Awesome looking brush..that acrylic mix looks epic..love the GFT eucris have the cream and cologne cracking scent very dark and manly. .have yet to try the Parker variant,how does it compare with the progress?. Thanks for the video keep up the good work kevy 👌
Thanks Mike. I love the new brush. Yes, the Eucris cream is lovely and the cologne is on my radar now. The Variant is great and I think improves on all the bad points of the Progress - the yellow plastic adjusting knob and the non knurled handle. I hope Merkur make some improvements to try to keep up and compete with Parker. They're both very similar shaver's but I prefer the Parker. Cheers. Kevy 😀

Kyle Richardson Yes Kyle, Mrs. Kevy knows 😜 I would find it hard to have a favourite adjustable between them all. The Parker variant is my favourite modern adjustable and all the vintage Gillette adjustable I own are all superb. Parker have come a long way in the last few years and I've heard Merkur recently have been having quality control issues. I think the Parker Variant is the best new adjustable out there at the moment. Merkur need to up their game now. I like all my razors in different ways, either adjustable or non- adjustable. Great shave mate. I found that there is a powder that is really effective for a decent nick after seeing Joe from Queens use it. It's called Infa-Lab 'Nick Relief'. Stops any cut or nick dead in it's tracks....brilliant stuff ! I just tap a little out onto finger and then heap it over the cut so that some will stick to the cut.
If you have Proraso Green pre-shave, the combo of the .1% camphor and the eucalyptus will usually stop a cut if left on for 5 minutes and then rinsed off. The Proraso green shaving cream will also work. I've also found the zinc stearate in Clubman talc also is effective before using the tool of last resort, the Clubman styptic pencil. The key is to try to avoid products with aluminum unless absolutely necessary. Alum bars are supposed to contain a the relatively safe (if quickly rinsed off) , potassium alum, or potassium aluminum sulfate but with little regulation in China from where many come from, you have to be careful.

Shave- a-thon Some good tips there mate, thanks. I've often wondered about leaving alum on the skin and not rinsing it off. The reason I say that is that I've heard it can be used as an anti-perspirant on the armpits. I suppose it's different using it on your face. Some rinse it off the face and some don't. I tend to err on the side of caution and rinse it off. Kevy 👍
Happy Friday evening Kevy! I enjoy seeing all these products...the risk is wanting most of them. I have noticed a whole crop of people making shaving products. The same can be said for the Vlogs. I keep those to a minimum because I run out of time to enjoy them, plus I get good information from the few I do have. I did notice a scratch or scrape after that shave...did the overhang get you? Trouble spot looks great today and damn you get thick lather! As far as what I had to hide from the wife - I had to hide a 500g calibration weight for my scale, and a bunch of amber bottles for my scent creations LOL! I started doing fragrance experiments this week! I've done a total of 4 tests of two oil blends of 1 drop per oil on the end of q-tips: 1) Sandalwood and Lavender, 2) Patchouli and Lavender, 3) Clove Bud and Lavender, 4) Sandalwood and Clove Bud. They all smell fantastic. The Sandalwood and lavender has a strong floral-spicy note that starts off strong in lavender and spice for the first hour or so, but then mellows into a fabulous blend of a floral spice aroma that lasts for several hours, finally ending in the sandalwood scent that actually lasted over 24 hours on the q-tip. The patchouli and lavender has a floral woody note that starts off strong, but quickly mellows into a fantastic version of that same initial note that lasted for over 8 hours and smelled fabulous. The clove bud and lavender created a floral gingerbread kind of smell that said Christmas time, and the Sandalwood and clove bud smells like cutting wood with a circular saw - which is a smell I happen to love. The Sandalwood and Clove bud started off strong, but quickly faded only lasted about 4 hours before it was barely detectable. I figure that I'm going to try lots of 2 oil combinations and learn slowly about how long the scents last and how they go together. I've got Orange, Lemon, Lime, and grapefruit oils that I haven't even tried yet. I do about 1 scent per day roughly so that I don't overwhelm my nose. Anyway, great shave as usual Kevy!

