the video.

    Some other good things to add is fish like sardines stored in spring water or tuna or even just fish oil. Blueberries & banana are also good. Eggs and the egg shell. Sweet potato is another superfood for dogs.
    Also rose hipvital is amazing for joint health! It can be used as a preventative or to help ease.
    I live in Australia I own 2 Australian cattle dogs and have always cooked my dogs food. I buy 12kg of kangaroo meat from the local small town butcher. I don’t own a fancy pot like you so it takes me all day to prep their foods. I’ll have to look into getting a pressure cooker

    I agree with everything except the rice. I have 9 dogs and 3 cats, which I have 5 Instant Pots and one of them yes is the 10 qt. I also cook my eggs in the shell for 4 minutes in the Instant Pot (6 qt) and release the pressure so they are cooked perfectly and then use the egg shells for calcium. Yes of course I wash my eggs before cooking them. Yes, I would love more homemade fur kids recipes I am getting bored with mine however very similar to this one, it is just inspiring watching you to keep going. I have been doing this for about 3 years now and sometimes I feel like...crap all I do is cook and wash dishes, hahahahahaha. You are a breath of fresh air. I don't use commercial so-called food, it is toxic, and I provide homemade fresh wholesome foods for my animals. Rice is empty calories, not good for their digestive system and of course it has arsenic sprayed on it. Commercial, they use it as a filler which is a huge amount. As it turns out, the rice may be necessary. My dogs have been having chronic pancreatitis so I went back to commercial dog food. Even with following Dr. Becker’s recipe, they still had issues so I gave up.

    I love your videos. I use to make my dogs their food but since I have gotten older I find it a real chore. I make bone broth which they love and I add it to their food. I have started making food for them but I use the rice cooker (use to use a pressure cooker but am not so comfortable with it now).I cook the veggies in my microwave, and meat in the skillet. Then put rice, bone broth and cooked veggies in the rice cooker. When done I add the cooked meat and then blend in my ninja blender. I do that because the veggies go down easier when blended. Because I worry about vitamins and calcium, they get kibble in bone broth in the morning and then the homemade food in the evening. You have provided such helpful info and I am striving to go all homemade eventually. Thank you.

    Hi Nicole. Finally a dog friendly recipe in IP. I’m in the process of transitioning my 7 yr Sammy from can to home cooked. Also could you do a video on how you store, freeze, thaw & feed. I need to familiarize myself w this process. TY!!!❤

  • @Rashmibhattachan
    @Rashmibhattachan 3 ปีที่แล้ว +7

    Hi Nicole! great video! I also feed my 3 year portie home made food. Due to his itchiness my holistic vet asked me to cut down organic brown rice from 2 cups to just 1 cup in my regular 5 lb ground meat (free range bison) and veggies. She's also asked me to switch from Bison beef lamb to duck pork and turkey because the former three are warm foods that may trigger the allergies or aggravate so from tomorrow I'm switching him to locally raised duck meat. It's not ground so i'll have to cut into chunks and cook. I will see how his allergies get on duck. If it is the same then i'll just switch to turkey.
    One thing i'd like to suggest you is never to put the lids on right away after pouring the hot food. You always want to either soak the whole pot in iced water let it cool faster then once it cools down then only pour in containers and put the lids on then freeze them. From the food safety standpoint, this is what's taught by the health department.
    great job! enjoyed the videos.

    I wanted to clarify the calorie content. How did you come up with this number per cup? There are a few ways you might have come up with this number, but only one way to be accurate. Because of the high moisture from adding water you cannot give a calorie content per cup unless you accounted for the water. I apologize if you already did this First you would have to add all the calories of what was added to instant pot. Second, you would need to weigh the finished batch on a food scale to get total grams of product. Third, you would divide the total calories / weight (in grams). Fourth, you would weigh out a cup of the food to see how many calories. If this wasn’t done then your calories per cup that you wrote Is definitely higher than reality because of the moisture. I plan on preparing this meal and I will be back with the actual calories per cup. Thank you for the videos and the education. Your dogs are adorable.
