Thank you for highlighting Sericocarpus linifolius. I recently found seed of this species and am propagating it this year for my native plant nursery. Sericocarpus asteroides is another super underappreciated plant, blooms in dry shade.
I'm pretty sure I successfully got a few of these to grow in a thickly grassed little open swampy spot in the woods, but they haven't flowered yet. Got that spiral of leaves coming off a central stalk, but different plants had different numbers of them- anywhere from three to six. A few did somehow end up hard on someone's mailbox a little down the road & they did flower. I'm still unsure if that was from me, or not, but they look to be about the same size/ age & I don't remember ever having seen them before this past summer. I tried multiple times with Turk's caps- both bulbs & seed. Got a patch to grow by the ricer in the middle of town, but no such luck anywhere else. (I often throw leftover seed in the river & just see what happens. Lol) I live in a suburban area with a lot of intermittent patches of forest & a lot of deer & turkeys like to wander around from patch to patch.
Beautiful! Thanks for the discussion
love your videos, amazing

Could you make a video explaining all fancy sounding plant terms?
I've been thinking about doing that for a while, a few episodes on basic plant anatomy and taxonomy would be a great idea 😁
baptisms tinctoria is so pretty
I can't even find the seeds or plant for sale of that aster
do you have a video on Turks Cap Lily?
I don't but I'd love to make one!