Just a opinion/observation/result of a personal experiment: In Brian M's(Executive Shaving Co.) "How to Wet Shave" tutorial he used 2 razors. The second being, as he describes, less aggressive than the first razor to complete the ATG and Pick Up Passes. Following this logic; I considered that sometimes when a section of skin is subject to chronic irritation or simply irritated due to some kind of shaving trauma, why not switch to a Second Special shaving cream? Start the shave with whatever Traditional or Artisan shaving soap(Really whatever one wants to use regardless of tradition) but in the final phase switch to a substance that is especially suited to deal with a recurring problem. I found that using several NON lathering creams which applied by hand(not brush)to the affected area yield exceptional results in the shave and promotes rapid healing. Equally, it is still possible to do a touch with the "traditional" soap if desired but no irritation will follow. One brand of shave gel stands out and weirdly enough it is NOT a "Gel" but a highly viscous creamy lotion that is ultra slick. Remington Sleek Smooth Shave: Vanilla Mist Shave Gel www.ebay.com/itm/1-Bottle-Remington-Vanilla-Mist-Smooth-and-Silky-Shave-Gel-7fl-oz-/321630612437?hash=item4ae2adabd5%3Ag%3AwYUAAOSw%7EuhUpEzL This substance is applied to wet skin and the gel goes to work FAST. Anyway, something to think about for sensitive spots... ;-)

Since the skin has been considerably stretched during the previous 3 passes, it feels like there's still rough stubble on the neck no matter how many buffs are performed. However, that's because one is actually feeling a layer below the upper epidermis or hair that's actually below the surface of the skin.. Once the skin settles a few minutes after the shave, I've noticed that the neck is actually BBS.
WolfRanger2008 Ive never thought about it like that. I guess using that method would work if you have time to switch the soap to something different for the other passes. I think for me, it's trying to balance any irritation caused with the feeling of applying lather with a brush to the face. I think that feeling all adds to the sensuality and enjoyment of wet shaving. I'm not dismissing your theory and it does sound like it would be a very interesting experiment to try. It's only after the shave once the skin settles into it's normal pigmentation etc that you realise how good a shave it's been...or not! Kevy.
I'm London based and live about a ten minute walk from a Sainsbury! Another request; are you likely to ever to do a 'behind the scenes' of one of your shaves? You seem to have a pretty impressive set up and occasionally you can be spotted looking up notes. A friend and I have a theory that you are filming in a studio, not your own bathroom!

I was expecting a 7 day growth! You shaved without telling us? Sacre bleu! 😉 Your brush nadle almost looks psychedelic. I wonder if someone could design a Beatles brush from the Sgt. Pepper era or with the iconic Peter Max type Yellow Submarine images. Too bad Apple Records doesn't license some nice shaving products like a bowl or brush. Have you been using your blades for more shaves? I have a 7 O'Clock yellow and Wilkinson going on their 7th or 8th use right now and still resulting in BBS shaves with just a short pick up pass. I really think some blades get smoother with each use (up to a point). I get good shaves whether increasing orreducing the settings for each pass. but I think I prefer the reduction method.

I have some soaps coming from America according to my usps app but no idea what they are! I've got some k Shave Worx on the way, waiting for Stirling to release Iced Pineapple and glacial Wintergreen! I also have some more on the way from Maggard! And I'm waiting on the new scents releasing from Wolfpac and Squadron soaps! Hahaha so not much happening with myself and my channel lol

