Thanks for this informative video. However, In you video around at 2:10/6:09 ... I think you explained the Honeypot exactly the opposite. The Honeypot catches the bots who fills in the Honeypot fields. The Honypot field does not show to normal human visitors hence no chance for them to fill in the values.
Great tips. I got a lot of Eric Jones-spam through my contact forms and with your tips I could stop them.

Love your advice on avoiding spam on Elementor forms. Can you do a video on cold email tools like DoYouMail? Been using it for around 4 months, and the unlimited email sending capabilities cannot be overstated. It is super easy to set up, especially with the automatic DNS configurations. Highly recommend!
Thanks! I use FluentCRM and I like to focus on permission marketing. It gets much better results than cold email marketing. Look for 'Permission Marketing' by Seth Godin, it's a great book

@@FrankLopezz I use a combination of methods for tracking clicks and conversions. First are heat maps. These give me the most insight into clicks and user behavior on a site and let’s me know what needs to be changed to improve conversions.
The other are thank you pages where possible. I also like to use Plausible for analytics. It give a clean and easy to read overview of entry and exit pages, where traffic is coming from and is much lighter than Google Analytics and GDPR compliant.

- why don't you like using Google captcha? (You can hide those annoying popups on the right correctly)
- If you use a website in another language, do you need to have the label name of the honeypot in the same language as the real field labels or in English for the bots?
Great questions. Googles been having lots of issues with GDPR and it don’t like filling out forms with captcha. I prefer Clean Talk over Captcha.
And we do lots of sites in Thai and the honeypots still work using English

How does adding the honypots help? I would like you would still get the entries with those added fields.
Good questions. The entries don’t go through or are not seen is legit submissions. The honeypots just throw off the bots. 1 or 2 won’t trick them, but 4-5 seems to do the trick.
I'm adding honeypots in a different language. Would that help? For example, the form is in English but I add a couple more honeypots in a different language.

If I inspect the code of the website with the form, I can see that elementor shows these honeypots as hidden elements with the labels you suggested. Well, wouldn't a bot not see the code and conclude not to fill these in to pass as human?
Well…there are smart bots and not so smart bots.

Good question. TBH I’m not sure on this one. I’d learn towards probably not since the form and everything else in the pop up isn’t in the code until the pop up is triggered

honeypots dont work anymore..
Captcha and math quizzes are no obstacles to Eric Jones! I started with captcha, then replaced it with a math quiz. No good. Eric Jones is too good for that. The only thing (that I've seen so far) that stops Eric Jones dead in his tracks is a plugin called Maspik. Works gangbusters. The only trouble now is that instead of the spam arriving in my email inbox, it's filling up the Maspik spam log. Would the honeypot method defeat Eric Jones? I heard he uses a Python script.
I test cleantalk and from A in gtmetrix I received a D score 🤔
Yeah we had a client once that had cleantalk and it hammered thier sites performance. May have been that they had everything turned on or that it wasn't setup will but seemed pretty heavy on performance.
Try goin through the settings, turning everything off and then turning on only what’s needed.
Also, I use Asset Clean up to disable code from plug ins to load on pages they aren’t needed. I got a video coming up next on this.
You know I have never even given a thought to honeypots, always gone straight to Recaptcha. Certainly going to try this method!
