I never get tired of watching Tommy Igoe videos. Nothing beats seeing him with the band live though. I've traveled thousands of miles to see him and its been an awesome experience each time. I had the pleasure of having an hour lesson with him in NYC. I still hear his words of wisdom every time I play my drums.
I see the Bridgemen is still in Tommy's Blood ...love it! Great seeing him revisit his rudimental roots form his dad's influence to corp intergration in his kit playing not to mention inviting another snare monster Scojo to jam out.
What a concert!; both of them and the band. Mr. Johnson, a real gentleman & brilliant musician...he gave a wonderful concert and a great master class in CR. Mr. Igoe, another true master...I'll meet him sooner or later, too.. :)
haha great! WOW... how can these (and all the great) performers/musicians can exist? how can a mortal get this kind of musicianship. I know practice can make you a better musician but there is that 'something' that make these guys, great.
this is good to view the different hand approaches. Scott is more refined as a marching snare drummer where Tommy is more "loose"...note the hand angle at first of Tommy's strokes Vs Scott's...both obviously work. i like Scott's hands better for me but the marching drummer does not play kit and that approach off snare can be limiting
I'm in agreement with you there, although I slightly prefer Tommy's technique over Scojo's, no shade to him whatsoever (I'm primarily a kit player who enjoys rudimental snare drumming too). Rudimental snare drumming technique has evolved pretty much exclusively for one drum, whether it be tilted or flat. For drum kit, a much more relaxed and looser approach allows for better mobility and sound quality around the kit. Rudimental players need to a lot of grip changes depending on what they're playing. I argue that kit players do the same but to a higher degree as all the parts of the kit are at different angles, head tensions, positions etc...
@@FLX_AUI find (as someone who sits my time even between jazz and rudimental snare) That in rudimental drumming it’s all about tailoring an approach specifically so your grip changes as little as possible keeping a consistency in sound and velocity. Where as on the kit, keeping a consistent grip just obviously does not quite work with the angles (although you can move things around to limit that too) for instance I place my ride where most people would have a second rack Tom, super close in so I can reach out with my arm remaining parallel to the ground and not angled out or too high making me reach for it
I am frustrated with a trendy gospel drum. It does not feel musical charm from the style that relies only on banging and repeated hits. However, I feel human warmth from his play.
Then you dont understand the art of drumming. Everysingle note in a drummers solo has been thought out for hours and carefully placed. I think the drums is one of the most musical instrument out there either it is marching or set. Marching has more thoughtfull notes and crazy complex rythems and drumsets keep the tempo of the whole band. Your ignorant

Pure fun, Tommy! Glad you and Scotty got to hang out and drum some beats together. Totally Awesome!
nice to see Tommy's drumline chops are alive and well!