Trouble spot looks great today and damn you get thick lather! As far as what I had to hide from the wife - I had to hide a 500g calibration weight for my scale, and a bunch of amber bottles for my scent creations LOL!
I started doing fragrance experiments this week! I've done a total of 4 tests of two oil blends of 1 drop per oil on the end of q-tips: 1) Sandalwood and Lavender, 2) Patchouli and Lavender, 3) Clove Bud and Lavender, 4) Sandalwood and Clove Bud. They all smell fantastic. The Sandalwood and lavender has a strong floral-spicy note that starts off strong in lavender and spice for the first hour or so, but then mellows into a fabulous blend of a floral spice aroma that lasts for several hours, finally ending in the sandalwood scent that actually lasted over 24 hours on the q-tip. The patchouli and lavender has a floral woody note that starts off strong, but quickly mellows into a fantastic version of that same initial note that lasted for over 8 hours and smelled fabulous. The clove bud and lavender created a floral gingerbread kind of smell that said Christmas time, and the Sandalwood and clove bud smells like cutting wood with a circular saw - which is a smell I happen to love. The Sandalwood and Clove bud started off strong, but quickly faded only lasted about 4 hours before it was barely detectable.
I figure that I'm going to try lots of 2 oil combinations and learn slowly about how long the scents last and how they go together. I've got Orange, Lemon, Lime, and grapefruit oils that I haven't even tried yet. I do about 1 scent per day roughly so that I don't overwhelm my nose. Anyway, great shave as usual Kevy!

Just a opinion/observation/result of a personal experiment: In Brian M's(Executive Shaving Co.) "How to Wet Shave" tutorial he used 2 razors. The second being, as he describes, less aggressive than the first razor to complete the ATG and Pick Up Passes.
Following this logic; I considered that sometimes when a section of skin is subject to chronic irritation or simply irritated due to some kind of shaving trauma, why not switch to a Second Special shaving cream? Start the shave with whatever Traditional or Artisan shaving soap(Really whatever one wants to use regardless of tradition) but in the final phase switch to a substance that is especially suited to deal with a recurring problem.
I found that using several NON lathering creams which applied by hand(not brush)to the affected area yield exceptional results in the shave and promotes rapid healing. Equally, it is still possible to do a touch with the "traditional" soap if desired but no irritation will follow. One brand of shave gel stands out and weirdly enough it is NOT a "Gel" but a highly viscous creamy lotion that is ultra slick.

This substance is applied to wet skin and the gel goes to work FAST. Anyway, something to think about for sensitive spots... ;-)

After a little over 2 years of DE shaving, I've discovered there's a tendency to buff too much during the pickup pass.
Since the skin has been considerably stretched during the previous 3 passes, it feels like there's still rough stubble on the neck no matter how many buffs are performed. However, that's because one is actually feeling a layer below the upper epidermis or hair that's actually below the surface of the skin.. Once the skin settles a few minutes after the shave, I've noticed that the neck is actually BBS.
WolfRanger2008 Ive never thought about it like that. I guess using that method would work if you have time to switch the soap to something different for the other passes. I think for me, it's trying to balance any irritation caused with the feeling of applying lather with a brush to the face. I think that feeling all adds to the sensuality and enjoyment of wet shaving. I'm not dismissing your theory and it does sound like it would be a very interesting experiment to try. If I can find some of that stuff here in the U.K. I'd be more than willing to give it a try. Cheers, have a great weekend. Kevy 😀

It's only after the shave once the skin settles into it's normal pigmentation etc that you realise how good a shave it's been...or not! Kevy.

Your brush nadle almost looks psychedelic. I wonder if someone could design a Beatles brush from the Sgt. Pepper era or with the iconic Peter Max type Yellow Submarine images. Too bad Apple Records doesn't license some nice shaving products like a bowl or brush.
Have you been using your blades for more shaves? I have a 7 O'Clock yellow and Wilkinson going on their 7th or 8th use right now and still resulting in BBS shaves with just a short pick up pass. I really think some blades get smoother with each use (up to a point).
I get good shaves whether increasing orreducing the settings for each pass. but I think I prefer the reduction method.
Shave- a-thon I do apologise! I love how my new brush looks and it performs wonderfully well. Ha ha, a Beatles themed badger brush would be great. I have so,e blades now waiting to be used for a 4th shave...I'm scared 😳 I think starting on the higher settings and turning it to a lower setting works the best for me too. Cheers. Kevy 😀
